Minecart redstone mechanic here. So the reason the cart does that at around 9:00 is due to edge case timing and weighted cart stats. Long story short, if a bent rail switches directs right as a cart gets to it then the cart bugs out and sometimes goes backwards like that. The reason it was only happening with less than 32 items in it is due to the weight stat of the cart. The more items you put into a cart, the "heavier" that cart gets, and that "weight" actually effects the speed and travel length of the cart. So the timing is ever so slightly different if the cart is "heavier" which means it does not hit the edge case that makes it turn around.
@@jasonharpster1701 I'm guessing that they're identical. The game doesn't have a real "weight" stat. I think it's just related to the number of items in it

Thanks for your wonderful videos, hope you learned something new!
I finally found it. The reason I find it easier and more natural to call it spoon rather than shovel in Minecraft. It must be because of this man. Tbh I never caught Mumbo saying it before now, but it must be the reason
oh man there are reasons why sorters like rapscallion's cartmis v3 have so many safety precautions, i can't wait for this to horribly break on hermitcraft
The reason is they're hugely (impressive) complicated machines that push the boundaries of what's possible. This is a two minecart system, that despite me making a meal of certain elements due to my flu filled brain, relies on fundamentally very simple redstone. I'm not saying it won't break, but if it does it will take me 10 seconds to diagnose and fix, which makes it right for me 😊
@@ThatMumboJumbo I can think of one way in which it could easily break, and that is if more than 63 items get into one of the sorting carts, which would mean that item stack can't pick up more of itself and will send those items to misc storage. 1:12, You can always continue it afterward. Your well being should always take priority over content. I personally use chest boats which work well, though chunk loaders may be needed depending on size and application.
Some random ideas to make this build more complicated: - parallel operation: use more minecarts at the same time. Make sure the carts are launched slower than the time the filter item needs to go back into the filter chest. You then need to build an unloading queue, if multiple minecarts are going into the same filter. - randomize the items picked by the minecart using a dropper, which would make it less probable for parallel minecarts trying to pick the same item - fully load the minecart and afterwards unload one item (same as with the spoons) so signs, snowballs etc don't break the system. (9:24) you could even try to put this one item back into the filter
Ever since Mumbo annoucned he'd be having different shop fronts for each of his item types, I was wondering, ''How is he going to redstonify all this into a proper sorting array?'' Welp, the man has definitely answered my question spot on!

That’s why I’m watching it still; never said I already watched it. That said, I’m likely not going to make one as it’s been a long time since I played mc
I know it's most likely not, but I hope the redstone in this build is compatible with bedrock education. I always love Mumbo's processes to build a new redstone build that you see the step by step of how and most importantly why it works.
I’m not sure if you already have a plan for where to build it, but doing some sort of post office for the system would be very cool. I’d like to think that’s what the bits and bobs store and big Ron’s store their stuff in.
I think a way you could make it ever so slightly faster is, instead of breaking the minecart, you could make a device which releases a new minecart once the other one has finished unloading, and then holding that one for future use after the other one has finished going.
8:22 I would love to see them change the wandering trader’s AI so he lurks nearby but doesn’t get all up in your business. He could even set up a little cart! And given how Minecraft’s head moving is very expressive and there’s already a similar game mechanic with Endermen, maybe we could shake our head at him and he’d move along?
