People talking about ranks (in TMM's chat) seem to forget that back in Tekken 7 season 1, majority of the players were stuck in green, yellow and early orange ranks. Getting to Genbu back then was very challenging so imagine hitting Mighty Ruler at that time. This game hasn't even been out for a month so you can still expect a lot of strong players slowly doing rank matches in yellow, orange and red. That said, red ranks in T8 is kind of the border between intermediate and higher levels of play depending on the region you play.
@jellypunk1495 bro A King was so well rounded Its hard to pick another up. He had every tool imo. Wasn't the best at anything but had a tool for every situation. I could win on pokes alone. Kinda want to pick up Drag but he's too op lol
@jellypunk1495 bet. I was Emperor Jin in T7 but boy oh boy the ruler ranks rn is like fighting at EVO for some reason haha. Playing Reina on the side gives me less stress haha
Most of his stuff has strong counterplay, low level players just don't know it or are garbage at it. He's risking getting stepped and launch punished for basically everything he does. Everything that isn't plus is heavily minus. He's high risk high reward. Low level players just never step him and can't punish for jack so he just runs them over and they cry about it rather than labbing the counterplay.
@@bilbobaggins7075 I think Dragunov is the most fun character in T8 but he's not the only character I play nor is he the one I think is the strongest. I also play DJ, Feng, and Bryan, my sparring partner plays Jin and some others. I've also extensively labbed characters I think are very strong like Jun, Claudio, etc. I think every other character I listed will be stronger than Drag as the game develops more. My top 5 would be Jin, Feng, Jun, Claudio, and either Azucena or Bryan. Drag I would put possibly top 10. I think he's very fun and high risk high reward, but that's not a strategy that works consistently at higher level, and as the risk become greater and greater as people get better at using T8s heavily buffed movement, characters like Drag who are balanced around being launchable if their key moves get stepped will fall off at least a little. I don't think he's bad by any means but I think he will fall to lower top 10 top 15 level. People are just still playing T7 with heat (which is totally reasonable after a decade of T7) and not realizing how strong movement is, and subsequently how strong and explicitly necessary good homing will then be to shut down the stronger movement in T8.
Cool trick I learned about Dragunov the other day - D2, standing 4, to qrtr circle back 2. You can also do it with 4,1 punish, then qrtr cricle back 2. Also - 1 jab, df 1, then parry is a new trick that has been working well for me. Here i am after maining Drag for five years, watching the same shit goin full cyrcle again. The QCF 4 is just cheese because unlike with Kazuyas tech trap there is nothing you are afraid of against Drag here in terms of mix so you just block it every time, and if he's willing to burn the rest of his heat to get a mix than yeah fair enough he used all of his heat for that just for a risky mix so power to him.
If I remember correctly B4,2 tech does not work at the wall because you get +2 instead of +4(?), but you can get a guaranteed QCF4 attempt if you do a wall combo like 3,1,4, if they stay on the ground it hits, if they techroll it well then you get 5+ chip damage ob, if you are in heat you can dash out of it, and good news you can also do DB3+4, it's tracks both sides, you get huge amount of plus frame, it's a CH knockdown and it hits grounded, so it's a very strong 50-50 imo.

Drag is high risk high reward. He needs to have high damage to make up for the risks he has to take to do anything. Basically all of his moves that give him plus frames are launch punishable on whiff which is easy to do because you just step him. Any of his attacks that aren't plus are very minus and very punishable. He's early meta scrub killer. If you can't break throws, can't step, and can't punish for jack, then yeah he runs you over. D2 nerfed, when there are characters who have monstrous lows (Feng is listening), f1+2 is useless, qcf3 has a decent counter result, it has a 50/50 on snk which as long as it equals the maximum you take damage from a ridiculous low or the chip damage from a medium (nerfed), he has several highs who also know stones, his game is practically centered on the fact that if he goes onhit or onblock he goes in plus frames and everything else you have to put there yourself . In t8 they finally add 3 moves that finally make it dynamic and no longer boring, here comes a thousand videos about Drag which is broken. Nobody, and I mean, nobody to complain about Feng busting his ass at tournaments, his stressful escapes, his OP sabaki and parry and senseless bass, but ok, the problem is Dragunov.
They both OP lul... But I do agree that the probably shouldn't give a heavy nerf to dragunov as much as I hate playing against him... Probably minor frame tweaks at best...
He's probably perceived as being more op now since movement sucks...
Damage/Oki nerf = unplayable sh*t dead character
No
Lol. Drag is not honest
I want them to make a mod that purely just makes his eyes like a lizard in terms of like crosseyedness
Man this is the only fighting game I want to get good at and I suck with dragunov. Watching you gives me so much stuff to learn AND I LOVE THAT!! I don't have tekken 8 yet. I can't wait to get good tih him on m&k to get at least somewhat good. CAUSE DUDE DO I LOVE IT, LOVE THE VIDS AND KEEP IT UP!!
