most people see budget cuts caused the EOTV and jump to thinking that it was lack of funding actually NGE had quite a bit of money but they lacked enough time to do what they wanted. near the end of NGEs production episodes were sometimes handed off hours before they had to go live. this is seen in the fact that they saw prudent to remake several rushed scenes in the episodes 20-24 with the directors cut. not to mention the sneak peeks for the next episode being seen in a rough draft state.
further more most people think EOE was an attempt to hit back at fans who sent the studio death threats for the original ending. this is largely untrue as several points of EOE such as asuka fighting the MP evas, the jssdf invasion, the elevator scene with shinji and misato , and shinji destroying individuality were either seen in the episode 24 sneak peak (in a very rough draft version) or is referenced in episode 25 or 26.

This was powerful and very serious. More than ever, these kind of messages need to be stressed. I've always agreed with the idea that children are the future because they are. We have to make the path for them if we are to make a better world and only through positive influence, responsibility, and accountability will that happen. I want to make a positive difference and without any ego attached because it can cause problems. Make a difference without expecting anything out of it because it's the right thing to do and the world we need.

@@kat8559 Oh absolutely, I was just answering the inquiry on what the Kabbalah symbol meant, or why they were called 'angels.' There is certainly something to be read in Evangelion, such as reducing humanity to its natural state within the Garden, but the author's intent was just to be interesting--much in the same way Death Note's use of Christianity was.

I think aesthetics are a perfectly valuable and meaningful thing to implement into a work. To me a lot of the religious stuff is there more for atmospheric elements then anything else. To add a sense of grand ness to the apocalyptic events. It gives it a sort of cosmic horror feeling, seeing things you recognize placed in wag that goes beyond your comprehension.

    • @JKKoneofakind

some of the judeo-chistian imagery and mythology was heavily coated in some gnostic ideas and themes that resonate with the story. while ive heard the "just an aesthetic" sentiment for a long time (even from anno himself(?)), ive come to doubt this. im not really here to write an essay on this, but there is no doubt the homework was done on a variety ancient religious sects. sure, giant robots and angels exploding into lazer-crosses is absolutely awesome and rad and probably doesnt have any deeper meaning beyond a freaking lazer-cross, that is most certainly not the end of the biblical symbolism present all throughout evangelion.
tldr, anno most certainly did his homework on kabbalah and ancient dead sea gnostic christian sects when crafting the world of evangelion.

Evangelion, is ultimately triggering to me. As not only does it trigger my grief for my childhood friend, but also the social isolation of Quarantine, as well as my own adolescent trauma as well. Admittedly, I made the mistake of watching the End of Evangelion first before viewing the series, as much of the fandom said it to be a better ending than episodes 25 and 26. Big mistakes. EoE triggered me on such a monumental scale, that it gave me nightmares about the Third Impact. To make matters worse, I viewed it right after the suicide of my childhood friend, and right before the Pandemic hit the United States. As you can imagine, I became paranoid.
Shinji was a coping mechanism, for everything that was going on, as everything that had happened to me was in layman's terms, a "Psychological Domino effect", all of which I was forced to cope with during Quarantine with little to no therapy whatsoever, making it all the more difficult. During that time, I felt so sorry for Shinji, that I wanted to die for him, in the delusion I could sacrifice my happiness for him, feeling my fate was inescapable. Moreover, at one point in time, I was just like Shinji, that being during high school, wherein I was a "loser" and a target for those to belittle me.
I sought emotional refuge with the Evangelion fandom to cope with the events that have happened. They claimed that Evangelion was supposedly a cure for depression. I learned this during Lockdown, and of course, I was afraid of undergoing depression again, so I took their word for it; let Evangelion consume me in spite of how triggering it was to me, in the hopes I would no longer be alone, that being part of the fandom could help me feel like a part of a community in all the pandemical pandemonium. Little did I know that instead of a house of intellectuals, it would be a den of degenerates.
For over two years, I have been cyberbullied by the Evangelion fandom for my depression and trauma. It's the ultimate irony. A fandom, dedicated to praising a series that portrays the cost and trauma and depression, downplayed my own. Much like Anno after he worked on the series, I received hate speech and death threats, especially when I told them how much I related to Shinji and hated Evangelion because of how much it brought me pain. To add insult to injury, they turned my cry for help, titled "Message in a Bottle", into a copypasta to spite me. To make matters worse, they even created a rumor of me being a zoophile as well as a pedophile merely based on gossip surrounding my past, even blamed me for the suicide of my childhood friend. Never since High School have I felt so humiliated.
I hate myself because I hate Evangelion. I hate how I couldn't achieve the same absolution, the same self-love, the same closure, and the same resolution, and enlightenment as Shinji did in the original series, and I hate how I was made the outcast, and treated like one by the fandom in spite of my attempts to find acceptance.
In spite of the cyber bullying I’ve endured for over a year from the Evangelion fandom, I keep coming back to them, to try and stand up for myself. But it always ends in more emotional damage on my end. They keep saying my trauma and depression are “all in my head” and I’m afraid.
I just want to prove to them that my trauma and depression are real, and not fake like they accused me of, because if it’s real, then at least I know I can get better. I feel insecure about my own mentality. What if they’re right? What if my depression is fake and I never even knew? What if all my triggers are somehow wired in a way that they’re not even there? What if everything I had felt and experienced during Lockdown was a figment of my imagination and I really am clinically insane?
Thus, I often question if I am beyond salvation, whether my fate has been sealed, as I have witnessed much horror that shattered my soul.
I've been trying to contact Hideaki Anno since 2020, but heard nothing from him. I have this belief that if I seek his counsel, he might have the answers for me.

