It would be a bit unfair for actual genuine internet problems. But honestly i think i think its necessary to have some sort of penalty to stop the plugging issue.
That doesn’t always even work in MK. Ppl used to duck all the time in mk11 and you’d get no points at all. I do agree that’s how it should be though. You lose, whether you had bad connection or ragequit, you should lose points. The other player should gain points
@@Bigbodybigbeefybodycan’t use that as an excuse. You shouldn’t be disconnecting that often. Ppl plug way too often. I’d be fine losing the points for a disconnection if it means it deters others from ragequitting
if they plug in tekken 8 do this: main menu > community > players you’ve played with > report and then block them. eventually you will block most of the pluggers in your region and have a much better online experience. (i have like 30+ pluggers blocked and i rarely fight pluggers now)
No, blocking players just means you won't recieve messages from them or have them send friend requests. You will still play against them, you just don't run into them because there are a lot of players.
@@bouanan nah have you tried this? coz i’m really good with names (especially names i have to look up just to block) and i have never ran into these mfs in ranked ever agen. 🤷🏽♂️
The funniest thing about it is that everyone has a 0.0% connection rate. I have yet to run in to anyone with a percentage higher than that, which is weird considering how often people rage quit. In a 3 hour session about 1-2 rage quits is expected.
I've been mystified by this too. So it's either I've been unlucky and just so happen to fight people who plug for the first time ever, or the disconnect rate means approximately fuck all once you have enough non-plug matches under your belt. And I think we know which one is more likely.
Actually true. Just two matches ago, I destroyed a King, comboed him to a wall for Oki and what did he do? Just frame plug. 0,0% disconnection rate too. Something about that is either very bugged or straight up doesn't function.
I laughed at that one Fergus video where a Lars player uses the rage art in order to buy time to plug, Not only are pluggers more frequent now but they're more creative than ever when it comes to cheating, it's almost hilarious.
It's wild how often people refuse the rematch. The only times I ever refuse a rematch is if the connection was bad or if I have something urgent to get to, then I go online and every 3rd player just wants to 1 and done you.
Its a general option, if you play ranked to have fun while winning you dont want to face off against someone way better, if i face someone that is WAY WAY better there is no oppertunity for me to even learn, if i notice that i give the free win by not even trying. I want to learn the game but its already overwhelming as a newcomer, i can't handle someone that is a lot better. Not rematching is fine, but disconnecting during a match defenitly is not though
Yall literally cry about anything if someone doesn’t wanna rematch who cares? Like why is that a big deal lmao yall get emotional about the dumbest things
@remon.d8341 You learn strings regardless. If you are getting destroyed, get destroyed, see what they are doing, soak that up move on and use it later. It sucks, but this game has a steep learning curve
Why is it called a rage quit when the only ones raging are the people who get plugged on? I'd be the one laughing if i plugged on a guy with like 20-50 win streak and the cherry on top of the cake is i'm plugging and not getting punished for it LOL
@pRick7734 let's be real. Most people unplug not because they're looking to get a laugh, but because they can't handle losing and not being good enough at the game. Lol That's why it's called "Quitting". It aint Rage Laugh...
I have a 60% win rate with Reina, and I'm at destroyer rank, and it started getting a little bit difficult, and for some reason, I enjoy it even more now. I don't understand why people play a fighting game where you clearly need to play a lot and lose a lot to become good but get frustrated when it actually happens, like that's your oppurtunity to learn
This why I play casual most days I find myself thinking more about my rank and not wanting the re match In casual Ill get wrecked and rematch no question
Personal experience, it's an ego issue. Not wanting to suck at a game I like, but having to face reality is a bitter pill to swallow. Honestly, I envy those who can take all the L's and still be chill.
Yup, the only thing we can do is report and hope for the best. They should make it so that if an opponent disconnects during the match then the game considers it as your opponent surrendering and it gives you the automatic win.
@@angryassyrian5627absolutely not. Thats too much code to write and itll do that to random players who ACTUALLY disconnect UNINTENTIONALLY. So best way to solve this is a disconnection ratio before u press play to be able to tell you they plug.❗️
@@angryassyrian5627 But then you do that and people that really just disconnected due to connection issues get punished. Then again, could be worse. Its not like your getting temp banned.
Also noticed how most players do not rematch a close battle. Between orange and red where I am, I don’t find that many pluggers but dear lord they only wanna rematch when they stomped you.
@@Sammysapphira That's exactly my point. A casual game with broken online has penalties but a heavy a competitive game like tekken doesn't? That makes 0 sense it should be the other way around.
It's a trust system, it's just a shame that many people are crybabies that can't handle their emotions when they lose and hence can't be trusted to not plug.
I really miss the opportunity to death match, sure, people one and done'd in Tekken 7 also, but every 6th or 7th opponent you found someone who was willing to go the lenghth with you. It was the best feeling of playing Tekken and it not being available seriously hurts my enjoyment even if it is a great game overall.
Same. I once fought a Negan who absolutely destroyed me, but accepted a rematch. He kept destroying me and accepting rematches for almost an hour, and even started just testing me with spamming the same move until I countered it, then he would use a different move or combo. Dude spent an hour training me, was such a great experience.
Well said. I feel the same. The long sets in Tekken 7 was one of the best things about Tekken. And that was how you LEARNED Tekken. You fought against the same Character for an hour and you learned so much during those sets
Ive been getting knowldege checked at lower ranks and its no fun, however, learning the matchup and being able to develop counterplay overtime feels amazing. If you get demolished in ranked, see it as an opportunity to learn something new about your opponent's character and dont put so much importance in a virtual point system.
That requires humility. Most people want instant gratification without the work. Most of these pluggers play other games and can't be bothered, probably got to their rank by knowledge checking then plugging when their opponent learns.
Yeah, definitely a mindset sort of thing. I don’t even get heated anymore after turning to a learning mindset(unless lag cause wth, how am i supposed to learn with lag). If i get curb stomped so what? Ill just check my replays and see what I did wrong, what I could have done, and what i was doing that was good. TMM said something about being happy with what you were able to do even if you lose. “Oh you’re throwing a lot of lows? Here’s a low parry” boom instantly satisfying. It’s really about the small things as a new player. Currently stuck in Warrior rank and I see no problem with staying there as of right now, hell some warrior ranks and lower have better fundamentals than some red rank vanquishers who got their rank by spamming a certain string, or abusing something people don’t know is punishable.
I am not really mad when somebody doesn’t wanna rematch me, I can live with that. But the plugging is absolutely disgusting, how is it possible that a competitive game like Tekken doesn’t have any penalty against pluggers? It’s a huge oversight tbh! I hope this will get resolved soon. I also hope that they do something about the FPS requirements in ranked, it’s simply not enjoyable if you play against someone who can’t achieve a steady 60fps during the match. Thanks for bringing awareness to this matter Mainman! But don’t get caught up in the negativity, the game is still fun and I am sure there will be changes!
The plugging issue has infested orange and red and it makes it nearly impossible to rank up due to the not getting points for the opponent plugging it’s awesome