Ah yes, according to TMM, Dragunov and others are always OP. but anything Kazuya related will always be perceived as underpowered
Any character that is tricky he attacks and belittles..And says nobody knows the MU..If a character doesn't have EWGF he will crap on character..
What needs to be nerfed imo is the DB1,2 oki pick up after devil hs at the wall, other than that I don't see what's your problem with Kazuya tbh.
Lol kaz gets dog walked by drag ,a kaz will be on defense facing a drag
@@SGHNTZ you’re missing the point. I dont hate TMM (obviously). But he has this way of bitching about certain characters being more broken than they really are. When law finally got a viable rage drive in T7 version 5.0 with a 22f rage drive through DSS, he was bitching for 20 minutes about how broken it’s going to be whereas in reality it was fine when used at pro level. You can still find this video on his channel.
Kaz has abysmal reach compared to Drag's + frames every single move gtfo
HE TURNS OFF MATCHMAKING IN INTRO!! I'm so proud rn. Pog mainman.
Yeah it is still in 12 hits and king do that damage with 4 hits + grab so king is basicly broken
TMM shit starts again. Cries until every character is nerfed except kazuya
I love the way Dragunov plays in this game, just the way his moves flow together and his mixups aren't too strong, but they're fast. So he's got the reaction test and mind games. PLEASE no nerf, tekken.
i mean if u want to see a tekken tournament with almost all use dragunov then dont nerf him lol
@@wr31rf He already has clear weaknesses to utilize, like side stepping. So nerfing him any more than he is would just make everyone drop him.
@@nerotheweirdo4755Side stepping isn't even good to counter his moves. I guarantee all these Drag mains are gonna drop him once his moves are slower just like they dropped Leroy. They just want easy top tier
@@funnyvalentine6670 No, VICTOR players want easy top tier, Dragunov players want their tekken 7 mains to finally be good.
honestly i wouldnt be mad if they nerfed him, i dont think he'll ever be as bad as t5 or t7 with how well his moves flow together.
Best Yoshi in Ireland dies to 2 grabs and 2 strings. Absolutely busted
I need a bath after that 2nd Yoshi match
Really nice hopkick call out
Please no more I wanna learn him more
Edit: 2:36 wtf is that damage? Never mind
Bro I swear dragunovs will just throw shit out just to see if it hits, while having no idea if they're at frame advantage or not.
nah man it’s all plus lol that’s why they throw it out the running 2 you’ll see it all the time
Yeah bro, but what meant is that they'll throw shit out whilst being frame trapped cause their characters so strong that they can't be conditioned to respect you because the risk/reward factor is always in his favour.
@@zzzzzdagod8973Meanwhile steve has 1 viable Plus frame move outside of heat. Tekken unfair sometimes.
@@zzzzzdagod8973 only plus is wr2 and b1+2, the rest is either 0, +1 or just -
You haven't seen my friend playing King and contesting every single hit with hop kick or anything. Dragunov isn't really busted or I just suck at this game.
My boo already getting nerfed and I ain’t even play the game yet
They are so many characters that need to be tuned down, I hope they dont keep hammering just dragunov
What is that combo u are doing in the start of the video? Can I get the inputs plz
Goddamnit im just starting tekken altogether and learning dragonov and im ALREADY dealing with this.
just started picking him up and getting use to him not having a traditional launcher is taking some time to get use to as well as people poking me out of his running 2
i'm actually tenryu with Raven but i'm getting smack'd alot recently, all of a sudden i'm starting to win like..40% of matches i play, either i'm suddenly bad or people learnt the matchup, or..both things
What is this new mechanic where they get launched into air on wall splat with fire/lava coming out of the ground effect?
just a floor break but it doesn't break and just does the bound effect, like the underground arena walls
Is the back4+1+2 guaranteed off the up-forward1+2? For drag
Drag is balance for me it’s his damage that’s so broken in this game
Right now I think Dragunov has the best combo damage in the game, +80 to +90 damage from most launchers/chs without rage, walls and heat, + strong oki combo ender.
Can you maybe do a 8 minute Jun guide? I want to learn her so bad
12:42 cj scream
Yeah that throw of Drag is definitely busted. 😂
Letting you know Drag can parry capital punishment, the move is very easy to see and is predictable
TMM playing chess while others are playing checkers
Tbh I'd rather have them buff other characters than nerf Drag. I mean yeah he's really strong but he also has some weaknesses
I Main Dragunov. I agree his damage needs to chilled out but literally the first patch they rendered his newest move useless. Everyone hoping he is nerfed to the ground will be the same people complaining that he’s unusable by season 3 LMAO (T7 all over again)
They did not make sneak 4 useless lmao
@@callanharvey6264 it’s mainly a pressure tool for wall combos now. Outside that you reset to neutral on hit. Which completely negates the pressure you created before
@@sonofposeidon317you can still threaten fc df1,4 on block. It connects even with the pushback, and tracks. Doesn't beat a backdash though.
