Okay ! Okay ! Okay!.... I know I'm slow and I haven't posted much but I do want to start posting more videos... a Victor Wooten cover maybe ?... just bought a 6 string... that could be.... Anyway, also I wanted to let you all know that I'm working on a new project besides UneXpecT where the 9 string shall shine in all it's mighty glory!! So I will keep you posted for that and will soon open a new RUclips channel for that project.... Very excited about this... More soon.... This time... I promise...
Hey, Thank you all so much for the nice WORDS (yeah, I had to do it) but this video is really just about my hair... So yeah, I might have another one coming. This is only a first, I will for sure put a couple more out either from UneXpecT's material or instructional shit... Requests and Ideas are welcome. Love -ChaotH
I dont now what happened to you guys, but this was and still is some of the most incredible music ever written. I would give every cent I have if it would guarantee a fruitful musical career for you guys. I'm sorry the worlds musical taste isn't at this level yet. But god damn, you guys created masterpiece after masterpiece, I hope yall never felt like anything less. Here's hoping one day well see you again.
This song is beautiful on so many levels; each vocalist and instrument is creating their own work of art and it's a mental exercise just to keep up with them all when they're playing. The intro is my favorite; at first the bass meshes with the calmness of the other instruments, and then at 0:45 it changes completely -- the slap bass almost makes it sound sinister, or angry. Unexpect is so friggin' awesome, I'd love to see these guys live.
Dude, this is amazing.. Reminds me of the Bhagavad Gita for some reason.. then you know it's bound to be epic. Thanks. You really inspire me. I actually covered this (as much as I could) a few years ago on a 4 string tuned BEAD. So yeah, thanks for that journey. ATB! Peace
It always astounds me how little you seem to be trying when I watch this video, but then again that's what talented people do: make things look a hell of a lot easier than they really are.
Sweet kidneys of columbus... that's absolute insanity. You certainly use that thing to the fullest, and I must say - Fables is easily becoming yet again, my favorite album of the year. I seriously haven't seen a band do what Unexpect does - it's an amalgamation of harmonies, melodies, dissonance, and cacophonies that somehow merges to create a complete and utter aural pleasure. And that's putting it lightly. This album will be on repeat for MANY many months to come, if not infinitely.
Really appreciated the talent in this video. It is very inspiring. Some serious playing chops. Once you start tapping theres no looking back. Great song as well, very different.
You're a genius on the bass, and because of that, you're my favourite bassist. You guys blew me away in Toronto. Nice job on the newest album! Please inform us when UneXpecT is back in town. Thank you!
Yeah, we will be hitting Toronto this spring... We didn't play the Ontario dates with BTBAM because we were busy getting some sun on our asses on the 70000 tons of metal festival! Craaaazy ass week... Check back for dates in the springtime
So awesome. Most people I've seen with extended range basses make it seem like a novelty but with the seamless way you blend different techniques it couldn't be more natural. Amazing bass/player/band.
Yaaaoooo braaaoooo..... Very possible to play this on a 6 actually. I use ''ONLY'' 7 strings to play this song so you could easily shrink it to 6. Tuning would be E, A, D, G, C, F (basically step up a 4th from original tuning). Song is in E minor.. If you do cover it... please send a link!
ChaotH, please, tell Syriak and Artagoth tha they need to make a video like this, of they playing guitars. Sorry my bad english, greetings from Argentina
@AttitudeCastle Yo Yo Wotup... Indeed... tuning is 'regular' Fsharp to Bb... all fourths all the way. I don't use the bottom string that often, I end up hitting it 4 or 5 times in a full hour of set. Thanks for the nice words and, make sure to get a bass your comfortable playing. If you see the use for the extra string, go for it.
It's from the song Unsolved Ideas of a Distorted Guest by Unexpect, which is the first song on the album that Words is from, eg Fables of the Sleepless Empire.
OOO! You have your own channel! A year ago I was looking for some contacts\information of you, haha) Man, thanks a lot for your music, your playing! Stay so progressive and great!
Sooooo.... I saw that some ballsy bass players are covering that song and I think it's amazing.... I know squirrelxk2 worked hard on those tabs and figuring out what the hell I'm playing here so... I decided I would upload the full Tabs... I'll try to lay them all down this week and I'll be posting them in the next days... Cheers!
Wow. That was great. The best 9 string I have found on youtube. All the othes just play the high end or mario brothers. I will now go find your album. Thanks!
@Chao7h How do you have your 9 string tuned? F# - Bb? How much do you use the bottom string? I'm thinking about getting an 8 string made you see and i'm trying to decide whether to just go for a 9 or how to tune it (for the pickups and nut you see i'd rather get them right first time!) And you use your 9 string beautifully!
Just started playin bass a little over 2 years ago. I like to think that if i just keep playing and enjoying it eventually i can be the best player in the world. Watching this video, i can tell i have a long way to go until i reach that point
The important part is that your aim is way up high. What matters is mentally creating that possibility... You don't take paths that you don't see, so understanding that it is a possibility makes all the difference. Passion. Practice. Peace.
Choath man you have got to be one of the best bass players going man. I hope to one day have a bass player for my band (when ever I get it started lol) to even be a fraction as good as you are man. unexpect rules biatch lmao
Wow, you'd expect a 9 string 8 finger tapping bassist to be more flash, but instead the extra strings and technique actually made something I'd listen to more than once. This sounds fantastic. Its not all death metal shredding and riffing on the f# and b string like many extended range players. Well done.
Damn dude, you are amazing bass player and I have to admit that UneXpect is already one of my favourite bands even tho I heard of it for the first time just about a month ago. Keep up the good work! ^^
@Chao7H hey, did you work up how many string you had on your bass (as in going from 4, to 5, to 7, to 9), and how long have you been playing to gain this experience?
Will do once its completed. There's a guy on the unexpect forums currently going through and fixing what I got wrong and attempting to add in the other instruments he figured out. I'll keep the comments section here updated on when I get hold of the finished product.
@Chao7H Oh one last question! (Sorry!) After numerous listens to this and the album, the tone is just awesome. Who makes the pickups? Or are the Bee Bass house pickups? The bottom end is awesome!
MAN TA TAB EST PU DISPONIBLE.
You're probably the first person i've seen using a 9 string to actually enhance a song, rather than just showing off. Bravo sir.
This guy is a seriously underrated bassist. Easily one of the best. He fuses technicality and musicality so flawlessly its insane.
a seriously