People play to win and not to compete, its the folly of all competive games. As you said, you just need to be hyped about learning new shit on how to deal with the match up.
Of course, so why don't they make ranked a competition for ranking points rather than just some match that has no type of integrity. If you want to win, you can still win in a casual match and leave at your leisure.
Apart from handing out losses to pluggers and a win to their opponents, which is the obvious thing to do, they should implement a pluggers queue where they match up against each other until they win 10 games or smth
I'm playing at LATAM, and curiously enough, here people do not plug or dodge as constantly. I remember getting plugged like twice in my 40 hour journey in ranked, and almost every opponent rematch, winning or losing. I hope this becomes less of a problem in other regions with time, and hope the devs take notice of it, we been crying for some sort of punishment for pluggers since 7 and still got nothin
There are hackers in Tekken 8 we should be more worried about them than people who quit their games , auto blockers , insta kill at beginning of the round, healing health over time etc. they need to ban them.
This is honestly the only reason i plug… believe it or not there’s a lot of lag switchers in this game as soon as i launch or punish them my game just freezes I definitely plug idc
It’s actually hilarious how obvious it is match will be perfect no issues they combo me no problem but once I land a launcher game drops to 10 fps once I drop the combo back to normal 😂
TMM, I play Star Citizen and the devs addressed this exact issue. What they did is, when in ship combat, people would plug so not to lose their ship or rob you of a victory. The devs patched it so that when you plug, your ship would REAMIN in world for 30 seconds (or more I believe) allowing the other player to finish you off and get the credit. You would also get a warning if you try to plug or quit game during combat. I'm sure the T8 dev team can do something similar to this. Or make it where plugging grants you an instant loss and the opponent an isn't win.
I’m new to tekken only played 11 hours of seven and most of that was offline in practice mode. I have about 100 hours of 8 and got Yoshi to shinryu. I love learning the game and when I have close matches that’s the best feeling ever. Not getting bodied or bodying the other person, but a true back and forth battle of mind games. It’s so much damn fun these people are missing the point here
Thank you for making this video TMM, yesterday i got like 7 rage quiters in row and luckily i got promoted to Kishin with Leo, Bandai Namco seriously need to do something about this its getting out of hand fr
True dude, absolutely right. Two days ago i played your Yoshi with my kazuya and even its very demanding playing against yoshi i rematched because i need to learn better the matchup. Its a shame the majority of players dont do this anymore
facts i had a feng player plug on me today i only had to beat him twice to get promoted to Fujin but he plugged during round 2. eventually i managed to get it on another player
This is one of the bigger issues when competitive games like Tekken or SF get super popular with people outside of the usual community. Sure the game's success is great and it strengthens the game moving forward so it wont die in 1-2 years like some other fighting game series I won't mention however it also invites a bunch of people who are new to this scene and aren't used to losing, rather they cannot accept the very concept of it because it feels bad. A lot of the newer players just seem to be mentally weak and treat losing as some boogeyman which shouldn't be a surprise as with fighting games when you get your ass torn there's no one to blame but yourself with the usual advice being "just get good." Losing sucks ass it really does but the lack of dignity and disregard for taking your loss with honor is just straight poison for Tekken and I hope the people who do this constantly either drop the game entirely or learn accept a loss and become better for it.
How did you come to the conclusion it had to do with new players? He's talking about his experience in ranked, he's playing in ranks you won't find any new player playing in. Meanwhile, I'm 'new' (Tekken 5 was my last Tekken game) and in the 50 hours I've played, I've only had 1 person rage quitting...
@@DBTHEPLUG Because he explains that while it happened occasionally on Tekken 7 and previous titles with people rageplugging, in Tekken 8 it has become so prevalent that anywhere you look you're guaranteed to find it. The new title where more people than before are playing Tekken and new faces popping up everywhere just happens to be the same game where theres an epidemic of people who quite simply can't accept a loss. Also this occurs in the lower ranks quite often for me if you want to start using anecdotal evidence. Beginner its not that bad but once you start hitting the ranks like warrior and above it becomes a cesspool that needs to be cleared out. And do try not to use that whole "...." crap at the end of your sentences, it makes you look very pretentious like you're just looking for trouble instead of a conversation.
It's a hard pill for some people to swallow, but this is why gatekeeping can be beneficial sometimes. People like that shouldn't be tolerated just because they're new.
This issue arises prominently in competitive gaming communities like those of Tekken or Street Fighter when they gain popularity beyond their traditional player base. While the success of these games is undoubtedly positive, ensuring their longevity and vitality, it also introduces a wave of newcomers unaccustomed to losing gracefully. Unlike some other fighting game series that shall remain unnamed, which may fade quickly, these games thrive and draw in fresh faces. However, many of these newcomers struggle to cope with defeat, viewing it as a personal failure rather than a natural part of the learning process. The inability to handle losses gracefully is a common trait among these newer players, often attributed to a lack of mental resilience. In the competitive world of fighting games, there's no scapegoat to blame when you're defeated; it's a direct confrontation with your own skills. While losing is undoubtedly frustrating, the lack of sportsmanship and refusal to acknowledge defeat with grace can be toxic to the community. It's my hope that those who exhibit this behavior either reconsider their approach to the game or depart from it entirely, recognizing that accepting defeat gracefully is a crucial step towards improvement and contributing positively to the community.
I cant believe we're at a point where there's more quitters than actual players willing to JUST PLAY the game. That's actually baffling to me, and it just further pushes the idea that we're at such a soft society that people can't handle a simple loss in a video game. This is just absurd. Also to add I can't understand how the devs miss again on these problems, since this has been a thing since T7.
I appreciate the logical approach you take, offering some supportive words to those who maybe have lost their way and aren’t having fun. With that said, I feel a lot of people are missing the competitive spirit part of their “soul” and only care about accolades. People who use cheats/wall hacks and people who pay for boosting or for high level accounts are in the same class of gamer and I feel they couldn’t give a shit less whether or not it was earned.
I’ll always rematch unless I either got stomped so hard I don’t feel like it’s worth it (and I won’t learn anything), or if their connection is basically unplayable and the game turned into a slide show
It's the same issue, since the dawn of online fighting games I think, I never played tekken before Tekken 8, but I did play MKX, Injustice 2, MK11, Mk1. This problem was always present, that people don't come to play they come to win, to get that validation, they leave if they win, because it was too close, they leave when they lose (even once) because their BS flowcharts didn't work this time and their fragile ego doesn't allow them to keep playing just for fun and learning... Some people treat videogames like a job or something, where they just HAVE to excel, and there are so many compilations where people just literally sent themselves into full mental breakdowns because they couldn't body Malenia on their 10th try... I wonder though, how do you know for sure if someone has plugged or just connection actually broke or something? Because honestly, I wouldn't mind reporting a plugger, but I just don't want to report a wrong person...
