I ADORE both styles of boho and as i live in a hot country i cannot resist colours. I'm forever moving things around in my home so it's never boring. I'm 70 years old and can never remember having so much fun at home. It's so gorgeous that i rarely wish to go out. I love my home so much that i talk to it and frequently tell her how beautiful she is😂. Yet everything is recycled or old. Everything tells a story and has a soul. Less is more? Utter nonsense !!! Less is less full stop !!! Just found your channel and loving it !!!!

However, it might not only have to do with age but simply that we live, grow and evolve our tastes and preferences as we go. I definitely feel like color gives a more fun, vibrant, youthful feel to a room and neutrals provide a more peaceful, serene, mature vibe and I’ve learned that sometimes choosing your color palette based on how you want to feel in a room is better than just choosing what you’re normally attracted to. Maybe your favorite color is red but if you want a calming atmosphere you don’t want to paint your walls that.
You are so right, Vanessa, I totally agree with you! :) Back when I lived in Sweden, I decorated my home in the colourful boho style, and painted my living room walls red. It was very funky and suited me well at the time. As I have worked as an Interior Designer for many years, I deal with so many colours, patterns and textures on a daily basis, , so now I personally prefer a more neutral base in my home, where I easily can add some pop of colours if and when I feel like it.
I'm a Southwestern Boho fan. My living room even has my spurs on the wall and cowhide print throws on my couch. I'm in the middle of redoing my bedroom western style too. I guess I lean towards the colorful using burnt distress oranges, turquoise, and Native American rugs along with leather. 🤠😻🐎

Yes the chandelier is really daring and need a cool space in a really huge house. It i pretty out there but if I had like a 5 bedroom home and I was going for a specific Bohemian statement. yes I WOULD HAVE the Chandelier in my home. This piece need lots and lots and lots of space to be appreciated.

I like to blend the 2 ideas a bit. I love colour, but am not thrilled with the crazy Crazy every colour in the crayon box look. And I can't stick to only neutrals, because, as I said I Love colour. My pallet is largely blues, teals & greens, for larger items and paints & textiles, and then sprinkle accent items like those you recommended, especially the rattan & natural fibers from the neutral pallet among my peacock-inspired colour scheme. It tones it down a bit, and if you are a renter & the landlord objects to sunset orange walls, you can still have Boho with a bit less drama by leaving the walls the neutral color it is probably already painted.

Great video. The neutral boho is more scandi and is often about buying new and following trends. True boho is a celebration of life which includes colour and imperfections
One of the amazing features of the Boho style, is that it's perfect for personalisation and upcycling! If you would like to transition into a more neutral style, you don't necessarily have to buy all new stuff! Any colourful item in wood, metal, ceramic and glass can easily be transformed with a couple of layers of paint. Sofas and chairs can be "neutralised" with slipcovers or layers of throws and blankets, and sideboards and tables can be covered by neutral-coloured table-cloths. Donate or sell items that don't spark joy anymore, and look for new items that inspire you. Take your time, and enjoy the journey! xx
Love this video! Seeing the colorful boho decor just really tells me that’s where my heart is. My home was done up with all fun colorful boho but somehow it felt a bit childish. I switched gears and went with a more grown up style of boho with some furniture pieces in matte black, shag type rugs in a deep rust, neutral beiges and creams, a little brown and a lot of natural accents like pampas grass, wicker, rattan, huge trees and palms with a lot of smaller plants. My kitchen is still a bit boho but it’s more of a danish hygge with all light colors like beige, tan and white. It all flows very well. My bathroom is kind of an Indonesian boho. It’s truly beautiful. It’s just so much fun to have each room with its own personality. Now I’m working on a third bedroom that I turned into a huge closet/makeup room. It was very glam with all black and white but I’ve been changing it to go with the rest of my boho theme. One day I’d love to have a 20 room home where I can decorate with all the styles snd colors of boho that I love so much.

White and lightwood furniture, plenty of plants , rattan and baskets and a light coloured textured rug yes. But with these very neutral background i would add a few shades of colour to bring out a little boho flavour. A green comfy couch with a few textured cushions. Not too many colours. But a bright jewel textured pouffe and colourful throw. A marriage between neutral and colour boho. How does it sound? Perfect!

I am 100% the colorful type although I often end up with neutral simply because I don't have the "eye" for decorating. I greatly appreciate people like you who can guide me - let me copy their ideas. I'm in love with the colourful chandelier, and had to google it right away. I'm planning on building a tiny house, and out of necessity, but also because I like it, going with modern farmhouse look (I know it's very outdated, but the practicality of black and white for opening space, barn doors, butcher block wood...) and combining that with splashes of color, patterns, plants and textures of boho to reflect my tastes and personality. I don't care how outdated that makes me look LOL
I think if you love a certain style and it makes you happy, it is never outdated! P.S., I live in a tiny house too, but not on whells.It is 16 x 24 with a loft-so maybe not "tiny" but really small.Perfect for me and my four pets(P.P.S make sure you have a TON of storage).
It's definitely not just for the young - discovering our fun and more relaxed spirit can occur later in life and release a whole new approach to self-expression through décor. Exciting!

