It looks identical to this one, identical layout with the knobs and 5 way switch (without checking it, I already know it's that ibanez 5 way switch they put on ALL their guitars with double humbuckers lmao). I still have that guitar, plays perfectly, never gave me a reason to change it for anything else. And it was like 500 bucks at the time. Now this RGMS8 seems to be the exact same deal but with 8 strings and multiscale, it's also cheap as hell and I already know you're gonna be playing that thing for the next decade at least. Ibanez just knows how to make no-nonsense budget guitars.
They really do, I also have some pretty expensive Ibanez guitars and although the build quality is higher the main difference is just more expensive components, the reliability/playability is basically the same on the cheaper models in my experience so far, love them all.

Obviously it's subjective when it comes to what works in a guitar but I can't imagine there's a better 8 string in this price range, although to be fair it's the only one I've spent any time with. The multi scale thing took a little bit of getting used to at the extreme ends of the slant but I honestly don't notice it anymore. All in all I think it's an excellent guitar for the price.
Thank you. I've found the pickups to be pretty decent actually, though I've only used it with Neural plugins as I don't own a real amp. Takes a little bit more work than a 6 string to get a tone that works but I think that's more because of the low tuning rather than the pickups.
