Chris Targia, I think Mikael's clean vocals has evolved a lot from Projector, although I prefer his growling style (that makes him my fave singer) by far.
Stanne has been delivering those amazing vocals for quite a while.

This album got me through my first loss, every song could resonate with some feeling I had during my grief, if I ever get the chance to meet them, I'll thank them, because without them my grief would have killed me. Ive come so close to just ending it all, but thanks to this music, I can keep going.
This band never disappoints. Hail Mikael Stanne! After all these years his voice still better than 90% of Metal vocalists. I can't wait to see them live in New Mexico.

I don't think "we built a sorrow wall" is correct; I think it sounds more like "we built this on our own", though slightly mispronounced

The "will overcome" sounds exactly like "we'll overcome" would, but the latter sounds to me like it's more in line with the more optimistic tone of the song,

There is possible to do clean vocals, borderline electric riffs and softer tones without sounding total bullshit.
Here is the prime example.
Well, I'm a big fan of weird cross-style music (Blood Stain Child anybody?). And there is something in this song that made me love it.
I would say that DT stepped only one from the genre while IF made 2 or even 3 steps not in the right direction. Which sucks, because they are one of my favorite bands.

Loomy, DT has been doing this style since the late 90's with Projector and Haven... if anything they haven't changed enough. No idea where you're getting the idea that they've changed into anything 'pop'-like.
it is modern touch not pop. and completely fine to be little bit progressive.
The difference is that Dark Tranquility make it work, their music doesn't sound cheesy and forced. Unlike In Flames.
I have always felt that music can heal. There have been many a time where I've felt the cold steel on my throat and for a second stopped and put on music. This is one of those songs that makes me stop and give me hope to overcome. "what's underneath will overcome"

Love the feeling of listening to a band after coming back to them since your teenage days. So satisfying, DT's sound still gives me goosebumps.

At the age of 26, i still hail the effort DT puts in music. Melody was what i got when i was 11, no one gives a fuck these days. But the memory remains. Thank you DT, thank you for all of these.

This is just a great song! It's very atmospheric like Dark Tranquillity always is, but another flavor than their fast songs. I can see myself listening to this on rainy city nights, looking or longing for something or someone... Whether you listen to At The Gates, In Flames or Arch Enemy... Dark Tranquillity definitely earns their place among them as Gods of melodic death!

Damn, I just realized that tomorrow will be this song's anniversary.
I randomly stumbled upon a Dark Tranquillity song today and it started a DT listening. The first song I had to blast was Atoma, it holds a special place in my heart and my life's philosophy, the first verse is a core component of my determination and self-esteem that I repeat to myself whenever I'm in doubt. (Paracelse's law being the other one - the dose makes the poison)
Thank you DT, 6 years ago I was very depressed, a lot of things kept me alive and I'm thankful for all of them, but this song still prevents me from falling to this day, a true masterpiece I'll cherish 'til I fall.

I used to love DT so much and kinda stopped paying attention after Damage Done (just got burned out on metal for the most part, honesty). I've been listening to Atoma for the last couple days and holy shit... I love it. I can't believe how good they still are. I was worried they'd be like new In Flames stuff or something, lol. To me this is a textbook example of how to combine growling/heavy guitars and drums with keyboards and clean vocals. I love it.
