    Whoever put the 5-speed in there deserves an award. The SS's should of had that option from the factory...probably woulda sold more.

      If Monte SS’s came with a 350 5 speed they would have been BEASTS !!! IF ONLY !!! 🤷‍♂️

      I swapped in a T5 from a Z28 into my 85' Monte SS back around 94'-95' when I was just out of high school and there were no conversion kits available like there are now. The clutch pedal geometry was not ideal, but man oh man did that car wake UP!

      @@O.G.BFrmDaWstSd Mexican '84 Monte Carlo SS's came with V8 350 and 4-speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter. Other features are the "checkerboard" wheels, no rear spoiler and Pontiac Grand Prix dash and cluster.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you for putting this video up. Im in the process of converting my 1986 MC SS to a T5 speed. Very nice car, I seen it all over the net on many different sites. ...one of a kind....

    A shame that they only converted this one car, (as far as anyone knows) but that fact alone makes it all but untouchable! The only 1985 Monte Carlo SS of it's kind! Ever!! 👍

    But these frames under the monte's
    The g-bodies were less than strong enough. There are places that you can buy the whole frame plus you can add front ends and rear suspensions even pick what type of
    rear axle you would pick and small block or big block mounts. Its got different stages you can order.

    185 hp Monte Carlo "SS" was a pathetic slow car. GM blew it putting in a 305. and should have put in the 5.7....

    • @jamesvw769
      @jamesvw769 4 года назад +1

      Agree puttting a 5 speed in there and leaving a junk stock 305 130 horse power was a complete waist of time. My little 1.8 liter honda would smoke that Monte. Indeed a shame. The induction hood was also a waste of time and money.

      To each there own, but is it like, a disrespect to change a classic ss to stick shift??... I like manual and wanted to do this as a project but didn't know if it is morally right to do since there isn't too many "REAL" SS Monte Carlos... opinions?
