@@CKology Hi I have not lived there for over 50 years but it still hurts to see what has become of my country and for the many servicemen who gave their lives in two world wars to keep the country free from tyranny. And yes I am happy and content living here in Thailand. Cheers Ged
Ha! Z cars and Dixon of Dock Green ... " evenin all" ... yes great classics of great times. Good video ..watching had mixed emotions of happy days now very sad and shocking days. Life back in the 60s was a great era. Iv been to Thailand and after visiting again for 3 months this year Im leaving UK this October to live in Hua Hin and explore more from there. Watching all this terrible violence and unrest plus all the rising costs, I cant wait to be back in the land of smiles where the pace of life is relaxed and people are happy and respectful to eachother.❤
Just reading about you in a small news paper here in Perth! The Senior! Been reading your youtube posts for a while! 👍👍👍what the article doesnt mention (and dont exactly now the rules) is if you retire overseas before your eligible for your pension and come back to OZ you need to spend 2 years here before you can go back and receive the pension! When and why is this the case? Keep up the good work Ged 👍👍👍
Hi Jeffrey. Thanks for your message and input. I retired to Thailand in 2017 at the age of 65 without a problem with my pension, however, as you know with governments, they keep changing the goalposts and I now believe the age is 67. I have never kept up with the changes but I know of retirees who came to Thailand after I did who were treated differently than I was as they changed some rules and requirements and they have struggled to get their full pensions paid overseas. I don’t understand why as if you have lived, worked and paid taxes for over 50 years you have earned your pension. But I am happy that I lived in Australia most of my life because in the country I was born in, England, your pension is frozen from the day you leave the country. So, if you retired to Thailand in the year 2000 your pension has never gone up in 24 years. Whereas the cost of living has probably doubled. Regarding writing for magazines, I have been quite busy lately as I have also done some articles for International Living Magazine and the UK's Retirement Today Magazine I have attached the links. I have also attached a link to my own magazine about retiring in Thailand that may be of interest to you if you're contemplating living here one day. Police Sirens have become common place in many UK towns recently, I guess most people have had enough of the implosion of immigrants (illegal or not) taking over & being given funding, housing, food, phones...turning many places into no go areas for the authentic British people. Many places have indeed become unrecognisable 😞
@@keepitreal1547 It's been happening for many years with none of the governments, conservative or labour having the sense to deal with it. They are supposed to be there to do the will of the British people but sadly they only care about being in power and feathering their own nests not what is good for the country
Hi Ged, Are you going to be around on August 24? I will be flying in from China in the morning and thought I might head down to Hua Hin for a day before flying back to the US.
its a sad reflection on not just this but many many british cities, people are frustrated and and angry at feeling like second class citizens in their home country, its a very complex set of issues and the spark was a young guy going into a dance class and killing 3 young girls and stabbing many more, but as always there was a lot of anger and resentment already bubbling under the surface, britain is my home and i love it but it is not the England i once knew, a huge influx or migrants to many to quick is putting huge stresses on to many places and people dont like it,

A lot of Western countries are changing so much, which is a shame. I just sincerely hope that all the ex pats retiring to Thailand don't change its culture or peaceful lifestyle
@@michaelbaker9542 Hi Michael. I don't think that the Thais would allow us to change anything. We only get one year retirement visas and if we cause any problems out we go. Leave it up to the British and Russians, they will ruin Thailand.
You should have a good perspective as an immigrant yourself.
