Im a Bills fan through and through, but Ive always had a soft spot for the Vikings. Something endearing about smaller market northern teams (that aren't the Packers). I consider Minny my NFC team, so hoping they hit gold on this draft and get their franchise QB. Good luck to all you die hard Vikings fans!

No matter what we do next week, portions of this fanbase will shit on it. People been calling for us to trade up and get a QB for years, now half the fans don't want us to move up when we're in a decent position to do so. This is the best chance we've had in years to go get our franchise QB (and the guy KOC wants) and now people want us to stay at 11 and take the 5th or 6th guy.

Question: if the Vikes give up 11, 23 and next years first for NE’s 3rd overall. Is it possible to add a stipulation that if that first next year is a top 10 pick they also owe us and 3rd rounder (or 2nd) next year? (Could you ask for their first if we ended up giving them l the #1 pick?). This would be a way to hedge our bet so we don’t look like the panthers? I feel like it’s legal to do and all it takes is some creativity to make a trade to 3 happen that will make everyone happy.

I sincerely hope that if we do draft a quarterback early in this draft, they let that quarterback marinate for the entire first year. There's no rush to jam this guy in. We've watched the Packers do this three times in a row with great success. Why would you push the start someone halfway through the season unnecessarily. Let them learn the offense let them get used to the speed of the NFL and become familiar with the playbook for the first year. If they do take McCarthy they will have to trade Jones. I dont see another team wanting to trade for Jones. So what now they cut him and take a huge cap hit and owner loses 50 mil. McCarthy is a consistent 3-4 on the upside/downside.
If you want someone who is safe and pro ready, go with McCarthy. If you want someone who is more likely to bust but if you hit on him, he’ll be the 2-3 best QB in the league, go with Maye.

No it doesn’t. It will be whatever it is. Cards don’t give a shit that the Chargers aren’t at 5. Why would they charge more because the Raiders or Broncos are now at 5? Cardinals are either willing to trade or they aren’t. If they are, they will accept a reasonable offer rather than losing out on the additional draft capital.
The only way the price is impacted is if the Chargers get more or less than expected. That would impact the negotiation.
Situation is moot anyway. Nobody is trading to 5 if the Cards are actually open for business unless the Pats take a non-QB and there are two QBs available.

How do you figure? Maye was terrible under pressure. All those 3rd and longs McCarthy completed to help Michigan to big first half leads? Gone. Maye isn’t leading the team back against Bama. Natty? Gone. Maye lacks the intangibles and leadership and plays small in big moments. He becomes a checkdown QB when pressured. Guess what? McCarthy was pressured behind the Michigan line as much as Maye was. When the QB’s yards per attempt become sub 5 with sub 50% accuracy under pressure, that is a huge problem. Michigan has two or three losses with Maye as their QB last year.