@@redrum1096 It's steppable, and launch punishable if you do (like most things Drag does), and can be backdashed, and he has no mid to threaten to even force a mixup there. New move is super niche now barely used if the opponent knows they can step and launch it.
If you know you can step and launch everything and you actually land your combos, you don't get cheesed by throws and dumb cheese strings (which basically everyone in Tekken has) then he's a very honest high risk high reward character.
You nerf his damage then there is no reason to play him competitively.... again. He's going to fall off anyway as players get better at the game, people are just crying about him now because they don't want to learn and get better.
Finally mainman made a video about Dragunov so we can confirm the nerfs.
the first combo you made, where can i find it in the combo list?
Bro my guy dragunov had too be ass for 7 years LET THIS MAN BE LET THE COMRADES RISE UP. I have waited a damn decade for my guy too actually be good y'all got the nerf you wanted go away now
Damage/Oki nerf = unplayable sh*t dead character
No
@@SGHNTZhighest execution combo 65 damage = unplayable shit dead character
“How am I even losing to this?” Tekken 8 in a nutshell.
Super turtles, lots of throws, and insane damage from natural combos.
Like to see you play Leroy and share your thoughts on him
Quick question, i have 41 hours in tekken 8 now, the only other fighting game i have played was MK 11 for 28 hours. I reached garyu after like 34ish hours. Is that good? (Reina main)
Yeah
I’d say it’s impressive, but there’s a sea of players doing better or worse than one another. The best strat in fighting games is to measure yourself against yourself.
it's good. that said rank quality is variable rn, there's reds I've played who are shit and demon players, be the demon player.
You need more back circle triangle squares😂
I just started playing Tekken with T8 and wanted to play drag after seeing his character reveal trailer but now I feel bad that everyone hates playing against him and don’t know if I should use him anymore
Everyone who? Who doesn’t know how to sidestep in the 3d game?
Don't give a shit on what other people think, play your chatacter and have fun dude
What an attention seeker. As if you care what others think about character you play in a fighting game.😂
Just have fun dude
Dragunov is so cool, never stop playing him.
what is the wr2 combo he showed at the start?
wr2 qcf3+4 4 4 df1 4 2 df3+4 heat df3+4 b4 2 df 4
@@thechanglongwangI love you, thanks.
After I started hitting that combo consistently in practice, all I had to say was "I need to take a shit"
My god this combo will make ranked easy street!
Tekken 8 is all about aggressive, so i think dragnuv is ok , chip damage can be healed anyway .
Lmao at that one guy in chat checking tmm's height just so he can comment on how short he is
tbf that shit caught me off guard too, always assumed tmm was around average height
It was a joke. Pretty sure tmm is tall from his old freestyle vids
I hope what happened to Drag in t7 won’t happen in this game. He was really good on release in t7 too
After 1+2 throw why dont u follow with back 4 3
Your sunset is such a fire song its crazy to think Ttt2 almost ruined Tekken
Someone needs to tell me where to get these so called "flowcharts" tho lol
While literally spamming strings 😂
@@jellypunk1495 it's yoshi did you even watch the video or are you a bot
Dragonuv taking Kiev by himself.
My Steve is at Tenryu and honestly I feel like retiring him. I only fight Drag King Lee and Reina on repeat and it feels impossible. Steve feels really weak compared to half the roster and I guess my movement and punish game just isn’t good enough. Like every character has half their moveset high crushing back 1 and Df2 and df1 are shitty mids. Idk.
IIRC wasn't it confirmed someone high up at Tekken team watches MainMan? AKA emergency Dragunov patch incoming 😂
I am seeing nothing but Drags online right mow and you’re telling me it’s a nerfed version of him? Where did they all come from?
Tier whoring in effect, unfortunately many people pick their characters based on their place in the meta instead of picking whoever is cool to them

Can anyone explain when to use quick stand and differences to tech roll left/right or holding back. I just haven't used it yet and don't know when to use it.
I hope they nerf yoshi soon. When they put back their sword he still maintains the same range as his sword moves which sometimes looks unseeable especially the unblockable sweep. They should make it make sense like in tekken 7. But dragonuv defo needs nerfs
What's the input of that knee when he's about to drop the combo? Can someone explain me pls?
QCR 3+4 ?
"Yoshi players grab like king players" well anyone would grab constantly if you keep blocking its not like they wanna do chip dmg all day 💀
Namco don’t put drag where he was on T7 after that 😂. Btw I still think your usage of drag heat isn’t optimal. The dash after his masku tec isn’t that good in comparison to what you can do if you stay in heat imo
Drag has allways been a + frame and low machine. Easy for intermediate players to rank with. Not many real desicitions to make tbh. Go pluss frames, go hard mids and abuse tracking lows.ggs
Can anyone tell me what that knee is after the running 2 for the pick up?
Notations for first combo?
I wonder how much did the game sell in the first month
What is the song that's playing vs claudio, that shit slaps.
