@Tony Ballantyne Very sad and people talked about it for years afterwards, such was its impact on the local community.

I met James Dawson he went on to marry he and his wife had one daughter. James passed away some years back. They were a lovely family his wife was devoted to him.

Tragic beyond belief. There were various similar incidents all around Scotland during and after the war years. I came across a story about a twelve-year-old from Fraserburgh who stood on a mine while looking for gull eggs near St Fergus in May 1945. And even after the war, the carnage continued. Alongside various fatal incidents involving military mine clearance teams, there were reports of youths all around Scotland throwing stones at exposed mines on the local beaches. I suppose it will be the same in Ukraine.

I've heard of a few cases of youngsters being either killed or maimed by mines etc Just awful that these incidents took place, and I agree. It will happen there too once the war is over, and more young lives will be lost.
