I would even say that choosing Horizon 5 over any Horizon at all is criminal. For me, the first 3 instalments were the best. After that it was all downhill.
I respectfully disagree because FH5 is an excellent game for a casual audience that doesn’t have a whole lot of time to play games. It’s easily the Horizon game I’ve spent the most time with. I feel like FH1, 2, and 3 are the kind of game I’d play once and never again, but FH5 continues long after beating the Goliath.
I understand that feeling of beating your best time even as someone who is not a fan of time trials in most racing games. One of my favorite not-so-modern hidden gem racing games is Nitronic Rush, the free indie game that inspired Distance. It's just like Trackmania, or Sonic Adventure 1.
Congratulations my man, I am so excited to see you mixing up things lately, I am telling you those videos can be really helpful when you don't know what you are looking for even if you are a seasoned player. I am really looking forward to playing Forza Horizon 5 on my Asus Rog Ally, any thoughts on that machine btw ?
@@TotallyTubularJonathan Well it really is, it sure is a beast to my eyes since I don't have a gaming PC. The worst thing about it is the battery when it is unplugged it barely plays for more than an hour, but when you have some electricity around it sure is great. Of course the Xbox game pass adds a lot to the experience, I mean 400+ games for what I've given thus far 1 buck, that is one sweet deal.
100% would love a list of older racing games. My ps4 broke so I'm stuck with my 360 and my laptop that doesn't have a graphics card but kinda pulls above its weight class
I like the list. Surprised there is not a The Crew game in there, they are really good. Or Gravel/Dirt games. Dirt 5 is super arcadey and fun. Am I the only one that prefers Forza Horizon 4?
Diddy Kong! Definitely would want to see more racing game videos, especially ranking classic titles too. 212 hours in GT7 right now, its my favorite modern title currently. But CTR was good too! And Horizon 5 is phenomenal as well, spent a ton of time on it, and would have spent more if I had an Xbox instead of a weak PC.
The F1 games deserve to be on here, you'd probably love them. A great balance between a realistic sim like Gran turismo and a arcadey/casual elements. Awesome graphics and tracks too. Also mariokart is overrated. Crash team racing, GT7, and wreckfest are all a bit more interesting.
Crash Team Racing's problem is it's almost TOO good. The skill ceiling is so high that after i finished the story mode none of my friends stood a chance keeping up with me no matter what items they used. I kinda found a new found apperication for MK8s accessibility afterwards
The real issue with horizon chase turbos sequel is they still dont feature drifting which is nuts since they take inspiration from outrun and thats the best part in that game. Finally, the sequel is not available on disc, which cements it as a waste of time
Diddy Kong! I do think Mario Kart 8 DX is still the GOAT. But, I would love a rerelease of Diddy Kong Racing and the Dream for me was always Star Fox Grand Prix 😩
Speaking of diddy kong, I really would like a new donkey kong Game. It's been 10 years since tropical freeze came out for the WiiU. And why has there never been a proper Remake of diddy kong racing? I mean, I dont even Wish for a new entry 😂
Genuinely why not Horizon Chase 2? That game is better than the first in pretty much every way Edit: never mind I hadn’t watched the whole section, I haven’t finished either game but I definitely prefer HC2
#1 Flatout Ultimate Carnage #2 Grid 2019 #3 Burnout 3 #4 Forza Motorsport #5 Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled #6 Trackmania Turbo #7 Gran Turismo 7 #8 Dirt 3 #9 Crew Motorfest #10 NFS Unbound Sorry, but i bought kart 8 for switch and EVERYTHING was unlocked - i was so fucking pissed. there was ZERO incentive to play it! also the game is too slow, and courses are too wide. Crash Team Racing crushes it where it counts... in the gameplay department! Still respect your picks Jonathon! 😘
@@Koustav_04 ctr has way better gameplay. when i bought a switch for mario kart 8 i was so bored because i missed the 3 boost mechanic and the crazy characters
@@Snaaake_Beater For me, Mario Kart is the only game where losing a game is still enjoyable. The creativity of each and every track are unmatched by every other racing game. I'm not only trying to win but enjoying the environment as well. Taking shortcut is not even in my mind. It's just as much about the journey as it is about the destination. No other game makes me feel that way.
