The way i see it, since it's an f2p games most People who play it just want to shoot something and see it disintegrating. And, it's excellent in Destiny 2.
I remember how badass it was to be at 270 power level with a legendary in every slot. This was as much exciting as having like full godrolls trials armor now.

This isn't just a destiny problem. So many big games get high scores they don't deserve.
No joke, Destiny 1 and 2 are some of Joe's best reviews. He knocks it out of the park and doesn't buy into the hype, just fairly reviews its good and bad.
D1 is the more epic one. I watch them both all the time lmao
It's the best thing about Joe. He's just himself. Not that he doesn't work hard, or have bad performances, or try new things, but he's always exactly who he advertises himself as.
Apart from the fact that he lied about playing the Raid (people looked up his gamertag when he released this review and he literally hadn't even touched the Raid), and the fact that the whole Raid segment is just outright wrong. They just had a really shitty team, and it was actually too hard for them.
Imagine talking shit about Dark Souls because its too hard. Fuck outta here. They were just genuinely shit players, and couldn't get through the Raid.

Looking back at this it's funny that the earlier you got the game, the worse it was. Eventually base game became free, bungie ran out of activision with it's license, and stuff like Shaders, codex entries, lore in general, and engrams with progression got better.

Yeah, but with the game the way it was at base, you still have to review it for what it is at launch, and if these AAA devs can't provide the necessary amount of content in their game at the beginning but make us wait for it down the road just to complete the game and make it better, then it doesn't really deserve much praise from reviewers.

Bungie got caught rigging the XP system. Players were told they gained a certain XP when in fact it was throttled down. This was an attempt to sell more Bright Engrams.

@@predatoryzzx I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the true standard of taking care of your teeth is to brush after every meal. Since the majority of people can't/won't, next best thing is to brush in the morning after the first meal/ before but waiting that half hour, than at night after all eating is done. Also floss at the end of each day.

The gunplay is amazing. The design is amazing. Bungie is greedy af but to say destiny 2 is trash is ridiculous. Its easily the best fps mmo.

- Bounty simulator
- Season pass
- Season activities not being refreshed and left behind in new seasons (forges, nightmares, menagerie)
- Re-used enemy types since D1
- Eververse taking all the good cosmetics
- Weapon sunsetting
- Fear Of Missing Out for previous content (planets being removed next season)
- Piggybacking off of last point, removing content from the game in general
- New Light experience for new players confusing and bad
- Not all story missions replayable, only on weekly playlist
- Time sink that's too steep for any casual player
It literally has NOT changed since D1. Even worse, Bungie are removing planets and campaigns from previous expansions because they aren't making a new game instead. I don't know how you can justify that. I paid like hundreds of dollars for the content they're removing.
Balake that content is being remvoed becuase the game is getting to big like gig wise. That content has been in the game for years and is hardly played so it’s being vaulted to be brought back at a later date. Sunsetting was something that was needed in the previous years of destiny becuase a few weapons have reigned supreme for years. Would you want them to take away all of your loot and progress just to make a new game so that we don’t loose mercury or something. No becuase if they did you would be up in arms about that. Also entire campaigns are able to be replayed you just have to do them in order. You get them from holiday. Piggybacking on the last point makes no sense, it’s a continuous story that’s how it works duh. Ever verse I agree is a problem and is being neutered in September bungie has already said exactly what there doing to it and there taking almost everything out and putting in the game. I don’t understand you people that constantly complain about the game and say how shit it is but you keep playing. You say you’ll quit but they once next season comes out you’ll be right back on board.

The game is actually in a great state now with the forsaken dlc. I'm not gonna excuse its shitty launch and the fact that you have to pay 120 bucks total for the game and all the expansions, but as a long time fan of destiny, its refreshing to see bungie finally getting something right.

Anthem is the worst of the looter shooter genre. Destiny is second best and borderlands well borderlands destroys every other one. Destiny 1 at the end was extremely close to borderlands destiny 2 doesnt even compare and since anthem cant even compare to the division anthem really does suck. I recommend warframe over that game and I fucking think warframe is a overhyped piece of gutter trash.

