Me and my friend went to watch the Nun (in 4D) back in 2018.
After an entire dinner of bitching about the movie, she asked me if there were any positives about the movie.
I had nun.

But I agree on the Nun 2. I found myself in the theater constantly checking the time wondering how much longer could it possibly be. And the lack of Valek as well, hated it. It was kinda like Michael Myers in Halloween Ends.
It's funny watching this now and seeing how unexcited you were for Saw X, you weren't even going to do a review of it, but you ended up loving it!

I love the first movie of the Nun too, re-watched it after having seen The Nun 2 and yes, there's so much more to it, there's more to the story and the lore of Valak. And it's true the first film has also some funny moments that the second really doesn't have. I liked also the fact the name of the demon is written on the car's plate, for example.

I think they shouldn’t kill off the nun from conjuring 2 because it’s look like a big threat you need have few more movies used of the nun if necessary for interesting plot.

I don't if anyone else mentioned it, but there was a black girl in Annabelle: creation. It was one of the other orphan girls that went to live with Annabelle's parents.

@@HauntedHippie so true. Not really a major character like stories character was. And I agree with your thoughts on this film. Just ok. Just meh. I liked the first one more too. A little more story and character driven and you actually cared about the characters and how it could end.
@@HauntedHippie I guess she could be an extra. She was one of the younger ones that they didn't focus on. Which is why you forgot about her.
I liked it well enough, but I actually prefer the first Nun. It felt like Valak was barely in the second one and it just wasn't scary. This is my favorite horror franchise, so I'm maybe a bit lenient on even the lower entries. The story was decent and I liked the characters, setting, and score. I just wanted something scarier for such a creepy character. The magazine stand scene was great and the first few kills were brutal.
As soon as I saw the goat creature, I almost walked out. I just couldn’t do it, bro…

The Nun 1 wasn't a good movie but I absolutely loved that movie for being so gothic. I absolutely love gothic horror movies and tv shows whether it's the Woman in Black, the Witch, the Haunting of Bly Manor, Penny Dreadful or some of the gothic episodes of are you a afraid of the dark. And when it comes to gothic horror comedy, that Tim Burton movie called "Dark Shadows" and the Addams family tv show, movies and the recent Wednesday series is just awesome.

My 13 yr old daughter watched the first movie on the weekend by herself and said it was so boring and not scary, so won't bother with the 2nd.
Ngl, I'm Catholic i don't find the concept of being risen by a demon and bursting into flames that scary, I know some people who are deeply Catholic and I know for a fact they would never even consider going to see this film. My ex was more into faith than me, (her mum used to be a nun actually) and when I wanted to see the first nun film back when I was in college, she wouldn't go with me because she felt that it mocked nuns, I said thats the point of why the demon takes that form and she was not too pleased that I went to go see it with 2 of my friends.
Yea I assume y’all are not the target audience hahah but this type of horror is also kinda dependent on its audience to be under a catholic influence if they’re gonna find it scary. Most people don’t believe in demons

The Nun franchise is supposed to be one of those, remember when Catholic High School nuns were a pain. Well the shoe is on the other foot! Loved the 1st Nun. From the million crucifixes or tell-tale don’t go in there signs to the WWE Great Muta style, spitting the sweet blood of Jesus moment, I was cackling with camp entertainment. Nun II sounds like they had 1/2 budget of the first with a half baked edible of a plot. Missed opportunity. Though if this is blumhouse they’ll green light a 5 page script if it cost nothing. Your review is spot on. I didn’t mind at least seeing it. It’s just a let down considering what could have been. Why see it again, there would be no surprise left. Plus I agree, movies like this need to be around 90 minutes long. This could have easily been trimmed.

Hey Kylie I saw your IG page mentioned your sick hope you get better soon. Didn't have any intentions of Seeing the Nun 2 because the first Nun wasn't my Cup of tea. The characters were bland, generic and formulaic. However, I'd did appreciate the self awareness, gothic, atmospheric and daunting outlook of the film. Great Rant though. Saving my time in gonna go seeing the exorcist.
If we never get a movie with Vera and Taissa it's a waste.
I hate how not great The Nun movie was in comparison to The Conjuring. Valek is such a scary image. She made The Conjuring 2 scary. She deserves more.

@HauntedHippie Pretty much. I can be entertained and love movies with a supernatural feel (Hereditary, Gretal and Hansel, The Conjuring ) but you have to be ON point.

I actually love this film. It was basically a mystery slasher in some ways and deserves its R rating some amazing deaths in the franchise. I love Taissa Farmiga and Jonas Bloquet as Irene and Maurice, the cinematography, the set ups for the scares, exploring more of the lore of certain characters (if you know you know), and love that magazine sequence. I give The Nun II a 4.5/5

It was like the first one. Just a bunch of characters going into different rooms and things jumping out on them like walking into a maze. Nothing terrible but just extremely generic

Totally agree on this one. It was easily one of the weakest releases this year. Simply boring. Never reaches the tension of Conjuring.

Really surprising ending.
Sending Irene alone to investigate and stop Valak was the biggest mistake in the script.
I guess they thought Irene was a superhero now (?).
Too bad none of the schoolgirl bullies got their comeuppance.
I wanted Valak to lay the smack down on them so badly.
That entire plot line was just useless.
Just plain dumb.

I quit liked this movie maybe because I’m kinda new to this horror movie Sean but this was one of the two movies I’ve seen you review or watch the other one was the exalt evil dead rise that one was amazing it had that same actress from Vikings I think
This is one of the worst movies i have ever seen. It has zero good qualities. The conjuring universe needs to die! It overstayed its welcome.
Finally, someone who likes the original nun. Part 2 was bland and it should've been shorter because of all of the filler. The CGI was laughable. She was not scary once, especially in her second big reveal. Part one was self-aware, gothic, atmospheric, and daunting. Also, could someone explain how Maurice is still possessed by the nun when the conjuring begins but that's 20 years after the events of The Nun 2 where he was exorcised.
