As much as I do enjoy Friday Night Paper fight. I have been supremely enjoying all this other magic content like this and EDSC. Great content and I look forward to more good stuff this year!
Excellent, as always. Thank you. I’m so glad that after speaking about Nelson joining in the last showdown comments, I feel like I have spoken this into existence. I’m so glad to have Nelson on the show. Lands and game loses and all, I was behind you all the way. Glad you got there in game three. 😁
Interesting line with the Mystical Tutor at 18:20, I checked the list and Nelson does have Expressive Iteration. I feel I'd maybe grab that over the Chart a Course? Digs deeper, you're up a card, and doesn't have the Brainstorm problem as mentioned.
Thanks for the matches, it was great to watch them ! Can't wait for more guests to be on the show. Wheeler might be the premiere land pilot of the format but Nelly is the premiere trombone player of North 100 !
Wonderful, just wonderful. I mean, the games were totally one-sided! But who gives a damn. Nelly and Wheeler goofing around, demonstrating "the Gathering" of magic is what we all need.
I'd be curious to hear the reasoning for using Seasons Past + Mystical Tutor to recur Time Walk, rather than a creature-based loop, like Thassa, Deep Dwelling + Eternal Witness (+ Spellseeker). Is there something in the deck I'm not seeing that makes setting up the spell-based version of the combo easier than working with creatures? Or is it just a case of personal preference or "cards I have vs cards I don't"?
Spellseeker is a lot of points and thassa? I’ll admit I didn’t consider it but might be ok. Would need to check how well it plays with the rest of the deck. Mostly just wanted to show off the seasons past loop as part of the history of the ug walks archetype
@@nelsonsalahub yeah it's definitely cool to see a Seasons Past mentioned on camera, I'm not sure I've even thought about the card since... PT Shadows? Maybe? Definitely before I even knew that Highlander existed.
Correction; you gotta run more spells - so you can cast more spells! Can’t cast a land, lands are bad! Won’t catch me with more than 30 of em! Hell, 28’s a swell number! … I’m only half joking is the problem. I have a problem. Somebody help
I love Showdown, but one thing I think could make it better is if we could get information on cards in hand. Maybe in the overlay, the card viewer gets moved to over the logo, and doesn't stick around for too long. Then under each player it lists cards in hand. I'm sure the logistics would be difficult, maybe use the draft cams to record the information, but don't actually use the footage? I'm not a producer, so I don't know how those logistics could be worked out, but as a viewer knowing cards in hand would be nice.
Sad to see Serge get relegated from the league, but I guess it was inevitable. I hope he does well in the minors and makes his way back up soon!
Wait what? Context please!
@@zaneghiskhan Serge didn't score enough points over the season and now he needs to do some soul-searching, maybe recruit better decks

I heard he got red-carded for Stifling
@@heartofgoldfish did he answer correctly when asked if it was in his deck? Because of not that ought to be a military execution.
"I'd like to cast Time Walk, and I'll get an oil counter on my Mercurial Spelldancer."
God I love this format.
An iconic play pattern for sure
as one does
My favourite part about this format is that you play with power 9 but you get to care about half the rares in standard
Wheeler's PTSD from the double stifle a while back continues to be the best bit on North 100 Showdown. Please never stop being amazing.
In what episode did this happen?

Thank you very much for showcasing the reanimator list!! Means a lot to me :)
THE Connor H?! Congrats on the wins!
That deck is sweet. Glad to see it. Congrats on the win.
Getting big names like Nelson on the show now? Great to see!
Now that I've watched this episode, I can't wait for the Nelson/Serge showdown.
Lord knows I love wheeler, but I would click on that video with unseen speed.
Quick! Drop everything and watch the new episode of North 100 showdown!
Yeah that's about right
that intro was so smooth, someone get these lads medals
Nelson is really representing the luck I have playing Gladiator in these first two games.

Always happy to see Nelson play Highlander!
This is the only place I see this format I’m typically a cedh player but this format is so much fun to watch
Forest seems pretty powerful. Nelson did a lot better when he drew them.
This is awesome! Can't wait to see who else will make an appearance!