I'm a garyu Claudio main, I'm bad at this game. this is my first Tekken ever and I get frustrated really easily. but I would never ever in my life quit mid game or a best of 3, I feel like I can't, it's not in my DNA. there is a saying in my country that goes like "beat the rusted nail (with a hammer) until it's not rusty anymore" what helps is that I know I'm bad + I know that my opponent is bad. the question is who is worst xd, that helps. and if my opponent is good, I don't get frustrated at all, he deserves the win and I will rematch even if he stomps me ( ITS A LEARNING GAME )
Oh man ! The quick matches baffles me. How in the world do these people allow themselves to plug in a quick match or cancel on you even more a win !!! I honestly do not understand 🙌
Have to take some points from BAMCO here. They waited a while before introducing the microtransactions, which explains the lackluster cosmetic options we currently have. They waited so that the game will be reviewed without them. AND still no solution for pluggers.
For me, it's usually just King. I'll lose the first game in a pretty embarrassing way but by last round of the first game I generally start to tech their throws and properly defend the Jaguar Sprint nonsense. As soon as you show signs of adjusting, they leave. I always stay for the whole set (unless it's super laggy or their lag starts up at very suspicious times). I really feel like I get worse when I stomp on newer players so while I do get a bit tilted, I always rematch the losses because that really is the ONLY way to learn in Tekken. These people are not old enough to play online video games, and some of them might be in their 20s/30s. As for plugging, turn off crossplay immediately. As soon as you start queueing into console red ranks, first of all, they are most likely on outlet network adapters/wiring to a wireless router/switch/repeater and pretending to be wired, and second of all, THEY ALL PLUG. Since switching to only steam, it's been a lot better at higher ranks. SFVI has the perfect system. They don't care if you plug or disconnect legitimately, the game gives you a yellow card symbol. When you have a yellow card, you can only queue into other yellow cards. If you wait a day or play 10 games with no issues, it's removed. If you get more disconnects/plugs while you have a yellow card, you get a red card which still lets you play but only vs other red cards. I think red cards are a hardlocked timer and can't be removed before a certain time has passed. (Multiple days but I'm not sure) This system is literally perfect because if you unfortunately disconnect legitimately, you have a path to get out quickly but if you want to be a child and plug, it forces you to play with the other like-minded retards. Honestly though, if you are legitimately disconnecting frequently, you shouldn't be playing online games.
This is called Tekken Church; I love the sermon that you preached on plugging. So when it comes to plugging you have to really evaluate yourself as a person and ask , 'if im this way for a game how am I in just my everyday life?' Probably not someone anyone cares to be around, especially when it comes to anything competitive. When you lose just stop yourself for a second and say, 'ok this is really not a loss, I'm learning, what mistakes did I make?' And then learn from it, don't make the mistakes again, and consider it a different TYPE of win.
Out of all the fighting games I've played, this definitely seems to be the game with the highest number of disconnects. And it's weird because out of all those games I've played, this one is like the only one that "has" a downside to quitting in that it is supposed to show you how often people disconnect. Too bad it doesn't seem to work since all disconnect rates I've seen are at 0%. Let's hope this can be fixed soon.
You never played Naruto storm games then I bet my kidney no other fighting game in existence has more disconnections than the storm series. Those players will quit on you faster than you can blink😂😂
I was playing my Main Dragunov and fighting against Jun We both won two rounds each, Jun used Her rage art and reduced my health to red I ran at her and used a double forward Triangle rush and won the game But she ragequitted when the "GREAT" was on my screen Causing my entire game to crash and me having to re load the game and lose my points I was not happy
The rage quitting just started to get crazy. I’m stuck in tenryu right now. Purple ranks and higher are no joke lol I haven’t played tekken in years but I’m in the lab and working my way up
What a coincidence! Just played 5 matches and in 3 of them opponent plugged. Even fujins plug, seems like a report system is not working like it should.
Especially Fujins! Had another one ( asuka) plugging while she was a seconds away from dying after getting launched in round 5. These pluggers have no business occupying those ranks...but they do, bc pluggin is free and boosts them.
The sad part about plugging is that it gives me the impression that people come from job just to see a number goes up instead of having fun. Like... When i was i child, no matter if i lost a football match or won it, i had fun. And that was what moticated me to play, because eventually i was gonna head back home
I mean, part of the fun is winning an improving, no? So seeing yourself climbing in those ranks is rewarding, and so it's fun. But I'm with you, ppl are way too sensetive about their rank and losing it.
I met a really "spammy" Hwo back in orange rank and he absolutely destroyed me, but that didn't stop me from playing ranked. I kept playing and got red rank, then I met the same guy again (he was ruler rank) and he destroyed me again, 3-0'd twice. This time however, I went to the replays and actually studied Hwo. Just two days ago, I was in Battle Ruler and I met him again, this time he was Fujin. I lost the set, but I won a match against him and it really made my day. There I thought that watching replays really paid off and I would be (and already been) doing it again.
Its not about SANCTIONING every plugger, its the reason why people are plugging. THE RANKED SYSTEM SUCKS. If the POINTS SYSTEM made sense and wasnt so INCREDIBLY PUNISHING and UNREWARDING then there would be much less reason for people to plug.
+1 for mandatory bo3. also if connection quality becomes unplayable then auto-abort the match. and mandatory hardware check for ranked so everyone gets a smooth experience.
Mandatory best of 3 is a no, no. Would stink whenever you're getting paired with players two or three ranks below and hardly gain any progress after winning. Just a waste of time and energy.
Brother I am not getting locked into a bo3 with some dudes pc cooking itself or their connection “mysteriously” gets spotty in the middle of the game” And if my mom needs my help getting groceries I’m one and donning you whether win or lose
you're right main man, because the battle was roughly interrupted by the plugger, the game doesn't record the replays or even register you played agains the plugger so you can't report/block. Im really tired of these scrubby rage quitters, also upset with bamco to not take action of this toxic behavior properlly. The only thing i can do is to record all the rage quits and public post it. Good video BTW sir! salutes from VENEZUELA
@@JyundrTheDrip i have a XSX so i can record what happened the last 5 min, that's what i've been doing with those fights ending on quits. I have like 12 pluggers recorded from the last 48 hrs
it absolutely mind boggling that this issue wasn't solved in tekken 7 its unforgivable that this isnt solved in tekken 8 its not like there arent plenty of solutions out there
@@Cutthroat__The Points Tied to Winstreak is one reason to cry about. If Namco doesn’t give the plugger any penalty, why am I being Penalised by stripping my Winstreak from me?
I'm not good at Tekken by a long shot. It took me years to build the confidence to even play online. But rematching was always gold in my eyes. I mained Steve in T7 and fought a Lee that was wiping the floor with me. Slowly I was learning, low parry here, side step this or that. It's a great feeling when you learn those match ups and skills to better your game play.
I feel like it's the wave of new players this game has attracted. A lot of them were likely not expecting to have such a hard time, or they're not rematching because they're not familiar with / don't care about fighting game etiquette. I swear it must be those damn first person shooter players 😂
Yeah, new players are definitely good enough to already be at the same rank as TMM. I mean, do you really think the people he's playing against and even losing against are new players?? I'm a new player with 50 hours and just got to the point in ranked where you start losing points.
