Hi, Colin! In passaggio we tend to push a bit, especially in those moments when the voice doesn't seem to know how to place itself. This exercise is good through first passaggio only (I never take it higher than a g above middle C or the octave below that for guys). If you feel the tension, try going above passaggio, say to an F or G and do the exercise in the descending pattern. See if you notice the tension subside. If so, work it that way for a short period, then return to the ascending line.
Hi! I do offer online work in a variety of ways. If you visit my website at debralynn.org, you can reach out through the contact me link. We can then set up a short online consultation! Look forward to hearing from you! 🙏
@@DebraLynnBelCanto Hi thank you.I have sent a message. Here is a song I wrote if you would like to have an idea of the challenge :) I don't think we are allowed to put links. The song is called Song for Hannah.

Thanks Debra. Should I be doing this through my passagio please? My passagio is not smooth yet, and I can feel throat tension if I try to hum there.

Hello Debra, do you have an online course ? I sing folk and country style songs and play the guitar. I'd l really like to be a better singer :)