an item sorter to sort the itens to make an item sorter to sort the itens to make an item sorter to sort the itens to make an item sorter to sort the itens to make an item sorter to sort the itens to make an item sorter
Love getting little red stone projects from Mumbo, always cool watching and hearing what his minds going through as he’s making such a complicated red stone build. Also love how it looks like a V10 Engine
You should build a warehouse that all the ‘shops’ receive their inventory (your inventory) from ‘trucks’ (you) and it it gets sorted and sent out like a big amazon warehouse
Love your stuff and it honestly inspired me to do some redstone stuff. You probably won't read this or do this, but here's a challenge: Make a two way, circular slime block elevator with a 19 block platform (Honey allowed). It must have a slab platform on top. Have fun!:)
I'm interested to see how the traditional item sorter will split to the two units of this sorter because when you put multiple items in a double chest at once, as Mumbo did here, it splits the items evenly, but when you feed items into the double chest one at a time with a hopper, they all go to one side. I was playing around with this recently trying various ways to get the hoppers to alternate being powered using either comparators or a redstone clock, but could never get a perfect 50/50 split of the items with any consistency
The fact Mumbo has almost 10 million subscribers is nuts. Been watching since the early red stone days and it’s just awesome to see him still at it. The film channel as well.
Nothing brightens my day more than a new Mumbo redstone video!! 🎉 I’ve been a huge fan of your content for years and still love watching it as much as I did back then! Hope you’re enjoying making videos as much as I enjoy watching them!
New redstone component suggestion: Dropserver! It automatically spits out its items without needing a redstone pulse, but can be turned off when powered. I also like the idea of people trying to pronounce the name of the dispenser version of it, called the dispserver. Good luck trying to pronounce that!
You could always build this in a chunk tower configuration and have it hidden in magic mountain. Absolutely thrilled that someone utilized the speed of the hopper minecarts. Mumbo does it again! “Chuffed to bits with this one”
Don't worry Mumbo I got ill too. It's weird that I get more often ill in the summer than in the winter. It's luckily not an allergy, but it still happens. We hope you get well soon!
To get around the issue with the signs you could let the hopper minecart extract as many items as it wants and then send it over a hopper, which will remove one item from the first stack and return it to the 'to sort' - chest. That way any stack size can be processed, except unstackables, of course.
That’s a cool sorting system. I think the reason it looks faster than a normal one is because you have 2 hoppers draining from the original chest though, which runs the 2 sorting system sin parallel. I suspect it’d be similar if not slower in actual practice (despite looking cool) due to your minecart inefficiency and the limitation of still transferring items at hopper speed. Benefit of having the ability to handle stacks of items is a plus though. Especially if you have a water stream based item movement which can de-spawn after 5min.
As someone, who managed to built a sorting system of this kind in the past and nearly went insane while trying to fix all issues (without minecarts, but that shouldn't matter in this case), i would recommend that you should build a junk loader while the system is running ;)
Thought I'd mix things up today and do some redstone.

I think a way you could make it ever so slightly faster is, instead of breaking the minecart, you could make a device which releases a new minecart once the other one has finished unloading, and then holding that one for future use after the other one has finished going.
Day 140 of letting mumbo know he's not the only thumb shifter
My parents said if I hit 80k they'd buy me a professional camera for recording... begging you guys please 💪
I index finger shift :>
Freak
Day 279 of telling bots to shut up
Thumbo jumbo needs to stay gone
Can’t wait to see the full tutorial on this thing, its beautifully designed
Should probably use CartMIS V3!
Hmmm, video idea? Maybe even an "community event"?
Which is the fastest sorting system type? Hopper, Water+Hopper, Carts, Carts+Water etc.
moustache looking great today Mumbo Jumbolio. still baffled you weren't mayor in season 7
Yeah, that’s cool. Now make an item sorter sorter.
Can't wait to see the item sorter sorter sorted.
an item sorter to sort the itens to make an item sorter to sort the itens to make an item sorter to sort the itens to make an item sorter to sort the itens to make an item sorter to sort the itens to make an item sorter
Love getting little red stone projects from Mumbo, always cool watching and hearing what his minds going through as he’s making such a complicated red stone build. Also love how it looks like a V10 Engine
Mumbo advanced Redstone that's a definite insta click.
nice A.S.S. (automatic sorting system) mumbo!
i don’t understand redstone but i will for mumbo
Amen lol
You should build a warehouse that all the ‘shops’ receive their inventory (your inventory) from ‘trucks’ (you) and it it gets sorted and sent out like a big amazon warehouse
13:58 “I can’t see how this could go wrong”
Grian: “Allow me to introduce myself”
You should use the small transformer builds you marked out as drop boxes that then go into the sorting system, that would be cool if it's possible.
