I have watched a number of channels of off-grid homesteaders, but holy cow, the scale of projects you two tackle is just a world apart! So much fun to watch things evolve! I love the cooking parts, always neat to see how you use the food you've harvested in delicious looking dishes.
I think they are thinking we'll into thr future and not just the now. It's a great investment while they are young enough to tackle what is going to be a great way to prepare for their future.
I love that every time you build something, you celebrate by having your dinner right there at the building site. It's such a sweet thing. And I bet the seed room is going to be fantastic! Given the size of your planned greenhouse, I can't imagine you would be able to fit all the seedlings in your cabin anyway. Poor Eric would have been forced to sleep with the chickens otherwise!
I saw someone else say it on the last video but I want second the sentiment that I love how y’all never ask for likes and subs, you just share your adventures and lifestyle with anyone willing to watch. It’s quite refreshing that’s why I’ve been watching for about 4 years now. Keep it up!
One thing that delights me about Arielle and Eric - they rarely say "I", it's always "we". The mark of special people. And your slabs look magic - well done A, E and cement truck guys.
I have a Dutch friend. He speaks of people who have practical skills and those who plan and execute projects . He speaks of them having ‘golden hands.’ You both have ‘golden hands.’ 👍 Your impressive homestead development speaks of this. 😁Thank you for the enjoyable videos. Phil, Suffolk, U.K. 🇬🇧
This seed room is gonna be a fantastic addition to your property. More room in the cabin, a nice dedicated area to start the seeds and in floor heating! I can’t believe all that you have accomplished since the move. GREAT JOB you two!
I enjoy watching you two seems like yall really enjoy your wonderful life. Would have been so nice if my husband would have liked that kind of life. We have the land. ❤ Love watching fishing and hunting too. Watching yall from Berry Alabama. Yall keep doing what your doing cause we sure love watching. ❤ 😊 God bless you both.
As I watch you doing the myriad of things necessary to homestead in Alaska, I'm reminded of my Dad. He was a child of the Depression, raised in a red dirt farm in Georgia and grew up learning how to do everything. There was nothing he couldn't do with his hands and I see that in you two. He's been on to Glory for almost 40 years but he would have loved your channel. He was a bit disappointed in me that I chose a different life, but was a terrific father. God bless both of you
My dad was similar, but in Iowa. And even when he had his own family and a successful small business owning his private dental practice, he lived frugally and had a HUGE garden and had a canning kitchen in the basement and a cellar, but unfortunately my mom was not good about using the foods, so there were still items from the 90s in the 2000's. As an adult who enjoys gardening now, I wish I did that activity with my dad more often (aside from the required bean and raspberry harvesting we sometimes did as children).
His parents grew everything by hand, too, and lived so frugally. My grandma (his mom) had never been to a restaurant until she was in her 80s after getting remarried to a gentleman who was more metropolitan and knew the finer things in life; I'm so glad she was able to experience a more luxurious and carefree life before she passed suddenly. She was always scary growing up and she lightened up so much during her last years of life.
I love how Bandit decided to help out with a stress test, standing RIGHT in the middle of the drying concrete 😂😂! Teamwork makes the dream work! Great job!
You two make it look so easy! I know it’s a lot of hard work, but it’s your work ethic, you do it because you enjoy the life style you have chosen. It’s a beautiful thing to behold. Thank you both for taking the time to video it. 🙏🏻☺️.
The trowel you used on the edge that has a curved side, you are to push it down on the side a slide it back and forth to create a smooth curved edge. When you put a chalk line down on concrete you spray it with clear enamel paint so it don’t wash off.
I hope you guys know what an inspiration you are. The planning and hard work you have put in creating your infrastructure is simply awesome. I’m so excited to see what happens next! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪💪💪
This is going to sound cheesy but I look forward to seeing your work every week! You guys make me wish I was 30 years younger so I could accomplish half of what you do!
I agree with so many of these comments you two are just the best. You work so well together as a team. You have accomplished so very much and your little celebration every time you do something is so special. I am so happy that I found your page long ago. I have watched every single one of your videos and some a couple of times . I get excited when I see a new one posted as I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way. I wish you both nothing but happiness and prosperity forever and always. Thank you for all that you do to bring us awesome videos.
You two still amaze me. What a team you make. What a life you have. God bless you two. We love you. Looking forward to a trip out to the remote cabin❤️❤️🇺🇸
Concrete will always crack joining two slabs together. Its called a cold joint. but you did it correctly by adding the rebar to one another. Typically its at 2 ft on center. Been following for along time now . Love the videos!
Hello Arielle & Eric. Regarding your ginger. Well done. Here in Queensland Aust. I grow ginger. I get so much that I have worked out a way to preserve it. Scrub and scape off any brown skin, slice up with a mandolin into thin slabs, place in a sterilised glass jar and cover with a heavy pickling brine ( salt only - no spices) I keep it in the fridge. Every time you need ginger, take a pieces out and process as desired for cooking. Lasts for ever. We love your videos and look forward to every progress.
