Underrated? He is probably one of the most regarded and respected drummers in Europe, especially in Germany. I cannot speak for the U.S., cause i´ve never been there. But in Europe he´s a living legend.
If Animal from the Muppets were real he would be Mikkey Dee ... this has to be one of the most incredible, precise and awe inspiring rock drum solos Ive ever heard .
I met him back when King Diamond was doing the THEM tour. I managed to convince the crew to let me work as a roadie. I helped set the kit up and the rest of the stage. I had a blast. They even let me see the show for free! I met Mikkey Dee as well and hung out with him backstage (Pics to prove it too) and the whole band including the KING were very friendly. No attitudes and what not. Just happy to be appreciated. Dee is one of my influences as a drummer :) Rock on!
I just saw em' in Kingston the other night and it was WILD. At the end of it he started juggling the sticks while playing. My eyes were glued. Exceptional.
Saw MOTORHEAD at local bar, 1st Ave, Minneapolis, remembering this long blonde hair drummers solo, completly shaking the walls, one of my top R&R experiences. Thanks to tube so I could see this again!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw Motorhead & Saxon in Manchester, I'm a fan of saxon myself but i was dissapointed with them, but Motorhead were AMAZING!!! And it was was the 3rd time i've seen them!! The best yet!

A friend of mine lent me the first King Diamond solo record back when it was released; I gave it back to him the next week and told him I couldn't care less about the band -but the drummer was serious!!! Mikkey is still too underrated.

you can't train to be that good, he's got one hell of a gift. When he has a break in the middle he still kicks ass!!! Motorhead are lucky as f**k to have him.
mikkey is so much better then most if not all metal drummers he acctully incorporates other styles, can acctully stay at the same pace and has dynamics in his playing
yeah i agree with you aswell,its crazy how lemmy chased mikkey to be in motorhead as hes more of a technical drummer rather than hard rock. i like some songs off motorizer, but yeah they seem to have slowed a little, but theres no harm in showing your ageing a little :P im just glad lemmys still alive, thats an achievement itself!
I won't put him above Benny Greb or Chris Coleman but this is a damn fine rock - arena solo. He keeps it moving, does not try to play cross-stick\ghost licks for the drummers in the crowd, he just pours out the energy and the impact and makes people want to scream and stomp. And that is what a rock concert is for...right?

Best drummer what ever you guys says. Mikkey dee are the most powerful drummer and the guy who has most energy. He just played a song and then then he making a kick ass drum solo without any rest and after the drum solo he's playing a song agin. THAT FUCKING NICE !!!!!!!
Saw King Diamond back in the day and Motorhead a few years ago, both in the same small club, and Mikkey KICKED ASS both times! Imagine this caliber of solo and drumming from about 10 feet away! Got to drink beers and talk to him for about an hour after the Motorhead show and he's the fuckin' coolest, most down to earth guy. Very humble with no ego whatsoever. IMO, Mikkey Dee would wipe his ass with Joey Jordison.

Watched many solos, Rush, Copeland god knows who else. This is a ROCK solo. Amazing skills and fucking awesome rythym. Not saying anyone is worse or better until you hit a true jazz drummer but Just awesome to hear and air drum.
Very nice,also if nothing so new.. those are things..."easy" (not misunderstand me,in the good meaning.."simple" xD) and very effective,musical..very well executed too... those toms are really high btw,amazing!! They should be that way,30 cm higher than snare drum,but it's so hard.... he play with that drum set so strange to me,I wouldn't be able just to do a fill between the 2 central toms and the snare!! :D amazing, really cool...and great sound

Mikkey delivered top performance at Rock in Rio, Madrid 2010 - outstanding. Met him at the airport day after - easy going cool guy as well.