Nelly and Wheeler have such good chemistry, and it's different enough from Wheeler and Surge's chemistry that it doesn't feel same-y.
Love seeing “new” people on this Canlander Throwdown. More Nelson, please, and as many guests as you can get
Please more North100 anything! Love this content and the people 😄
Lets go I always like seeing what nelson brings to the table
Glad to see Nelson!
27:45 this is the exact melody I think of whenever I hear “tropical island” as well
I so look forward to new episodes of this show. thanks ya’ll
While I'm saddened that Serge got sent to the Shadow Realm for his bad streak in North 100 Showdown, Nelly is a welcome addition.
Five minutes in and I already am loving the vibe that Nelly is bringing to the sho. w
I appreciate nelly! Must be the best mtg opponent you could get: funny, kind and knowledgeable :-)
Thanks for the video!
Nelson with the James Brown and Fela Kuti reference, I love it lol
that was awesome! I hope wheeler and nelly didn't hate it. looking forward to more!
34:12 Every Canlander player has imitated the "no no no wait wait wait" Punisher Meme at least one time in it's life😂
Delightful as always!
Good to see you Nelly swing by more 🎉
When Nelson said he was playing Timewalk I prepared for one of them playing and the other watching. Plot twist.
26:36 Gotta fetch 'em all, gotta fetch 'em all!
I felt those two games deep in my soul.
Paul, singing a sea shanty: "Blow, boys, blow. Hit, him, again. Blow, boys, blow, now. Deliver another again."
Oh wow! This is a fun surprise
serge was losing so often he was kicked out of north100 crew
sad
Connor delivering freedom to the Canlander NC's 🦅
Love Serge, but love to see Nelson too! Adding more players is always a + in my book.
Happy to see Nelly on the show :)
NELLLYYYYY THROOOWDOWWWN!
Wheeler canlander content is the best...
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE NORTH 100 PODCAST WHEELER. YOUR LAST EPISODE WAS IN FEBRUARY
That was the tradeoff, every time he smokes someone in showdown he gets uninvited from the next podcast episode
Unfortunate that Nelson consumed Serge's life-essence but very nice to see him play
MY BOY!
O no surge was beat so bad he turned into Nelson
Nelson!
What happened to the Serge. Is he secret? Is he safe?
Serge is saving up his energy and training to get revenge on the tyrant Wheeler (or so I assume this is how the story goes)
@@snowcookiemedia It's the evil Benjamin wHEELer. D:

NNNNNEEELLLLLYYYYYYY
I would pay real money for a painting of Graham beating up Wheeler in a back alley with hooded men and Paul
Nelly hype!
Woooo Nelson!
So I recognize the pose nelson is doing but is Wheeler doing like Vega or something? Claw?
Bro I can't rip unmarked grave/persist as 4 of's in 60 cards, and Wheeler's just out here in a better gaming chair lmao.
Love the shirt Nelly
yeah but what brass instruments is Nelly playing? gotta ask the real questions here
Wow! I am slow, up 14mins already...
It’s weird how this episode doesn’t start until 27 minutes in. Is that just me?
Are yearly championships not hosted by LRR anymore?
The 2022 championship is scheduled for Sunday, April 16th, featuring broadcast + commentary via LRR
I’m so glad to hear that, and I’m looking forward to it. Thank you.
Nelson missed lethal with the Minsc & Boo. Could have attacked with Hullbreacher for 4 (with exalted) and then sacced it for 4 to face
More Nelson.
As a huge Ben wheeler fan, I'm very happy to see another ben wheeler slam dunks in canlander episode.
omg nelly!
FRESH MEAT!
Interestingly unmarked grave into archon into persist is entirely mh2 cards
What ever happened to the other guy that played reanimator WAY back when you guys first started Canadian Highlander

oh shit hi nelly!
More Nelson... less mana screw!!!

Serge looks different.
So, in the last game, why didn't Wheeler just hold up the Fury for interaction during Nelly's turn? Just flash it in to blank the MnB uptick
Fury and Grief don't have flash
Poor Nelson....