***** Many interest
LeHumaani wow
You can post whatever you want, Im sure it will be awesome
Morning Star de Michael Manring !!!
Fluently switching between tapping and slap and pop. Glorious. Just glorious
Also, your hair is absolutely sick. 10/10
Hey, Thank you all so much for the nice WORDS (yeah, I had to do it) but this video is really just about my hair...

Same here, I feel like i discovered them far too late! It was like love at first sound. Regular music can't even compete anymore.
They disbanded, as there wasn't enough general interest in their music, which to me is ludicrous. I'd happily Crowdfund them to at least tour again.
@@divinefallfromgracesrsly, I’d pay an embarassing amount of money to just see these guys live
@@rosechild3885 Yep, same here.

that guitar looks ancient and powerful
Please upload more videos like this man, I can't get enough of watching this!
It always astounds me how little you seem to be trying when I watch this video, but then again that's what talented people do: make things look a hell of a lot easier than they really are.
Easily one of the greatest bass players alive. The amount of talent this man has is truly incredible.
Bring your ass here and upload more video. You (and UneXpecT) are amazing!
You know what... you're right.... I need to upload more.... More stuff... I need more stuff....
Chao7H I see that you are very concerned about your fans. I love how you take care of our questions. My favorite bass player by far.
Sweet kidneys of columbus... that's absolute insanity. You certainly use that thing to the fullest, and I must say - Fables is easily becoming yet again, my favorite album of the year. Incredible musician and incredible band! I wish more guitar tabs existed for UneXpect because I'd really love to learn this style of music.
You are amazing!
I saw both of your shows on the cruise. I love your style and I hope I can see you again!
Really appreciated the talent in this video. It is very inspiring. Some serious playing chops. Once you start tapping theres no looking back. Great song as well, very different.
People think my 6 string is crazy...
I saw you perform back when Unexpect came to Toronto in November. Man, still amazed at how you do what you do.
I had this song stuck in my head a while back, glad I found it here.
As epic as always.
Beautiful music, beautiful dreads, and beautiful bass. :)
He should play on Frederik Thordendal's next Special Defects album...
no he should play a piano
both you and Forest are two of the best bassists to analyze! everythings very crisp, cant wait to see more videos!
Hey man; very late response, but check out Jared Smith from Archspire, if you haven't already. Also Canadian. Must be something in the water... 😄
@@divinefallfromgrace Hugo who's currently in Beyond Creation is a beast as well, he also played in Equipoise's album Demiurgus and it's jaw dropping

Usually I don;t really like songs with heavy bass in it till I got in to Unexpect. You truly are talented!
Rock on!
I have been wanting high quality videos of Chaoth for so long, i shall study this and potential others hard. Thanks for taking the time sir

Not just amazing and fluid use of different techniques, but done on a 9-string and without any hint of pretentiousness. Well done!
