I was honestly surprised how much fun I’m having on this game. It’s like crew but with bikes and snowboarding/skiing. And of course the wing suits.
I would love to play it but really not for that price. Way to much for a game like this.

Same hated it at first but once u get better gear oh man.. shits awesome and doing back to back combos is amazing
I would say it's way more in the vain of Steep rather than Crew 2.
I've played Steep for 100'ish hours and holy hell do I love RR. I put like 20 hours into it in the first 3 days.
Not even close to the crew can’t upgrade any of your bikes or anything
I've always had a soft spot for these types of sports games, I gotta shoutout Shaun White's Snowboarding! That game was wayyy underrated!
100% I'd also like to throw Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer into the mix

Ubisoft team behind this really need to pat themselves on the back for this one, we’ve been needing an arcadish extreme sports where you can just do the most ridiculous things.
I really don't play sports or "riding" games like these at all (except Forza Horizon, lol), but I still clicked on the vid as I do enjoy listening to a Baldino talk about the things he loves, hahaha. 💯👌🏼 Funny thing is, I almost actually want to try the game now.

Jake, dude. You just summed up my exact feelings about Riders Republic, down to the lone gamer archetype, lol. I came up on that same library (THPS, SSX, etc.) and nothing has quenched the drought left from that era until I played RR. I'm having so much fucking fun! Pro Tip: mute the character voices. Mute them straight to hell!

I am loving the game as well. I would love to see more sports added in future updates. If jet skis were added to satisfy my nostalgia for jet x2o I would be so happy
I used to play Downhill Domination for hours on the PS2 back in the day and nothing has ever scratched that itch, but this intrigues me
How many of you remember downhill domination ?? It was so fun on the ps2 doing those stunts and all those cool characters and the weather effects were great for the time

When you were listing the classic games of this genre, I couldn't help but think of Whirl Tour: the playstation 2 scooter game with bosses and challeneges that were difficult and fun
The secret areas and collectables made it fun to explore
I just got back from vacation hiking in Zion and Bryce Canyon. Super cool seeing them in game. Some of the trails are quite well recreated. Was even able to find the exact spots i took pictures of in real life

Tony Hawk PS 1+2 was at the top of my list for go-to chill-out games to keep me sane this past year, and I've been itching for more snowboarding games, as 1080 defined an unhealthy amount of my gaming teen years, SSX my 20's.

I bought it at $49.99 from epic store with the $10 coupon. The first game i have ever bought outside of steam. It’s been a blast, i really enjoyed it.

I've been playing it constantly with my friend and it's so good, but they should change switching between trickster and racing modes to a single button press, and they should really add skateboards, scooters, and Jetskis.

They will possibly add more sports like kayaking, longboarding, BMX, surfing, etc etc, and some crazy exotic vehicles too (like zorb balls for example). All of these were in their player feedback form
Doubt they will add skateboards since we have Session, Skater Xl, and About to have skate 4. But would be cool and the one foot snowboard gives us the push animation already.

When you said SSX One of the best games ever made. 😫 That was my Jam especially SSX3. One of the best Games ever made! Ubisoft Games I was really into was AC Syndicate, Steep, and Division 2. But recently they haven't made anything that I liked until Riders Republic.
I was interested when the trailer came out but never expected for this to fit in a industry full of narrative games and BR's yet I was so blown away how immediately I fell in love with this game. It's so much fun doing everything from the insane mass races to just riding the countryside. Not to mention how amazing it runs even on last gen consoles.

This game is actually SO sick. Reminds me of Downhill Domination and SSX... The good ol' days.

It's just got so much replay value. with them adding a BMX career later in the year it's got legs to last too. skateboarding would be amazing too.
Yeah that would be awesome but doubt it. Since "session" "skater xl" " skate 4"... but they have a push animation already with the one footed snowboard

I've been playing Riders Republic on PC with Ubisoft+ subscription and I feel the price is right.
It's been fun. But I've been imagining an Assassin's Creed game with an open world multiplayer playground. It would have 64 player parkour races. If they can capture that same craziness and fun of the Riders Republic mass races, they'd have a hit.
Man, Cool boarders 2, thps, Dave Mirra, Street sk8r. Aggressive inline and MXvsATV were my life for a long time. Can't imagine having this game at that age, I'd be obsessed
I played the shit out of the SSX: Tricky demo on PS2 demo disk back in the day man. My dad and I loved that game

SSX Tricky was the peak of this genre for me.
As a fan of all the games from this genre you mentioned, I'm really looking forward to picking this up on sale after they fix the bugs 🐛
I tried the trial week (which was a great way to get into the game) and I was hooked. It’s such a dumb fun-type game and, as you said, just a game to chill out in.
Totally true. After jumping in I thought it had some issues, sure, but the raw fun factor was 100%. Also really accessible and gives you all the tools you find yourself wanting during the tutorial after a very reasonable time, and from then on it just keeps on delivering
Glad somebody remembered BMX XXX and Agressive Inline hell yes. I swear Jake the more I learn about you dude I feel like we would have been best friends growing up if we knew each other lol just realized we have a lot of the same taste.
I can't believe you didn't include Shaun Murray wakeboarding or Kelly Slaters surfing, both were Hawk worthy games. Still waiting on Tony Hawk new versions of 3 and 4 to come out, I guess we have to wait for that design team to finish with Diablo redo. Nice video, thanks.

You ever play the trials games? like trials hd, trials evolution, trials fusion, etc? they were also done by ubisoft and were the first games I thought of when I saw this games reveal, used to love those games back in the day, specially trials evolution with all the custom tracks made using the track builder.

