I am sure they will, but have them put a cleanout both ways in the manure pipe going from barn to tank. Manure will settle sometimes and plug the line. You can use a power washer with a jetting tip and get it open. We had that many times with a 8 inch line.
the ramp in the big doorway needs to be scored to prevent slipping in icy conditions unless yall never have winter there!......g at 7:50 on your video a doorway is shown with a grade. you said something about "not too steep". that is the ramp i was referring to........g
@@southron49 The only door we will be regularly using is the feed alley and there is no ramp there. It is almost level going in. The other doors we can use when good conditions. The largest door is not going to have concrete ramp just clay and the cows will be blocked off from it. Maybe I'm misunderstanding?
@@southron49 ok I know what you mean. We had a lot of deliberations about ramps and pen depths for the dry cow pen and close up pen. We wanted a bit of storage but still be able to cleanout a long the manger with a tractor. My son thinks it's no different than a ramp at another barn we have. We may have to do what you are saying but will see how it goes. They seem to have a plan. The cows don't have to go up and down it at least. Once they are in the barn they will move internally or be loaded on a trailer straight out from the dry cow manger. Hard to imagine how it will all work just yet.
@@davidfahl9106 Yes, the close up pen and dry cow pen will be straw bedding pack and we wanted them a little deeper to give us more storage room. The compost pack has to be lower for storage and space to make a deep pack of shavings and the scrape alley has to be lower than the feed alley for cow comfort eating.