I really like the bohemian decor! I'm wanting to do a colorful boho for the upcoming fall and winter months, for it seems more suitable. I think the neutral bohemian is more appropriate for the spring/ summer months. Tfs

I prefer the neutral style with pops of color like blue and turquoise. I also think I prefer my boho clothing style to be the same way as well. I keep playing with the idea of boho but haven’t committed to the style yet lol
Hey, I think your idea of a personalised boho style sounds absolutely lovely! And you know, very few people change their style overnight, it's most often a gradual transition. So why not change around the items that you have already, perhaps upcycle something or get a couple of new items, and kind of just experiment until you are more confident about what you really want. I've gone for beige, browns and blacks, mostly neutral, with a pop of emerald green for cushions, lots of plants, rattan tray table. I'm getting there slowly. Love the neutrals you picked, and the colourful items, hard to choose. I want a rattan rug next, got a shaggy furry one at minute, which is boho.

I am new to all of this. Though my style all of my life was like my own individual design. I love this neutral light COLOR. and I love the DEEP COLORFUL Bohemian, But this colorful neutral Just might trump the deeper I love them both. The colorful deep BOHO ,and the Neutral color BOHO.
Finding our own style is an everlasting journey, isn't it. As we change and grow as a person, our tastes and preferences will change, as well. I never saw this style. Awesome but this light Bohemian theme dose not work for me. However I am sure it works for many. Besides our style is constantly changing.

This video is fantastic and showed me that although I love neautral and my white ship lap walls,and always thought I was more of a minimalist who loved all white, I am actually attracted to the colorful interiors in your video (as long as they don't have too much stuff).So maybe I am a pops -of -color- boho-minimalist?) I am thinking to go with beige and rust color concept. I am so confused that should I add one more color blue? I have open kitchen to small living room. Having wood color cabinets and in living room light wood color dining table and work-desk. And having beige color sofa. Do you suggest me to add rust colored two seater ottoman or do you suggest to add 3rd color to it like blue? I just wish i could show pictures of my home! Your suggestions will really really help me! A neutral boho interior design style in a beige to rust colour scheme sounds absolutely lovely! I also love the idea of bringing in blue as a contrast colour on some of the details! I would suggest you keep the bigger items and surfaces in the neutrals, and introduce blue in the smaller details, like cushions, vases, lamps - or an ottoman, as you say. Just don't go overboard with the blue, as it's a very strong colour, and if not restrained, it will easily visually overtake the space. Oh, definitely! The easiest is to pick your one favourite colour and add small pops of that colour into your neutral scheme. Or pick two colours that are very close to each other on the colour wheel, for instance, blue and turquoise, and integrate these on smaller details, like artwork, cushions, a vase etc. But really, BOHO is a very personal style, and all colours are allowed. Go as neutral or colourful as you want, and overlap the styles to your hearts content! Also, read PM Johnston's comment on the subject, very good input! Take care, xx
Hi! Your video was super helpful, however, can you please help me. We just renovated our formal living room, we added a cement fireplace and black beams. I painted the fireplace wall a dark gray and the rest of the walls black. What colors do you think the sectional should be. I love boho!!! And I would love to design our formal living room that style. Should I change my wall color? What color would look good with black beams and a cement fireplace??
I actually like them both very much! In my own home, I've been through a lot of different styles through the years, and I decorated in the colourful Boho style a few years back, while I lived in Sweden. I went all in, and loved it!! :) Today, I'm personally leaning towards the neutral Boho style. Amongst other reasons, I believe that as I am an Interior Designer, and work with lots of colours, patterns and textures on a daily basis, it's nice to come home to a more neutral, calm and tranquil space, where my eyes and my soul can rest, and find new inspiration.
It would have been better if the speaker was behind the camera...and showed the decor in full screen.... Because we wanted to see the decor...not the vlogger .....

I do appreciate your feedback, and I'm very pleased to hear you liked the items I presented in the video. :) I spend a lot of time working on my videos, not only the research, preparations, and filming but also finding pictures and videos to underline my points, and really showcase the style and the items I talk about. Sometimes it's surprisingly hard to find suitable pictures and illustrations of sufficient resolution that actually look good enough on a full screen. If the resolution is low, split-screen works much better. However, I do always look for a high-quality b-roll, to have a greater diversity in my videos. I'm still quite new on the RUclips scene, and I guess it's a work in progress. This is why I appreciate ALL constructive feedback, and your advice is definitely on my list of things to consider when I create my videos. Take care, xx

White and lightwood furniture, plenty of plants , rattan and baskets and a light coloured textured rug yes. But with these very neutral background i would add a few shades of colour to bring out a little boho flavour. A green comfy couch with a few textured cushions. Not too many colours. But a bright jewel textured pouffe and colourful throw. A marriage between neutral and colour boho. How does it sound? Perfect!