Old video at this point, but yes, the guy who came up with the complex system for the original Halo trilogy's A.I did indeed leave Bungie. Can't blame him, most of the OG devs abandoned the studio rather quickly after departing from Microsoft.
Halo has some of the best AI in gaming.

To be fair, most CEO, CFOs, VPs, etc do not watch videos like this. The same person who can run a game company is the one who can run a shoe company, etc. There's an expectation that these guys like games or know who people like Joe are. What realistically happens is they have media outreach/PR people who tell them what the general response is and how they are trending one way or the other. That same group could easily show Joe punching what could be construed to represent the corporate leadership. Obviously someone who knows what that character actually is should have told them the backstory before it boiled over.

Halo is on its way up, 343 have understood the short falls of Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2 was amazing and ties into the next Halo game. There's hope, 343s main problem is that they believe every playing the game is a huge Halo fan who have read every book, but 343 do what they do for the fans, Bungie on the otherhand who used to be my favourite bunch of people, are lost now.

I got destiny 2 for free on psn, and ive already beat the main campaign. Im just a lvl 20 swimming in a pool of lvl 50’s, i was thinking about buying dlc for it, then i found out it was 60 dollars. I might as well buy the new spiderman game

2. The soundtrack
Austin Stout cayde is enough to make the game great

The problem with space can easily be fixed by letting people select what they want to install and what not.

Sun setting and vaulting are certainty controversial but the game and gameplay are generally accepted as being in a very good place by most players. Don't take my word for it. It's consistently in steams top 10 player counts even towards the end of a long season and Sony just recently bought Bungie putting massive resources and manpower behind more Destiny expansions. If you don't like Destiny, that's fine but it just seems like you're hating on pretty hard. Better get used to it because Destiny will be around for years to come.

RhipKord I’m gonna be honest if you have a friend to play with it’s the best way to play. Think of this as a huge expansion to the first game if you can buy the game for 30 buy it it’s very worth it. You will have fun and like the game.

Can you imagine if a new player play Destiny 2 for the first time without playing Destiny 1 and ask who is rasputin and you're telling him/her "you ignorent fool, go buy the first game and pay for the DLCs and then you will know". There answers would be "Yeah, no, fuck that and fuck you".

Rasputin was in the first couple of missions in Destiny. YOu don't have to play the DLC's to know who he is. The reference was actually to the strike Dust Place which was in the first game as well. Joe was just being ignorant as always.

Not in a ground breaking way though. Look at Battlefront and Battlefront 2. They've finally added SPACE COMBAT, where is the space combat is Destiny 2? They've had 3 whole years of development time to add it in but they haven't. As Joe said, it's Destiny 1.5 or "destiny all over again".

Ikr, a huge reason for that I'd say, is the lack of npcs out in the environments. Every npc in Destiny is a vendor and nothing else. There are no stranded survivors to rescue, no armed militia groups you can join in firefights. It's just you and a shit ton of enemies. And vendors handing out rewards.

I played this for 2 months. This past week it dawned on me that I was getting the same exact loot over, and over, and over again. So, I sold it, and use that money to buy a different game. 1.When the original game came out I got a steal $20 bucks (from gamestop they had a deal trade games to save money. Too many great games were traded in) and I regret it what bland, boring, game destiny is.
2. No matter how many times the fanboys tell me to: Read the lore, on the wiki, watch a video loser.

3. just look at cod, Tony hawk, guitar hero, skylanders series how many games do they have and they just plan out destroyed each of them Skylanders had a decent start and was made for kids but it turn into a yearly game series, Tony Hawk glade Activision lost the Tony Hawk game rights. Cod we already now it Activision favorite cash cow and how each game just trys to outdo the other one heck even Michael Bay would laugh of at them. Guitar hero was good dumb fun but it was licenses music that killed that franchise.

