And check out The Gallery, a fucking classic of melodeath, and an album I fell in love with instantly and have loved since. Keep in mind it's kinda old and their sound changed quite a bit afterward...
My first was Haven! Underrated and very different than most of their stuff. Basically, check all albums out haha
The Gallery (1995) and The Mind's I (1997) is their best work hands down.
This brings me back to High School hearing Monochromatic Stains for the first time.

Nader Eltaief each person has a different taste. I prefer less slow mo, more normal speed actions. But IMO, harsh words shouldn't be said to an artist who made the video himself.

I think the new In Flames is still some good music (not everything but most of the new material).
It is not the melodic death metal anymore that made them famous. Now it is more mainstream pop metal that seems to have found some new fans. I prefer the old Stuff.
Why is there always that one person on every At The Gates/Dark Tranquillity/Soilwork video comparing them to In Flames? On top of that, In Flames' sound has been different since Reroute to Remain (so those who don't like RTR had more than a decade to quit on In Flames). In the end, it's all music. Can't we all just enjoy it for what it is?
Of course people can enjoy music for what it is, but do try to understand different opinions. It's not about only respecting change. I think new In Flames sucks, it has become way too clean for a band that was never that extreme to begin with. Anders Friden still can't carry a tune and his tone is terrible, but they still consider it a good idea to water down songwriting and riffs in order to showcase his vocals. Soilwork "evolved" much more than In Flames did; nowadays they are an excellent melodeath band fronted by an extraordinary singer, and they didn't have to kill their riffs to achieve that. "The Ride Majestic" is superior to anything released by In Flames after Clayman by a mile.

this new song can tell that their new album got the awesomeness of their old album Character with a new melodies which is pretty great because you can sense a change without losing their uniqueness.
I think DT is the clear example of how to evolve without losing their personality

To me Haven to Fiction is some of there best work with Character and Fiction being a toss up for which is the best. Construct was ok. We Are the Void they can just leave that one go.
Wish they would have played a song from The Gallery though. I don't think we will ever get anything from Skydancer so...
Dark Tranquillity still kicking ass! Atoma may end up being AOTY with Omnium Gatherum's Grey Heavens. Another great year for melodic death metal!

Winter's Gate is definitely melodic death metal AOTY. Across all metal genres I have to say Terminal Redux by Vektor takes the top spot.
Hunted by Khemmis is a very strong candidate for AOTY as well.
Dark tranquility is the reason I didnt ditch death metal as a whole. They're really a pride in the genre

No need to compare the two. This is a Dark Tranquillity video. Not an In Flames video. And look, In Flames shouldn't have to stay the same just to please you and other hecklers. If you could open your mind and see how far they've come by not being afraid to try something new, you'd see the genius in their new material. There are A TON of gems that people otherwise discard and never come back to. Hopefully, you can at least try to love them or give them a chance.
Well, that's your opinion. What's "weaker" to you may create more of an impact on someone else. Nobody's the same. All I'm saying is 1: This isn't an In Flames video, so let people enjoy Dark Tranquillity and 2: In Flames is simply doing what they've always done, which is trying something new. Whether anyone likes their new material or not, In Flames deserves respect for having the guts to keep changing (for better or for worse) and commit to their work for over two decades. In Flames We Trust.
Well, again, that's your opinion. What you don't think is good may be good to other people. and the same thing applies to In Flames with albums having their own vibe and tinge. And if you don't see it, that's fine. You don't have to like them. But ever since they started, their sound was always something different and unique that inspired a lot of other later musicians. If you put aside all the negativity and (maybe) hop off the bandwagon that biases against them, you'd see that they never quit changing up their sound and each album they put out is unique in its own way.

Ozzie Perez, on one hand you have a point, but I cannot explain why IF is such a hot topic, since many other bands changed their music...And I must say I totally agree with onewithmyself about his/her reasons not to like IF and Metallica new stuff. Speaking about Metallica (but this doesn't apply to IF) I'm old enough to remember their stupid statements about videos and money. They used to say they refused to make any videos cos they wanted to stay "underground". Yeah, right. Hence the haters imo.

In Flames dies, DT rises
DT rises, but I don't think you need to make fun of In Flames. They're doing things their way and they love it. You may not understand them now, but hopefully someday you will. All I can say is to keep an open mind and put yourself in their shoes.
I've tried, and Sounds of a Playground Fading is interesting, but Siren Charms is simply (and objectively) weak... And hearing how they seem to keep up that pace (maybe a little more "extreme" than in siren but still) I think I lost all hope in them
I don't get how Siren Charms was weak. It was pretty good to me. I was skeptical when I first heard it, but when I saw the energy of the songs off of that album live, I realized how amazing of an album it was.
the funny thing with in flames(and sad really) is that they say they want to evolve and not repeting themselves by doing whoracle part2 and 3 in response to their mainstream music etc but it's been more than 10 years that they do the same shit over and over again
In Flames live suck more than in their albums, wich is something pretty dificult to do, because their new albums are realyy really bad. Proof of that is their new dvd. On the other hand Dark Tranquillity live is such an amazing experience, I hope to see them again with this new album :) The thing with In Flames is that many people (myself included) love their old era and hate their new era equally.
