How quickly can they do the Ike Gauntlet? With the short wheel base, would they make it up Goldmine Hill? Can they handle Moab? Get a set of K02s on them and let us know what we are all obviously wanting to know. I'm not buying until Mr. Truck gives his brutally honest thoughts.
Great review but several bits of information are missing. Is it faster than a Ford Fiesta ST? What is it's breakover and departure angles? What's it payload capacity and trailer towing capacity? Come on guys. Lol
1. You’re wrong on the bird pricing 2. No mention of the razer’s crazy sensitive brakes? 3. Bird and lime both have multiple different models of scooters in Denver 4. No mention of the lime’s solid tires, making a rough ride? 5. Lyft has their scooters maintained by dedicated lyft employees unlike lime and bird 6. Uh how did you miss the underglow on the Segway scooter? Booo.
Solid rubber wheels. Denver Officials were thoughtful when requiring this so when you ride down the Cherry Creek bike path "needle park" you can not get any flats from all the used needles.
Used Lime in St. Louis this summer and had a blast. These things are fun and a great way to get around. Got one moving 20+ downhill. Had one with a Ricky throttle as well. Personally I liked that. It worked like cruise control :)
I purchased a bird / m365 and its amazing. Loaded some custom firmware, unlocked some additional power. Easy to obtain replacement parts. The brake can be helped with the app, you can enable max regen / one pedal driving (real one pedal driving, no brake required)
What about the TFL Unfiltered Buddy Test? You, a buddy, a special guest, and a cameraman all team test each scooter. Just leave room for the hula girl.
I don't know if you already figured out or not, but the "sticky" throttle is because of the rubber handle grip is too tightly pressed on. If you move it with just a tiny bit, the throttle will move freely.
I've got a whole bunch of these things in my shed. My neighbor just gave me 4 or 5 of these. At least I know people pay money to rent these things. On my way to being a millionaire.
Keep riding a scooter if you enjoy it. Too many people these days are so worried about what people think that they don't even do things they enjoy. I respect that Tommy.
Great video! There is a lot of resistance to these due to safety concerns. After 10 uses the scooter companies should send a free helmet to the user. Introducing electric transportation in any form is very important.
You guys need to get on some Dualtron scooters, the super fast, ultra powerful, kinda heavy mobile machines. A lot of then go fast enough to keep up with cars in the city. Get a dualtron thunder and take off with dual motor mode, feels like a Tesla model S take off
Great video but the companies keep changing their prices and updating their rentals. Bird is currently 29 cents per minute in Salt Lake City (Sept 2019). Lime WAS 10 cents a minute in Austin last year but they raised their rates. I was in Austin last week and there are TONS of scooters to rent, but most are badly worn, and there's so much traffic it's hard to feel save. I did see a couple of newer Limes that were really nice. I'd like to know more about weekly or monthly rentals.
Scooters & Bikes were stripped and dumped in St. Louis .... found 100 stripped in a warehouse, 50 dumped in the river and dozens more in alleys. Interesting to know more information about these ride shares. Safety, stability & ranges .... it always looks good on paper, flounders in practice.
The sticky throttle is usually just the right grip pushed over to the left just a bit too much and it rubs against the throttle causing it to get stuck. Just a bit of a pull outwards will fix it instantly. Lyft and Bird use the Xiaomi M365 which I feel sets the standard and is still the best model overall. I own one of these and it almost completely out performs the rental units in performance since it hasn't been abused. Top speed is 15.5.Mph and the regenerative front brake along with the rear disk brake works really well. Good video guys. Bird has a new "Zero" model which you should track down and do a review on. Kind of built like a tank.
I was on a bird scooter the other day in San Antonio TX and it was pretty cool and fun at the same time. They have lime and razor. Obviously have a drivers license and have had one for 2 1/2 years.
I bought a Bird and really like it . I also got a seat from Segway and it's great for getting around quickly . I'm so glad I didn't get a Razor ..I wanted the model with the seat but, they look more like a kids scooter .
The first Bird scooter (and Lyft) is an M365 by Xiaomi. It has a disk brake on the back **and** an electronic brake on the front wheel, they are both activated when you pull the brake lever. I'm not sure why the stopping distance was so bad it should be about half that. I guess they are not being maintained well, so the disk brake isn't working as it should be. The second Bird is also made by Xiaomi as they own Segway, it's a cheaper model.
I have the xiaomi m365 which is the same as the Lyft scooter and I love it I live were there is lime s scooters I also beat them lol but my scooter has a software update for better horsepower and topspeed.
The Bird & lift e-scooters is made by Xiaomi & its originally a Xiaomi m365 e-scooter & I have one for personal commuting, and I'd say it is the best E-scooter there so far, in terms of performance & reliability, until the boosted Rev & The Ninebot Kickscooter MAX is out in the market next month (July).