0:35 XD yes mumbo jumbo! the redstoner!
It’s nice to see Mumbo back doing some redstone
Please build our silly redstone ideas again!
Love your stuff and it honestly inspired me to do some redstone stuff. You probably won't read this or do this, but here's a challenge:
Make a two way, circular slime block elevator with a 19 block platform (Honey allowed). It must have a slab platform on top. Have fun!:)
So in the end, it's "Jill and Bill's bits and bobs" antique store
(Who knows, knows)
at one point it was jill and bob i think so no one knows
0:33 - It must be so cool to be MubmoJumbo. Like if you have a need of a specific contraption, you can just design it yourself.
"This is a joke about creativity"
That is actually so genius and creative omg I love paradoxical jokes
I'm interested to see how the traditional item sorter will split to the two units of this sorter because when you put multiple items in a double chest at once, as Mumbo did here, it splits the items evenly, but when you feed items into the double chest one at a time with a hopper, they all go to one side. I was playing around with this recently trying various ways to get the hoppers to alternate being powered using either comparators or a redstone clock, but could never get a perfect 50/50 split of the items with any consistency
"I'm mumbo jumbo" spoken like a true god of Minecraft. Keep your head up king.
The fact Mumbo has almost 10 million subscribers is nuts. Been watching since the early red stone days and it’s just awesome to see him still at it. The film channel as well.
10:15 it looks like a v10 engine.
Nothing brightens my day more than a new Mumbo redstone video!! 🎉 I’ve been a huge fan of your content for years and still love watching it as much as I did back then! Hope you’re enjoying making videos as much as I enjoy watching them!
Is mumbo at 10million yet its season 10 its kinda ironic he should reach 10 million on season 10 of hermitcraft 0:06
New redstone component suggestion: Dropserver! It automatically spits out its items without needing a redstone pulse, but can be turned off when powered. I also like the idea of people trying to pronounce the name of the dispenser version of it, called the dispserver. Good luck trying to pronounce that!
I can't even sort my thoughts
You could always build this in a chunk tower configuration and have it hidden in magic mountain. Absolutely thrilled that someone utilized the speed of the hopper minecarts.
Mumbo does it again!
“Chuffed to bits with this one”
Jumbolio Mumboniiii
13:59 “I can’t see how it can go wrong”…
*famous last words*
Day 142 of letting mumbo know he's not the only thumb shifter
Don't worry Mumbo I got ill too. It's weird that I get more often ill in the summer than in the winter. It's luckily not an allergy, but it still happens. We hope you get well soon!
early gang
Congrats on being the first🎉
I'm not early I just found your comment
This is the most fantastic item sorter i've seen. Absolutly revollutionary stuff I am so looking forward to understand and make this myself.
really like the "new" format, with the concept arts and LOVE the merch, will definitly think about buying the entire collection :D
I'm loving the title cards today!
That energy is just immaculate!
“Removal of spoons” got me off guard 3:53
3:15 I feel like someone, somewhere is gonna create a custom faceplate for the gamecube that has the Big Ron’s logo
Hermitcraft 10 has been like Opposite Day. Mumbo is focusing on building, and Grian is focusing on farms.
Dude, you're absolutely smashing it recently.
Good to see Mumbo going back to what he’s known for. We love your building Mumbo but we can’t lose the redstoning
Mumbo built a Redstone engine. That's what this looks like to me. Why? Because this will power Mumbo's building batteries!
Mumbo: I don't see how this could go wrong.
Grian and Scar: allow us to introduce ourselves!
Hello, Humans
Strive for that which is impossible or hard to attain. You don't want to settle like most humans.
TERRANCE OUT
"How does someone get a cold on Summer solstace"