I am so glade I left destiny after taken king I could not take it anymore how Activision just treat there studios like crap and how the studio just have deal with just making ONE FUCKING GAME ALL THE TIME. Infinity Ward,Treyarch, Sledgehammer, Bungie Deserves much better they prove that they talent but there talent is wasted by the devil of gaming. It’s a completely lackluster mediocre looter shooter and the loot isn’t even all that good. Borderlands does loot better than Destiny can or ever will. Compare a Legendary in Borderlands and an “Exotic” in Destiny based on power alone, and there really is no comparison. I wanna play Destiny 2 because it would be great with friends, but nothing about the game itself aside from maybe exploring the planets, excites me in any way.

Kathka The Shaders that you can pay for can be found in the game, you just have to be willing to play for them. I got quite a few really awesome shaders doing the Nightfall and Raid's. It's nowhere near as bad as pay to win transactions though.
I don't think that the unnecessary DLC and the microtransactions were Bungie's idea. I'm gonna blame it on Activision. Bungie have proven that they can create great games. But signing up with Activision was the worst possible move they could have made.

I'd like to see his review of the game now. I just started the game and only found out now that they removed the 3 base game campaigns so after about 1-2 hours, all there is is grinding now. The combat and the world is great but without a reason to do so, there is nothing else for me to do but grind, which isn't fun for me. Hopefully, they add them back in because I'd gladly return to actually sink my teeth into something.
yeah they removed half the base game planets entirely, it may be a free game but you basically need to buy the DLCs if you wanna have fun. They made warmind and dlc with osiris free but then they added 3 more

Yeah, that is the problem destiny 2 is always going to have without a base story. Destiny 2 requires too much money to actually enjoy the game. I think they need to give the game a base story desperately, because new players have nothing to do without dropping around like $80-$100 on DLC content that you still have to find people to experience it with.

I love destiny but no new races, no spaceship battles, they fucked up shaders, and I thought there was gonna be a struggle through the whole game without your light BUT NOTHING
His whining whenever a developer doesn't suck his massive hard-on for space battles has become really grating to me and he needs to grow up. He has yet to demonstrate any kind of capacity for discerning when that mechanic fits in a game and when it doesn't. It isn't hard to figure out why the space battle mechanic isn't in Destiny.... The game world makes it abundantly clear.

Someone on the Internet As a huge fan of Destiny, I completely agree. All through D1, I didn't ever really get bored. I played all the way up until D2 release and was so excited for "all the big changes". Well, there's not really a whole lot that grabbed me. I know there ARE changes, but nothing that awed me. And I've been accused of being a "fanboy" in the past, but things like the shaders, emblems taking vault space, lack of abandoned quest kiosks, etc., left me pretty bummed. I still really enjoy the game and have played everyday since launch, I'm starting to get a feeling I never got in D1...boredom. And then Tess is back in full force & this time they're really pushing the micros with the whole shader issue. I had some issues with D1, but I fear the longer I play 2, the more issues I'll probably find. I hope I'm wrong. I bought the damn thing with the season pass, like a jackass, so I'm hoping my spirits will start to rise again as those are released. Sorry for the novel. **P.S. For those of you that are loving the game, I'm super happy for you, honestly. For those of you who have issues with it or even hate it, I feel where you're coming from. I'm neither "fanboying" nor "hating", just expressing my views. My doctor says I can't have anymore salt in my life. Thanks!
I just watched this in 2021, so I'm a little late.This is such great review. I started playing Destiny 2 back in March. I was bored, and I decided to look for another FPS. This was after having played Warframe since March 2020. I thought it was cool at first. I like that you can can choose from and customize three different Guardians. I have a human man Titan, and a exo man Hunter. The missions seem to go on and on. The fallen and vex come at my character sometime in hordes, and sometimes only a few. I think the graphics, cinematics and music are great.
I wish the gameplay was better.

There is no grimoire in the game because Bungie themselves have no idea what to do with their 'story'. They can tear off bits and pieces of lore easily to justify DLC when the lore is not written down in-game. They just need to give players random excuses to shoot various things in each DLC. Live service garbage.
I say mainly the guns and the class abilities are what I like the most. The missions felt like a chore doing them on all three characters.
