Haitian Epis Recipe 🇭🇹 ( Meat & Rice)

Bonjour everyone! I’m going to show you the basic way to prepare Haitian Epis, which just means spices. This is the mixture we traditionally use in Haitian culture as the base for our recipes including our meats, rices and vegetables.

Basic Ingredients:
Yellow, Green, & Orange Pepper
Bright Green Bell Pepper
Scotch Bonnet Pepper
Garlic Cloves (about 3 heads)
Fresh Parsley
Fresh Scallions
Leeks
Celery
Lemon
Lime
Seasonings:
Olive Oil (you can use any oil)
Paprika ( 1/2 tablespoon)
Turmeric (1/2 tablespoon)
Seasoned Salt (1 teaspoon)
Sour Orange (2 ounces)

Any tips for freezing epis? Or do you only use fresh epis?

Hey!! The glass jar helps preserve the epis so put it in a jar immediately after blending. Once you open the jar to use it, you need to store it in the refrigerator. Freezing is optional, but if you want to freeze it, do not use a glass jar.

Epis lasts a few months, just make sure you preserve it in a glass jar in the refrigerator or in a container in the freezer..
