  • Part 2 of the restoration of our 1973 Volkswagen Type 2. Our Bus, Lily, came with home made drop spindles installed in the front suspension. After weeks of hunting down stock height spindles I finally found someone selling late bay window ones on thesamba. Unfortunately, we received early bay window spindles, so our break calipers did not fit on them. After waiting another month for an adapter bushing kit to arrive from Europe, we were finally able to lift our bus back to factory height.
Lily still has undersized tires, so she sits about an inch lower than a factory bus would.
Future videos include LED headlights, fire suppression system, folding rock and roll seat/bed, and much more.

From one spindle legend to another: looking clean! Oddly satisfying to watch this during my walk. Nice work

And it drives so much better. Still need to get proper sized tires to get actual factory height back.

A lot of work, even making a tool yourself! I want to lower my bus though. I guess we can see how you feel driving with "Stock" front height soon in the next video.

It’s such a better ride and driving experienced back at normal height. The rear was never lowered so it had a nose down look that I really didn’t like. I also just don’t like the look of slammed bays.

Are the nuts the right type ? Latebay wheels use Rounded not Tapered nuts, good choose to change from those pirate spindels
