It's called a bowfin, and has several other nicknames. It's found in lots of swampy areas of the southern US.
Yea my granddad called them a Grinnel but Bowfin is their actual name. You can find them all over the south but mostly along the river counties here in Mississippi.

You should do a video on how the white guys do this in Oklahoma and Eastern Arkansas. It's called "Noodling" and they use their hands for bait and put their hands under submerged debris and rocks. When a catfish bites into their hand, they make a fist and pull it up.

There is an edit right before he lifts the fish out of the water. His hands go from under the gills to over the fishes eyes as he pulls the fish out of the water. Something is off here.