I am 100% the colorful type although I often end up with neutral simply because I don't have the "eye" for decorating. I greatly appreciate people like you who can guide me - let me copy their ideas. İ love neutral boho style
I'm in love with the colourful chandelier, and had to google it right away. I'm planning on building a tiny house, and out of necessity, but also because I like it, going with modern farmhouse look (I know it's very outdated, but the practicality of black and white for opening space, barn doors, butcher block wood...) and combining that with splashes of color, patterns, plants and textures of boho to reflect my tastes and personality. I don't care how outdated that makes me look LOL
I think if you love a certain style and it makes you happy, it is never outdated! P.S., I live in a tiny house too, but not on whells.It is 16 x 24 with a loft-so maybe not "tiny" but really small.Perfect for me and my four pets(P.P.S make sure you have a TON of storage).

I prefer the neutral style with pops of color like blue and turquoise. I also think I prefer my boho clothing style to be the same way as well. I keep playing with the idea of boho but haven’t committed to the style yet lol
Hey, I think your idea of a personalised boho style sounds absolutely lovely! And you know, very few people change their style overnight, it's most often a gradual transition. So why not change around the items that you have already, perhaps upcycle something or get a couple of new items, and kind of just experiment until you are more confident about what you really want. I've gone for beige, browns and blacks, mostly neutral, with a pop of emerald green for cushions, lots of plants, rattan tray table. I'm getting there slowly. Love the neutrals you picked, and the colourful items, hard to choose. I want a rattan rug next, got a shaggy furry one at minute, which is boho.

I am new to all of this. Though my style all of my life was like my own individual design. I love this neutral light COLOR. and I love the DEEP COLORFUL Bohemian, But this colorful neutral Just might trump the deeper I love them both. The colorful deep BOHO ,and the Neutral color BOHO.
Finding our own style is an everlasting journey, isn't it. As we change and grow as a person, our tastes and preferences will change, as well. I love neutral boho style. I just moved to my first new home! Dream home!! And decorating it with neutral boho style. I am thinking to go with beige and rust color concept. I am so confused that should I add one more color blue?
I have open kitchen to small living room.
Having wood color cabinets and in living room light wood color dining table and work-desk.
And having beige color sofa.
Do you suggest me to add rust colored two seater ottoman or do you suggest to add 3rd color to it like blue?

A neutral boho interior design style in a beige to rust colour scheme sounds absolutely lovely! I also love the idea of bringing in blue as a contrast colour on some of the details! I would suggest you keep the bigger items and surfaces in the neutrals, and introduce blue in the smaller details, like cushions, vases, lamps - or an ottoman, as you say. Just don't go overboard with the blue, as it's a very strong colour, and if not restrained, it will easily visually overtake the space.

What about adding some color to the neutral boho? Which colors would you add so it wouldn't be overdone?
Oh, definitely! The easiest is to pick your one favourite colour and add small pops of that colour into your neutral scheme. Or pick two colours that are very close to each other on the colour wheel, for instance, blue and turquoise, and integrate these on smaller details, like artwork, cushions, a vase etc. But really, BOHO is a very personal style, and all colours are allowed. Go as neutral or colourful as you want, and overlap the styles to your hearts content! Also, read PM Johnston's comment on the subject, very good input! Take care, xx

Hi! Your video was super helpful, however, can you please help me. We just renovated our formal living room, we added a cement fireplace and black beams. I painted the fireplace wall a dark gray and the rest of the walls black. What colors do you think the sectional should be. I love boho!!! And I would love to design our formal living room that style. Should I change my wall color? What color would look good with black beams and a cement fireplace??

I actually like them both very much! In my own home, I've been through a lot of different styles through the years, and I decorated in the colourful Boho style a few years back, while I lived in Sweden. I went all in, and loved it!! :) Today, I'm personally leaning towards the neutral Boho style. Amongst other reasons, I believe that as I am an Interior Designer, and work with lots of colours, patterns and textures on a daily basis, it's nice to come home to a more neutral, calm and tranquil space, where my eyes and my soul can rest, and find new inspiration.

I spend a lot of time working on my videos, not only the research, preparations, and filming but also finding pictures and videos to underline my points, and really showcase the style and the items I talk about. Sometimes it's surprisingly hard to find suitable pictures and illustrations of sufficient resolution that actually look good enough on a full screen. If the resolution is low, split-screen works much better. However, I do always look for a high-quality b-roll, to have a greater diversity in my videos.
I'm still quite new on the RUclips scene, and I guess it's a work in progress. This is why I appreciate ALL constructive feedback, and your advice is definitely on my list of things to consider when I create my videos. Take care, xx