I absolutely love every time you post. Could you please build a cool table and sit down when you eat? You deserve to sit down at the end of your hard day!
The thing I love and appreciate about you two is that you research and learn from your experience and progressively do nicer and nicer work with every project! Your homestead is turning into a well oiled machine that will allow you to thrive and that’s amazing! GREAT JOB and keep up the good work!
Great to see y'all getting the seed growing room built and it is looking really great and hope you get it all done before cold weather begins take care and Thank Y'all.👍☕🇺🇲
When I was building Habitat houses the foundation slab was just like yours, except I used foam boards around the edge. This separates the ground temperature from the slab temperature. You can still put foam around the slab edge when the forms are removed.
I just have to say I enjoy all the videos. Big or small I feel the pride as you complete each one. I’m feeling motivated to get ready for winter. Most of my veggies are out and processed. Soon it will be time to plant my garlic then dream about spring. Still harvesting tomatoes and huge sunflowers.. Keep well everyone!. Happy Labour Day.🇨🇦
It’s a lot of work for two people to pour a slab that size, but if you tap the forms with a hammer before the concrete cures you can avoid the “honeycomb” on the outside edges. You can seal it with mortar if are worried. Ice can get in and crack the edge 😬 I always enjoy your videos 👍👍👍
So excited to see the seed room being built this year! You’ve really accomplished A LOT this summer! Whew! Can’t wait to see it finished & in use, feeding the greenhouse and garden - and yourselves. I continually marvel at how your construction skills are constantly evolving. My favorite vids are of you two building stuff, followed by the garden & chickens
IF I HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING ABOUT YOU GUYS IS THAT YOU EAT WELL AND HEALTHY FOODS ..ERIC YOU ARE SO BLESSED TO HAVE SUCH A WONDERFUL WOMAN!!!..SHE IS ALWAYS UP TO THE TASK AT HAND ✋️ 💗 🎉..NICE SLAB ..YOU GUYS HANDLED IT LIKE A PRO ..THAT YOU ARE, YOU DID IT BEFORE 👏 🙌..
When Ariel started slicing that ginger I could smell it all the way to here, in Connecticut. Fresh ginger is addictive. Keep some on hand for ginger tea if you catch a cold.
Well you started out novices and have become journeymen builders concrete finishers designers and all around Alaskans. Being from Oregon I'm really proud you came from here. I'm proud of you!!
A trick to using the chalk line is after you make your lines spray them with a can of clear spray paint. The water won’t wash away when you cut or it rains. This also works on wood if you are doing a layout and don’t want your lines to go away on your subfloor when you sweep and clean up at the end of the day
I know your excited to see rows of plant starts growing - so much easier to imagine when you have a floor in place. It looks amazing and you should be very proud of yourselves for this great new addition. So happy for you.
Love and respect you guys 100 percent %! feel like i know you personally. Hope to meet someday, sorry about Bo. He was a trooper and as tough as you two are. much love. Joe Martin eldorado springs missouri.
To get the nice finish you need to use a jitter bug for concrete or a vibrating screed. This pushes the rocks down a little and brings the grout up which allows for a smooth tool finish.
Wow you guys build awesome projects. Upgrading everything. I watched every video of you guys for like four years now. never missed one. Thanks for your guys videos.
You both continue to amaze us with what you are able to do. The research, time, and effort you put into all the projects shows in the successful outcomes. With you in spirit since you traveled to Alaska and look forward to each week.
I'm going to tell you what what you need to work is just absolutely incredible I just love watching how they put everything together and I have no problem in their choices cuz I don't know nothing
The amount of details and work you share just blows my mind! You both are incredible role models of hard work and skill - not just in homesteading, but in life. Mahalo!!! 🤙🏾
You two are very empowering. Love the motivation and always strieving. Can't wait to see the seed house finished. As always your Gourmet food looks delicious!
I can only dream of what you two are doing, but what I most like is how well you work together, I'm single by choice but it would be so cool to have someone interested in the same things as me and do projects together.
Everything you guys make looks so yummy even if Some of the ingredients make me question What in the world that would possibly taste like. Thank you for another wonderful Glimpse into your exciting life!

I agree with you. These kids do it all and I trust them-not so sure about those others.
Yes they are truely amazing😮. I have just been wondering if your seedroom is going to be big enough😂. Stay safe and healthy❤
They are two very intelligent people.
@@JZ-xu3vg So negative. They own more than this property and I get the impression that this is they lifestyle they chose.

I love how thoughtful you are about building your future home. I love watching how you live such full lives in Alaska!!

I love hearing other people talk about their parents who were children during the depression. My parents were also and the stories they can tell you.
I loved seeing Bandit stand on the cement like he was king of the castle. ❤️
I love how Bandit decided to help out with a stress test, standing RIGHT in the middle of the drying concrete 😂😂! Teamwork makes the dream work! Great job!
For a young couple, IAM so amazed at how the two of you know and accomplish so much.
Eric and Arielle are a classic example of successful. How do you become successful? You work at it and make it happen.