The crucifixion and death of Jesus occurred in 1st-century Judaea, most likely in AD 30 or AD 33. It is described in the four canonical gospels, referred to in the New Testament epistles, attested to by other ancient sources, and considered an established historical event.
The significant difference between Mythology and History is that mythology is based on natural and supernatural beliefs and aspects. On the other hand, historical facts are based on real-life events that occurred in the past.

The audience in the movie theater shown in EoE was from a showing of Death & Rebirth, not watching the conclusion of EoE. Also, NERV is pronounced "nehrf", like German for "nerve", not the English "nerve". You are very welcome.

so like, while we are on the topic of anime tho, are you and/or your other commenters (yes i see you) familiar with Serial Experiments: Lain? it is of course, one of the greatest. i found it myself shortly after getting into anime. a rapid descent from watching eureka seven and flcl on adult swim at like 12, before discovering evangelion, followed by serial experiment: lain, higurashi no nako koro ni, and paranoia agent. probably traumatized my childhood, but i wouldnt have it any other way. if you havent seen any of the works ive mentioned, i highly recommend them all, with the caveat that they all go into some dark themes in one way or another, some more so than others, so be aware. while i have your attention, i also highly recommend anything connected to Satoshi Kon (perfect blue, paprika, paranoia agent), or Junji Ito (Ito does manga, but currently, one of his most famous works (uzumaki) is being faithfully adapted to anime).

I hate the End of Evangelion.
Because it forced me to relive my trauma, I felt mentally violated like Asuka by the angel Arael, it gave me nightmares about the Third Impact.
The reason for this, is because in the beginning of 2020, my childhood friend committed suicide at age 16. This broke me.
But this also triggered my trauma from 10th grade wherein I was bullied from my Autism so much, that my peers sexually assaulted me, and the adults did absolutely nothing to help me. I was very suicidal in those days.
I saw the End of Evangelion by accident after my friend's suicide, and....
To make matters worse, Lockdown was right around the corner. And I was going stark staring paranoid that Eva was predicting my reality.
When I sought emotional support on the Evangelion fandom, hoping they'd understand given the context of the show, they cyberbullied for my depression. It's the ultimate irony; a fandom, dedicated to praising a series that portrays the cost of trauma; downplayed my own. They said it was impossible for me to be traumatized by an anime, and that everything that was happening to me during Lockdown was all in my head. I thought I was going completely insane.
Is it okay to hate Evangelion, even if the fandom hates so much they wish death and eternal suffering upon you for being unable to enjoy it?

      @bugjams 10 месяцев назад +1

No, you're fine for hating Evangelion and it's fanbase. Anno does too, after all. He's gone on record to say he hates how most fans miss the point and go "wow giant robots, biblical metaphors, so cool!!" which was the exact trope he was trying to subvert. You could blame Anno for (frankly) making the Evas too damn cool, but then nobody would've watched it. It's depressing all in its own way, but what are you gonna do.
Just like despite the fact that most Eva fans don't actually "get" what the series is about, yet some do, there are people who will understand your trauma despite the majority mocking you for it. You should try and take hope in that. The people who mock you are irrelevant. What matters is the fact there's people who understand.
