    The V1.2 update is out that fixes the filter emptying problem a bunch of people were having (theoretically). If you want to build this sorter, use the input logic from the V1.2 system linked in the description!

    This is 100% what i was looking for. Fast sorting for non-bulk items. If i add a shulker box bulk storage after this module (without the miscellaneous filter) and just stor everything that the bulk sorters dont catch in a miscellaneous slice, this might be the perfect storage system for like 99% of the playerbase. Thanks for this design.

    • @lummiethief
      @lummiethief  2 года назад +8

      Before you build, you should be aware of a problem that a lot of people are having with this system on servers where sometimes the cart will only grab 3 blocker items and then break everything I'm working on a solution, but for now either build a very small version that you can thoroughly test, or hold off on building it.

    I've been slowly researching up on storage tech stuff as I've wanted an extremely simple setup for my survival base. I love the overcomplicated designs in principal, but in reality they're just kinda useless for 90% of players. This is a survival friendly, compact (for what it does), and effective solution to a common problem.
    I could easily see this system overtaking pretty much any other automated storage solution for vanilla minecraft.

I was already of the opinion that multi-item sorters were amazing, but this one is fast, mesmerising to watch in action, and uses a number of interesting minecart behavioural quirks; not to mention I admire anyone who has the patience to tune redstone timings. Also, full respect for crediting all sources of inspiration, etc. Excellent clarity in the tutorial too (the occasional mistake is a non-issue since you explained them when they occurred; building as much as you did from memory just shows how much time and effort you must've put in to attain that level of familiarity with it). That's amazing, congrats! It looks like the only disadvantage is no overflow protection? That could be a big deal for some people but I'd say it's worth the much higher speed of the system. Maybe having to press the button every time could be a disadvantage for some people, too - e.g. makes it slightly more difficult when you don't input the items in the chest manually.

    • @lummiethief
      @lummiethief  2 года назад +20

      Yup, the design isn't perfect, but I don't think any storage system is perfect. This one balances speed and complexity to be a perfect mid game storage system that's small and relatively easy to build, and in that context the lack of overflow might not be a problem since you won't be dealing with too many items. However, this is only the first version so there's definitely room to improve the design.

    • @simonprobert8765
      @simonprobert8765 2 года назад +4

      I don't think it would be too difficult to adjust the input to use shulkerboxes and then activate it automatically whenever there are shulkerboxes in the system, though I haven't tried... It might also be possible to add an overflow by somehow redesigning the cart yeeter to be able to collect any remaining items after sorting. Though that might get complicated.

    The *only* suggestion I would offer on your videos is a portion where you state how many and what type of blocks a build will need.
    i.e. The input requires: 2 redstone lamps, 1 button, etc.
    Other than that, great video!!

    Im am now working a base in creative (which I hope to build in survival of course) and not so long ago I got the storage done. I was watching videos to find a good storage that fits my needs but couldn't find one so just resolved to using an old one thats slow. Now that I see this I have to switch it haha.
    You sound very excited to share this system in the video and for good reason. This is fantastic, thank you.

    I’ve been putting off building an auto sorter/storage system in my long term world & now I know why!!! Can’t wait to dig into this, it looks perfect. Gonna try to expand the input chest & link a shulker unloader in there as well 🎉
    EDIT: just saw the 2.0 video, you did the shulker part for me!!! 😍

    I just almost finished the Categorizer by Maizuma... but I'm going to take it down and build this instead. This is so cool, great job! I love the inclusion of ilmango's instant hopper minecart unloader!
