They make this thing called a center punch. Makes it possible to drill a hole where it supposed to be, instead of “winging” it and hoping you’re close.
I believe Nate from Dirt Lifestyle applies JB weld to his nutserts to keep them from slipping or whatever. Probably adds a certain amount of corrosion protection too.
it's crucial to use the nutserts with the knurled backs on the lip. Also using a real nutsert tool instead of a bolt and nuts way of half-ass doing them.
Are those panels aluminum or steel? Im going to Run out to my Gladiator and check with a magnet right now...(hold music)...OKAY IM BACK: The quarter forward most quarter panel where the fender gets trimmed is aluminum, all of the body behind that is steel.
No help now, but you probably should have done two nutserts to completion before drilling any other holes. Hang the slider then drill the rest in the right spot. If you got the bolts in though it's good enough, not gonna fall off.
And use one of those center marking punch deals where the outside diameter is the same as the hole in the slider and it has a little center punch in the middle and you whack it with a hammer and get a perfect centered place to start your hole
Hey Fred, could you give an hinest opinion on the motobilt sliders, I need some for my 4 door JK and there are so many options, and so many prices. Just don't want to waste money.
Hey Guys Really enjoy the show, Im ready ready to come help, or just ride along passing out "Banquet's" 🤪 Does anyone ever use silicone or some sort of waterproofing between the sliders and the paint/body? Just pulled off my old set of Warn sliders to refresh and I have rust beginning to appear, along with dirt, sand and moisture from all the trails its been on - A lot of trails! 😎

Bestest drill bits for sheet metal are step bits with a hose clamp to prevent going to the next step bigger then you need
Good job Joe! 🙌🏻
I like that you show everything the good the bad and the ugly. That is real life wrenching good video once again.
They look great as well.
That is a sweet touch that has a purpose great job brother 👏 👍.
Looks good, Fred! Seems there's always one hole that just doesn't go straight, no matter what you do. Peace from PA!
Cool video. Can't wait to see this Jeep work on the trails
This seems like a great option for those of us who aren't welders.
Good progress! I’m excited to see how it turns out.

Is it useful to dab some paint on those holes before installing the nutserts? Rusty climate was asking ...

5 minutes, q tip, paint can, install wet.
Awesome little add on !
The nutsert tool changed my world
Looking forward to seeing how they perform. Love Dirt!
When it’s done Fred, you and the dogs are invited to come wheel in PA with us! Love to see NewbSock on the trails at Rausch or AOAA.

Was going to say the exact thing.
Hey Fred, does Jeepin Joe talk? Or just work! Silent partners are good to have! Keep making that Jeep awesome!
No sealant or corrosion inhibitors in the new body holes?
This is a JL. They’re made out of aluminium.
Would be nice if you could do the whole jeep with one companies stuff.
So they work? I like the look but not sure they can take a bounce or two.

Oh man this is my dream Jeep I love it. Please post publicly if you sell
Me and my kids are big fans! How are the rock rails holding up? Have you tested them yet?

I'v been always thought that sliders should've been mounted on the frame not the body. They don't look tough.
Is that powder coat or Steel It?
Fred, it may seem stupid but try not to cover the vents on the drill. It'll overheat.
Ask me how I know.
I just put the metal cloak ones on my jeep they look great but absolute pain in the ass to install
I want to see a monster 4x4 Prius !
Squirrel!
@@joshuaatkins5197 LOL 😆
Nutcert tool is 1000% worth it

I can't wait to see what fender flares you put on Newb sock. Wait, you aren't leaving the stock ones on are you?
Joe's profile looks like a young Kevin James