@@shatteredteethofgod I've been playing MK1, SF6, KOF15, and Strive a bunch, and gotta say, Tekken 8 takes the cake for having the most rage quitters and folks not up for a rematch. Plus, there's a whole bunch of players in Tekken who seem way angrier about losing - they're quick to fire off those angry messages. I've been playing all the major fighting games, and in my book, the Tekken community is by far the worst.
Honestly, I wouldn't even mind if it penalizes you for a genuine dc. If it just takes some points it wouldn't be that bad since it shouldn't happen that often.
@@TheProswagonistthe problem with that is that it is exploitable, people can start to DDoS you instead of rage quitting. And we have had that in the past with games like mortal kombat that try to punish people for plugging and it always turned out to be a bigger problem than plugging itself. As of now you only get denied a win if your opponent disconnects on you, but that's still better than you not getting to play the game, plus being punished because you disconnected, while the other person gets rewarded for being unsportsmanlike. The solution is very simple in theory, just make people be punished for disconnecting, but it requires money to build a good anti-ddos software on your servers, which also requires constant maintenance and more money put into it, hopefully it will be done anyways though which i don't believe.
As a Tekken newbie, I found myself alt+f4 several times when I was too frustrated and didn't want to play anymore. I was sure that in this case I would get L, and my opponent W. Later I found out that my opponent did not get W and this reset the win streak. I don't do that anymore. Some things in Tekken are so weird. Why don't you get L when you exit the game? Why is there no button to leave match? Why do players have to agree to rematches in ranked matches (why not just do ft2)? Why can't you play more games than ft2 with your opponent in casual matches?
I don't plug, but I do get in my own head a lot when I lose. I think that I'm not being a good enough competitor to my friends and I start getting harsh on myself and my skill. I appreciate the discussion, even though I wasn't the core target of it TMM.
Tekken 8 problem is the heat system. Your in lock down for to long . It's like stand there and take the mix up. New player don't know what to do in situations against certain Characters
What do you guys think could be a solution? What if it kept track of your DC's, and if you only get DC's near the end of matches it penalizes you in terms of points. Or if it banned you from playing online for an hour to 24 hours if you DC multiple times in a day? Anything? I guess those could possibly be exploited still. What if there was a separate game mode where you lock in to 3 sets? That could be for people who actually want to play. What if it actually tracked your DC and quit rate on which round and set, and showed it before entering a set, instead of always showing 0.00%. Anyone have any better ideas?
Disconnect or Polaris error people should loose x3 points like in SF6, their disconnect rate should appear and you get to play with other pluggers until you can match with other people. SF6 has the best solution. I think Tekken decided this since they don't want to loose casual players.
I got destroyed by someone then i rematched like a chad to make me feel that loosing is no big of a deal. Then he proceed to taunt me , ki charging me. It broke my soul. That’s the type thing that make people not ever rematching when they get stomp
I don't even know how they let this be an issue since it isn't one in any other game out there since the leaver loses and the winner wins and that's just how it should work and for some reason they can't figure it out with their huge budget and teams especially with how well the game sold so far there is no excuse besides being lazy.
Ranked is bugged, you lose more point when facing a higher ranked players than lower, whereas u gain/lose next to no points facing lower ranks. Essentially you can win 6 matches in a row then lose all those points dropping 1 set to a player 3 ranks higher. To make it worse u probably been plugged on a few times urself, spammed, knowledge checked & denied rematches so it becomes a if u can’t beat em join them mentality until Bandai fixes the issue
I stopped playing ranked 10 days ago 💀 the number of sales in my area low I have to sit for 20mins to find a single match and whenever I do, it's a rage quitter
I miss Tekken 7 infinite rematch; loved getting stomped on by really good player and going what felt like an infinite rematch streak just to learn. Would always feel a mutual respect when they'd keep accepting again and again, though I'd be getting beat, and same the other way, when someone loses by a long shot, giving rematches and slowly seeing them come up in skill in that one session. Pluggers I feel like there are such easy solutions to discourage this that I can't believe Tekken 8 isn't resolving them yet
I havent met a plugger yet. But every 5 bar ethernet user on loading screen turns into a 1 bar powerpoint presentation. I literally have to spam against the new Reina players i hate it. If i shut my brain off. I win. If i dont. i get pressered. I win and it feels horrible.
Im not dipping in connection with players but for me personally its the whole new heat system that's still taking me awhile to get used to the ehole fckery. Every nee player just spamming heat burst, its basically mini rage arts and it takes a chunk of health, some are even a combo starter like what in the actual fck 💀
Or you win two rounds and then magically the connection starts to 'drop', or it 'drops' suddenly during your combos, or even as blatant as 'drop' during your turn and ONLY your turn, totally normal connection issues right?
Bad connection is definitely a reason for me to not rematch. Or me deciding I've had enough for the day. But as a strategy, in the middle of my session, never... and not even remotely thinking of pluging on a fellow player.
I don't understand why if you don't disconnect you wouldn't get a loss regardless even if you lagged out. It's your responsibility to have a good connection etc. so plugging should be treated like that. I hope they fix this issue.
i honestly wish tekken was shifted in a way that didn't reward just assaulting the opponent, like ive seen some combos and it just gets ridiculous, like its super cool, but i do think its apart of the frustration is in how the game's built, you make one mistake and youre just waiting for half your health bar in the air, and next thing you know you get launched again the second youre allowed to play again so all you can do is have fun watching the pretty hit effects i guess so i definitely understand the anger, still doesn't excuse plugging but there's apart of me that sorta gets it, and wants to do the same sometimes
10:10 "Are you actually having fun right now playing the game?" As someone who use to plug a lot when I first got into Tekken, ill share what my mindset was at the time. The fun didn't come from just playing the game, or even getting better, the fun came from watching the rank number go up and showing off my rank to my friends. That's it. I would bet a lot of people who still plug today have that same mindset. The soliton is so obvious, plugging should result in losing more rank points then just taking the loss. Not sure why this isn't the standard for competitive games.
I think this is more a problem with the game being new AND massively popular. In a few months (maybe a year idk) when only the players who actually like the game are left, it will be less of an issue.
Tekken is a horrible competitive online game. The devs are always one step behind. Just like in T7 where there are only basic online features; it took them until T8 to add a competent lobby, actual rematching that doesn't take 5 minutes, and ways to actually play tournaments. Everything else is still super lackluster that it's honestly crazy. I don't understand how these games haven't learned from other games, fighting game or otherwise. Add basic MMR system (i.e. placement matches and actual algorithms for player skill levels), basic anti-cheat (punishing pluggers, cheaters, boosters), better matchmaking, etc. I mean everyone knew that the instant the game came out that everyone on the top leaderboards were going to be boosters/hackers, which btw have still not gotten punished by the devs after over what is now what a month of reports? Also I heard that the disconnect rate % is cosmetic atm and I'm inclined to agree. This is supposed to be a AAA game and they're adding DLC and microtransactions, yet they can't make a "modern" game even when it comes to basic QoL features. The crappy chibi lobby system I can ignore because it doesn't really matter but everything else has no excuse. Not to mention how mediocre the netcode is, everyone is saying how much better it is than T7 but it's honestly a low bar. The only actually playable connections are wired 4-5 bars, essentially the exact same as T7... As expected as Bamco, just like back in T7, they'd rather focus on making a quick buck and whatever other generic updates like monetizing their cash shops, rather than balance and fixing their games for the long term.