Hello Jonathan my name is Isaiah and I have something important to say to you. God loves you and like any father he wants to help you and keep you safe especially from the devil. But I am not just speaking to you about this I am also talking to your fans about this. God loves you all and especially in the times we our living in we are in need of him more than ever. But the choice is ultimately yours have a nice day Shalom Shalom.
I have to strongly disagree on Horizon 5. Horizon 5 is by far the worst instalment in the series. The quality of Forza (whether Horizon or Motorsport) has dropped dramatically in recent years.
Sigh... When you put Smash in a fighting game list filled with otherwise regular fighting games I can't get behind that. While I can kind of see it more with Mario Kart and traditional racing games it's still kind of out of place. It's almost a completely different genre. Yes people race, but it's so different in execution it might as well not be related. Before anyone gets offended this is not a knock-on kart racers just like me thinking Smash shouldn't be compared to a regular fighting game is not a knock-on Smash.
There is a strong argument that Smash Ultimate is one of the best fighting games ever especially with that roster and its esports scene and there is a strong argument Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is one of the best racing games ever made. I'm tired of the gate keeping with these genres
@@fairmonkey4786I don't know man when the mechanics of every other fighting game involves a life meter going down and predominantly no platforms to escalate to along with a myriad of other core gameplay component differences they share apart from Smash, I just find it a disingenuous comparison. It be like me trying to say there is a strong case to be made that Dark Souls is the greatest fighting game ever because it has PVP and fighting. I'll also agree with Mario kart being more closely aligned to racing games than Smashed to fighting games. But I still think kart racers have enough of a separation and grouping within the sub genre for it to be kind of a disingenuous comparison. How could somebody with a straight face compare Gran Turismo 7 and Forza with Mario Kart 7? They are not even remotely attempting to achieve the same thing.
@@markhavick7115 Kind of a weird complaint to make on this list though, given that the only connecting theme is that the games are good and they're all racing games that encourage being good and getting to 1st place. It's just odd to be fixated on 1 game here when the list has 2 classic arcade-styled racing games (Cruisin Blast and Horizon Chase Turbo), 2 kart racers (CTR Nitro Fueled and Mario Kart 8), 3 modern arcade-styled racing games (Forza Horizon 5, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, and NFS Unbound), a demo derby game (Wreckfest), a sim racer (Gran Turismo 7), and a time trial racer (Track Mania Turbo). You're acting like MK8 sticks out like a sore on a thumb, when in reality, the list was never consistent in the first place. It's okay not to worry about it.
I miss the Burnout series. Paradise was such an amazing game.
And Takedown, and Revenge
And Motorstorm, and Driver
You didn't have to miss it you can still enjoy it BO paradise remastered. The tracks still hit
putting Horizon 5 over 4 and 3 is actually criminal, them games are better in almost every aspect
I agree with 4 but not 3. Unless you like having to dirt race constantly then 3 might be for you.
I would even say that choosing Horizon 5 over any Horizon at all is criminal. For me, the first 3 instalments were the best. After that it was all downhill.

Why?
Diddy Kong. Cool rankings. I prefer arcade racers too. Fun, easy to get into and play for a 20mins or hours. Hot Shot Racing was awesome too.
Daddy Kong.
There are a couple here I’d never heard of and now really want to play. That’s awesome. Great video as always.

Unbound reminds me of a classic title called Blur from PS3 AND XBOX 360, Awesome title for NFS🔥 GREAT REVIEW
It's good to see, that somebody knows that game.

Not going to lie, I had more fun with Trackmania Turbo than with the new Trackmania but they're both great

I wish I bought Driveclub before it got removed :(
Look into getting it physically while you still can. I recently picked it up for $20 new on eBay
Driveclub's gameplay is mid anyway
Massive credit for putting cruisin in here, love that game

sad nfs hot pursuit 2010 isnt modern enough to make the list as its my favourite videogame of all time
