Wood Turning and Pyrography - Oak Hollow Form
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 13 июл 2024
- Welcome welcome! In this video I use a woodturning lathe to make a small hollow form with white oak followed by a little pyrography adding detail to the existing grain lines of the timber.
Firstly mounted on a drive spur to form the tenon before being flipped over for the rest of the process. Shaped using a 3/8ths bowl gouge for the most part.
The centre was removed with a 14mm Forstner bit and the opening remained around that size after being hollowed with a few different carbide scrapers. Sanded from 120 - 320 then cleaned and parted off.
The detail was added with the Dremel Versatip soldering torch before a very light sanding at 320 and finishing with a coat of Walrus oil.

I like the pyrography design. It looks like a part of the wood by simply following the grain pattern. A neat idea 👍
Thanks for watching Jojo, glad you like it! 😁
Bless you!
Haha thanks Mark!!
Very cool man, nice little vase

Thank you sir, much appreciated!! 😁
Nice job Tim I love the complex simplicity of this one if that makes sense? 👌
Thanks Dave! I know what you mean, didn't need to be fully hollowed out, did it anyway haha. I was going to add a couple more grain lines but two was plenty, glad I stopped there 😂
@@tfturning yeah I agree it’s perfect 👌🏻
Nice little vase. Leaving the sneeze in was a added bonus 😂
Was it winter when you filmed tbis because you appear to be wearing a jacket?
Cheers Stuart! It was actually made on Friday just gone, technically during British summer time 😂 I know as a nation we complain about the weather a fair bit but as June's go, this one is a bit chilly still.
@@tfturning I’ve noticed that Brits complain about all the liquid sunshine they get in the summer 😂. Move to my part of the USA and get melted in the summer. It’s been in the mid 90’s (F) the past few days. I’m ready for some cool down!