The real issue is how rank is rewarded. The point system in place is inherently toxic and demonizes losing. Instead of what we have now, here is a suggestion: You lost, that's minus 800 points but: The opponent was higher rank (plus 5 points times the rank difference) You broke 70% of throws (plus 70 points) You block punished 40% of possible attacks (plus 40 points) Etc etc until you end up with a total of 100 points lost or maybe even some points won! Reward good play, give it a solid representation, and you give incentive to people to play better, practice more, finish their matches, rematch, have more fun and play more! How is nobody seeing this solution?
100% facts if a person with a lower rank is kicking your ass you get a huge demotion of point but then you beat that same person you barely get any point if they are lower rank than you should be equal and balanced to how the match was won or loss
@@YOURDADSNEPHEW If the game allows you to disconnect while preserving your ranking points that means the game mechanic allows you to do this. Therefore it's not cheating.
You’re probably going to get banned from ranked if you do that, at least if the devs actually implement their supposed solution. Just play casual if you don’t care about rank.
You gotta remember there are all these new players coming from SF and GG and smash where you can plug and nothing happens to ur score. Not to mention the legacy players who think they hate the whole game bc of the heat mechanic, and are perpetually angry bc of that.
I rematch basically everyone. I never had plugger... Till this day, my first win vs Yoshi MightyRuler I already won with RageArt and DC... My god that was annoying... This should be double the loss points.
Honestly this made me so proud to be the guy that always rematches and yea there are some blue ranks that knowledge check me to death but when I hit rematch it’s because I love *playing* tekken, and that means blocking and learning how to counter your opponent’s pressure. They even give you your last 100 rematches for free with tips. Huge opportunity for me to get good at tekken and I hope to get to tekken king one day, GL to all us chads mashing rematch, and thank you for the recognition MainMan
I have been plugged on in a promotion match twice now. If I catch any of my homies plugging, I will make it my mission to ensure that they fully understand the weight of their sins in full.
People haven't played any real games since the old days. People are used to games where "everyone" wins. In tekken it's lame because people want to have a high rank but dont want to lose. Want to keep their Win ratio high and loss ratio low. It's whack. Game should detect who is still connected to server 10 secs after will obtain the win and after 8 disconnects the dodger will reset rank. Can gain 1 more chance after completing every 10 matches in a row. Back to a maximum of 8 dodges. Or just the classic lockout of rank for 30 min.
I'm actually taking a break from ranked play till this is solved, I hit red ranks and I refuse to dip in any more cause there are just way way waaaay too many quitters.
Hey I'm new to tekken, just got the game like 10 days ago and last one I played was Tekken 3 I think. I've played many competitive games online, thousand of hours in many both team and 1v1stuff, in some I was a scrub, in others ranking in top 0.1%. I play ranked in tekken mostly, win or lose, doesn't matter as long as I get to play the game and I think this is where part of the issue lies. Ive been reading that they made many combos/ strong moves/ strings much much easier to execute, some legit take 1 button to do yet it takes much more knowledge, labbing, timing and exectution to counter them on average. If its that piss easy to do, it should be piss easy to counter. It is really rage inducing, often feels like you get to do 2 moves during a match just to get outplayed twice and juggled for 30 seconds. That's another thing to add to frustration, there is no combo break, you do one oopsie and can take hands of controller for 15 seconds cos no input does anything till you full land on ground. As you mentioned, comes down to being miserable and helpless. Not sure if it was like that in previous games but the build in ''smurf'' functionality is just extra salt on the wound. Guys with main character in high ranks, 150k tekken prowess jumps on new character and get matched with newbies like me in warrior rank. Sometimes I feel like leaving those matches aswell honestly, not much to learn when I die in 2 combos and get to press 3 buttons throught the match. Once again boils down to not getting to play the game. I had guys quit on me too, felt like I had reads on them and they didn't get to play the game at all. Honestly wasn't that fun either? Not much ''fighting'' in ''fighting game'' when its just one guy doing the whooping. But yeah just my take as a new guy. On a more positive for tekken note, the game is fresh and there are dozens of those sad, miserable AAA bros that jump on every new game for 2 weeks than quit it and doom while waiting for next ''big thing'' to relase. You know those, I'm sure some of your friends are ones of them, constantly in doom till new big game drops and they get a kick for a week till they get bored, drop the game and cycle repeats. I assume most of rage quitters are those guys, once they are gone dooming for new pal world, the game will settle a bit.
I wholeheartedly agree with the entire sentiment in the video. It's people like you that encourage positive gaming and growth that bring this community up! It's awesome when i watch your streams and you genuinely compliment your opponent for a great move or punish. That's exactly the sportsmanship we all need.
The only time I don't rematch is if there were visible connection or hardware drops mid match multiple times that affected my ability to play the game to my fullest potential. I have a 74% ranked win rate right now at Fujin and actually find MORE people don't rematch on a close match than a no round brown. Like you said, I 100% think it's that those players realize they couldn't beat me in a rematch. It's a bummer but I don't get annoyed anymore. They're the ones missing out
It's good to see you say that people should look at learning the game from a long journey perspective but most people won't do it because of various reasons but i can say two for now. 1. Fans of the game/series will keep this game alive if they been with the series since day one and will always have a good time. 2. People, especially those who are a bit older or have families with kids, have a bit of a tough time when it comes to playing the game since they don't have much time to learn when they have other things that take priority like work or school. Aside from that, we live in a era where Fighting games like Tekken, SF, MK, KOF, etc. are making themselves easy to pick up for newcomers and beginners because companies are catering towards the Casual crowd and even though i don't like some of the stuff that these games add which makes casuals feel like they played the game for a long time, it's still them that are usually the ones who may or may not plug or RQ because they don't want to put in the work or learn thus saying thay they're not having fun with the game and calling it trash. In short, that's my two cents there but keep up the good work TMM 👍
The win streaks thing is such a good point. I was super late to start playing ranked because when the game dropped I was busy being a lab monster and playing local Vs with my bro. So when I finally did get on ranked for the first time I won my first 27 games straight, but my max win-streak stills shows 13 because of freaking pluggers
The Mortal Kombat way of punishing would solve all of these problems, they plug, they lose points, get an L and the opponent automatically wins.
Feel like this should be common sense smh
street fighter way is even better, the plugger gets two losses.
I’d be fine losing the points for a disconnection if it means it deters others from ragequitting
if they plug in tekken 8 do this:

eventually you will block most of the pluggers in your region and have a much better online experience.

The funniest thing about it is that everyone has a 0.0% connection rate. I have yet to run in to anyone with a percentage higher than that, which is weird considering how often people rage quit. In a 3 hour session about 1-2 rage quits is expected.
True
I've been mystified by this too. So it's either I've been unlucky and just so happen to fight people who plug for the first time ever, or the disconnect rate means approximately fuck all once you have enough non-plug matches under your belt. And I think we know which one is more likely.
Idk if it’s cause I play Lars but out of 10 matches I have, 6 rage quit.
Actually true. Just two matches ago, I destroyed a King, comboed him to a wall for Oki and what did he do? Just frame plug. 0,0% disconnection rate too. Something about that is either very bugged or straight up doesn't function.
I've ran into people with 10+% disconnections
I laughed at that one Fergus video where a Lars player uses the rage art in order to buy time to plug,
Not only are pluggers more frequent now but they're more creative than ever when it comes to cheating, it's almost hilarious.

It's way better than plugging tho, so I don't really mind
Its a general option, if you play ranked to have fun while winning you dont want to face off against someone way better, if i face someone that is WAY WAY better there is no oppertunity for me to even learn, if i notice that i give the free win by not even trying. I want to learn the game but its already overwhelming as a newcomer, i can't handle someone that is a lot better. Not rematching is fine, but disconnecting during a match defenitly is not though