ATV Offroad Fury and Tony Hawk's Underground on GameCube were two of the first video games I ever owned. I owe a lot of my music and and gaming tastes to those two games.
You may have convinced me to check this out. I was actually playing some ATV Off-road Fury yesterday on my PS2 and I’ve been itching for something like that and SSX recently. This may just scratch that itch…

Downhill Domination was my jam man
I was one of those big fans of Steep! I thought it was a great visual game and has some fun things to do. It’s not a game I’d say I always have downloaded but it’s a fun pick up and play that lets you do whatever. Definitely gonna have to checkout riders republic.
Aggressive Inline was another great extreme sports game from that era. Riders Republic was fun for me during the beta but I think I'm waiting for a little bit of a sale.
I remembered playing 1080 back when Target/Walmart let you try out new games. Finally figuring out how to nail a 1080 over and over and the kids in line behind you with their hands sweating, waiting their turn... Lol
I still plays Trials occasionally (another ubisoft acquired game) and it was pretty cool to see they actually had a Halloween event cause the game is many years olds
As much as I want to buy this game like NOW, I will hold off another year only because I know from the crew 2 after that year of polishing, the game is really amazing. I also see the transitions mid race from bike to ski or ski to jet etc etc has a stutter and the crew 2 doesn’t have that so I anticipate them fixing that within the next year!

Before I heard of this game I was super excited to play the new Forza. I was playing the intro to Forza last night and I saw 2 people jump out of cargo planes with wing suits and dirt bikes. From behind the wheel of the car I thought, “I don’t want to do this… I want to do that.”

When he was listing off old games I thought of extreme 1 2 and 3 for PlayStation the one where you can rollerblade mountain bike skateboard and that one we roll downhill laying on your back on the skateboard thing that's called like cities and stuff and like jumping over cars that game was a blast

You’re a true gamer if you remember the Xbox 360 and I’m not too sure if it was on ps3 but the game PURE came out around 2008 ish but it was an amazing ATV racing game with amazing visuals for its time
The 28th pf october I went to Walmart and I was sitting there like "Riders or guardians hmmm" was there for like 45 minutes. Picked Riders and It did not disappoint, its my favorite live service type game. First one that has really hooked me in a while.
Also, dont forget to tell people about ubisoft connect+ you get day one access to the highest edition available of each game they release. Plus, you get access to their library of games. I just mention this because you said it's a full price game. I havent played this one, but i keep my sub for other games like prince of persia, splinter cell, ghost recon, and all the other IPs ubisoft has. Every assassin's creed game, ever far cry. And unlimited access to every new release on day one. Imo, this and xbox game pass are tied for first when it comes to game subscription services.
I had this happen with Aliens: Fireteam Elite earlier in the year. Also Rider's Republic seems to be the same. Really want to give this more of a look once it gets polished up.
If there ever be a sequel to Riders Republic, it should take place in the Swiss Alps and add motocross to the list of sports.
Bought it on a whim. Fun for a brief while, would definitely recommend waiting until it goes on sale at 50 percent or more off.
It's soooo good. I enjoyed Steep for like... an hour, but I am already like 15 hours into this and loving it. So addictive. And weirdly, I was expecting to spend most of my time skiing but what has really grabbed me is the mountain biking.

i really enjoyed RR during the trial week. i'll definitely download it once it's at a decent price or gets some big updates.
people always shit on ubisoft nowadays but i've played pretty much all of their games since the early 2000s plus my group of friends still play almost every release together. i'm currently waiting on Far Cry 6 to finish downloading so we can play it.
I enjoyed steep a fair bit, but it had so much dlc and expansions that it felt like I was missing 70% of the game by having the standard version, so I’m gonna wait on this and see if they decide to go down that route again

Extreme sports have always been my jam when it comes to ANY kind of sports. I'm sick of Ubisoft now but like Steep, this game got to me and I'm really REALLY into it.

It sounds like a sick game, but honestly, if its not split screen i ain't getting it. There just aren't enough next gen split screen games anymore and this seems like the perfect game for that
I would add Downhill Domination to that mix of awesome PS2 action sports games. Even though you could throw beer bottles at people I remember it having some of the most fun downhill racing I’ve seen in a game
Bro Guardians is so GOOD! Such a welcome surprise. Been yearning for a good superhero game and man does it deliver exactly what I needed and more.
If only it wasn't full price AND monetised I'd agree with you. If they had gone with a F2P model then this game would be really successful. Companies are trying to see if they can charge full price and then increasingly monetise content. Unless called out on it they will succeed.
This and Steep from Ubisoft for me are “Jack of all trades; master of none” kind of games. Everything was ok but if I wanted to just play one thing, it gets old real quick. I get the appeal here but I would love to see Ubisoft focus on one extreme sport and make a whole game out of it like the mountain biking or snowboarding.

Does anyone remember when ps1 came out there was a game demo disk that it came with that had a bike race on it. I remember being blown away by the graphics. Lol I would love to see what it looks like now.

I like how steep was more grounded, and challenging in actually staying on (controlling) the board, and it was really hard landing after a high jump. I like the manual landing in RR after doing tricks. However it feels very arcady, almost toylike, u cant do a 90-180 degree turn on a 70km/h speed irl, but in this game u do, and also keep the momentum, feels very odd and wrong.
I want more games like THPS, Mat Hoffman’s pro bmx, Dave Mirra where they focus less on serious aspects and have you complete simple tasks to advance to the next level. New games just seem wrapped too tight and rely too much on making it “real” opposed to making it “fun”

This is definitely a sleeper game. It's super fun. The type of game u accidentally play for 6 hours lol. The mass races are insane!