This video was sorely needed. The devs need to take this shit seriously.
Yup, the only thing we can do is report and hope for the best. They should make it so that if an opponent disconnects during the match then the game considers it as your opponent surrendering and it gives you the automatic win.

Good players look for long sets. Garbage players play to win.
Arcade lounge might sort of fill the gap. It’s kinda neat.

Ive been getting knowldege checked at lower ranks and its no fun, however, learning the matchup and being able to develop counterplay overtime feels amazing.
If you get demolished in ranked, see it as an opportunity to learn something new about your opponent's character and dont put so much importance in a virtual point system.
Chad take. Here’s a like
That requires humility.
This mindset is how you improve yourself.
Or you try to learn a new character and king stands there spamming grabs, oh no the noob stomper doesn't get a win how will he manage?

Good post
Some people treat videogames like a job or something, where they just HAVE to excel, and there are so many compilations where people just literally sent themselves into full mental breakdowns because they couldn't body Malenia on their 10th try...

but I would never ever in my life quit mid game or a best of 3, I feel like I can't, it's not in my DNA.
there is a saying in my country that goes like "beat the rusted nail (with a hammer) until it's not rusty anymore"
what helps is that I know I'm bad + I know that my opponent is bad. the question is who is worst xd, that helps.
and if my opponent is good, I don't get frustrated at all, he deserves the win and I will rematch even if he stomps me ( ITS A LEARNING GAME )
Happening a lot even in quick matches. Some people have fragile ego.
So when it comes to plugging you have to really evaluate yourself as a person and ask , 'if im this way for a game how am I in just my everyday life?'
Probably not someone anyone cares to be around, especially when it comes to anything competitive.
You never played Naruto storm games then
I bet my kidney no other fighting game in existence has more disconnections than the storm series. Those players will quit on you faster than you can blink😂😂
@@grandpulse7970LOL those were the real top tier pluggers.
You must realise that for many gaming isn't about being fun. So the "stop being fun" theme doesn't matter.
Yep and also many people still don't understand that this has become the dominant mindset.. For a while now.
I was playing my Main Dragunov and fighting against Jun
We both won two rounds each,
Jun used Her rage art and reduced my health to red
I ran at her and used a double forward Triangle rush and won the game
But she ragequitted when the "GREAT" was on my screen

The rage quitting just started to get crazy. I’m stuck in tenryu right now. Purple ranks and higher are no joke lol I haven’t played tekken in years but I’m in the lab and working my way up
What a coincidence! Just played 5 matches and in 3 of them opponent plugged. Even fujins plug, seems like a report system is not working like it should.
From what I’ve seen the higher ranks plug even more
Especially Fujins!
Had another one ( asuka) plugging while she was a seconds away from dying after getting launched in round 5.
These pluggers have no business occupying those ranks...but they do, bc pluggin is free and boosts them.
If you lose its okay, if you don't play against a good player you will never be better
The only way I've learned tekken is by losing I always rematch unless I can't keep my eyes open cause I'm sleepy
2 things would MASSIVELY improved rank.
1-Mandatory best of 3. No choice.
2-if you plug you lose, if you dont rematch you get an L.
Easy as that.
Brother I am not getting locked into a bo3 with some dudes pc cooking itself or their connection “mysteriously” gets spotty in the middle of the game”
And if my mom needs my help getting groceries I’m one and donning you whether win or lose
1. hell no.
2. yes on the plug, no on the rematch
Agree with the second only
you're right main man, because the battle was roughly interrupted by the plugger, the game doesn't record the replays or even register you played agains the plugger so you can't report/block. Im really tired of these scrubby rage quitters, also upset with bamco to not take action of this toxic behavior properlly. The only thing i can do is to record all the rage quits and public post it.
I've been playing all the major fighting games, and in my book, the Tekken community is by far the worst.
this is the new generation of people(Gen Z). instead of working hard to get better. Run away crying because no one will adapt to you.
Plugging is a problem, but if they implement a penalty then they better know when it’s a plug and when it’s a disconnect because the servers act up.
Honestly, I wouldn't even mind if it penalizes you for a genuine dc. If it just takes some points it wouldn't be that bad since it shouldn't happen that often.
@@TheProswagonistFor real lol
At least they should count dcs as a loss
@@Alexbook99no.
I get the sentiment, I always hit rematch (except when the connection turns out to be unplayably bad).

Easy. If YOU dc. It gives your opponent the win
Disconnect or Polaris error people should loose x3 points like in SF6, their disconnect rate should appear and you get to play with other pluggers until you can match with other people. SF6 has the best solution. I think Tekken decided this since they don't want to loose casual players.

Rage quitting in Tekken Ball is Outrageous 😂

I miss Tekken 7 infinite rematch; loved getting stomped on by really good player and going what felt like an infinite rematch streak just to learn. Would always feel a mutual respect when they'd keep accepting again and again, though I'd be getting beat, and same the other way, when someone loses by a long shot, giving rematches and slowly seeing them come up in skill in that one session.
Pluggers I feel like there are such easy solutions to discourage this that I can't believe Tekken 8 isn't resolving them yet
Easy game calls out a lot of casuals, more casuals mean more salty ppl, more salty ppl means more pluggers
Most new players “why no win?”
Not just new players. Sore losers with an ego and toxic attitude who don't like when people turn the tables on them.

В Теккен 7 как были эти безнаказанные выходы из рангового матча, так в Теккен 8 и остались.
Почему Харада не может ничего сделать с этим?

Yes, victory for Ukraine.
I don't understand why if you don't disconnect you wouldn't get a loss regardless even if you lagged out. It's your responsibility to have a good connection etc. so plugging should be treated like that. I hope they fix this issue.
i honestly wish tekken was shifted in a way that didn't reward just assaulting the opponent, like ive seen some combos and it just gets ridiculous, like its super cool, but i do think its apart of the frustration is in how the game's built, you make one mistake and youre just waiting for half your health bar in the air, and next thing you know you get launched again the second youre allowed to play again so all you can do is have fun watching the pretty hit effects i guess
so i definitely understand the anger, still doesn't excuse plugging but there's apart of me that sorta gets it, and wants to do the same sometimes
10:10 "Are you actually having fun right now playing the game?"
As someone who use to plug a lot when I first got into Tekken, ill share what my mindset was at the time.
Instead of what we have now, here is a suggestion:
You lost, that's minus 800 points but:
The opponent was higher rank (plus 5 points times the rank difference)
You broke 70% of throws (plus 70 points)
You block punished 40% of possible attacks (plus 40 points)
Etc etc until you end up with a total of 100 points lost or maybe even some points won!
What is wrong with rage quitting ? When I lose I do it all the time to prevent losing my ranking points.
I do this daily and it helps me stay high rank!!😂😂 And 2k
@@YOURDADSNEPHEW If the game allows you to disconnect while preserving your ranking points that means the game mechanic allows you to do this. Therefore it's not cheating.

People are really sad when it comes to their ego. Sadly the state of society overall makes it only worse overtime, henche we ended up here.
Facts bro when you go beyond red ranks there are wayyy to many rage quitters 🤣
I plug Victors, whether I win or lose I ain’t rematching that cheese ball