Never cared to rent one when downtown, but for some reason I watched the entire video. Well done, kinda liked this different video of a way to get around.
Ha, I wasn't expecting to see Denver here!! I used to commute on that bike trail along the river every day! Although my favorite was the Lyft scooters, I never had a good experience on the Limes. Since this video, both Bird, Lyft, and newcomer Spin have moved to variants of the Segway-Ninebot model you showed here, as apparently Xiaomi (who made the previous Bird and Lyft scooters) didn't want them using their scooters for ridesharing. I honestly like the Segway models even more, though. While I do miss the cushiony tires of the Xiaomi models, the Segway-Ninebot ones are better performers all-around, and when the companies don't cover them with control boxes (Spin doesn't), there is in fact a speedometer. Since I commute on one every day (from the RiNo area now instead of from the RTD station at Decatur), I ended up ordering a Segway-Ninebot ES4-the highest-end model in that family-for myself. It arrives in a few days, and apparently I'm passing the time by watching videos about more scooters… and knowing way too much about them, apparently. LOL
@@EDISONTECH Ha… what timing. If you're talking about the headlight causing the scooter to slow down, mine started having that problem this morning. Not sure what my repair options are, besides waiting weeks for it to ship back to Ninebot and then more weeks for it to get back to me. It took about 2 weeks to arrive after I first ordered it, and I don't want to do that wait again. In hindsight, maybe I should've just waited and bought the MAX instead.
These things are such a hazard on Denver's sidewalks. I was in the city in late October 2018 and found most scooter operators didn't pay attention to their surroundings. Riding them on the sidewalks is a stupid requirement for the often busy LODO/ RINO area
The segway one is a ES4 and speed is limited. It is supposed to do 19mph and because it use solid tire and cheap rear brake, it last long without any maintenance and worry free from puncture. I got one for my self and yes on regular road feels bumpy and actually the brake is the worst out of the others with disc brake...
Thanks for the review. i would have liked a breakdown and comparison of the over values as well. You mentioned prices throughout, but I would have liked some sort of comparison and or 'winner' from a price perspective.
Which scooter holds up best in the garbage truck? That could be the topic of a review video. The garbage truck is an excellent test platform for scooters, furniture and appliances.
very dangerous considering the breaking distance. it's more dangerous for pedestrians than for the rider. They really need to improve the breaks or otherwise the city would definitely ban them
Ive only tried the lime and it always shows the battery percentage of all of them nearby. My city wants only pedestrians to walk on the sidewalk and scooters on the road like a bike. Also it is kinda scary going top speed, I thought I'd hit a pothole and topple over
Wow that's interesting here in California we don't have to add our drivers license to rent one of those share Ride Scooters, we have the same scooters all except the razor and ours are rear-wheel-drive you can do a wheelie plus ours top out at 20 miles an hour the same three companies
Nice review but I think it was missing a final breakdown of all the prices. I remember one was $1/per minute which seems insane, especially considering one of the others was $1/30 minutes.
Be wary of Bolt scooters. They won't let you end your ride if their GPS thinks you're not in a good place, but GPS just isn't that precise and it's a hassle all around.
2 things. the Lime had written on it that its not to be ridden on sidewalks and the roadway (contrary to Denver regulations) and you guys were riding the scooters at max speed during the braking test..is that the "normal" speed that these are ridden at? good review and I wonder if this is something that other municipalities will also do...
20 minute video and you weren't able to identify that 2 of 5 scooters are Xiaomi Mi M365 scooters, which are also the most popular personal/retail scooters on the market. The 2nd Bird you find was the nearly as popular Segway Ninebot ES2 scooter and even gave you a hint with the Segway sticker. So much for "scooter aficionado" :-P Drawing comparisons to the retail versions of these scooters would be uesful for viewers who don't live in Denver or another town similarly blanketed by rentals, as well as helping Denver-type residents figure out if they want to rent or buy. A more structured comparison (like using the same speed for stopping tests), comparing tire sizes and types (the Segway/Bird scooter has solid tires), and testing speed across all of them would be useful. There are multiple types of Lime scooters in Denver as well.
You can be a jeep brother and still love scooters. The fun had on a lime speeding down the streets of LA is almost as fun as running through the sand in the desert in my Jeep
The Segways always have loose handlebars and, I think, are kinda junk. All the scooters tested, except the Razor, have front and rear breaks, they're just both controlled with one handle
Limes and birds are all around my college I ride them multiple times almost everyday. Nothing about this video was 100% correct as these scooters are out in the public parts of them break or get worsened. For example the brakes on the “different” (called the bird zero line also uses this type of scooter) are usually the worst brakes of the bunch, but also tend to have the best speed which is the exact opposite of what they said. You can’t really judge anything unless it’s new. And I’ve used these scooters before where they still of the plastic covering parts of it because they were just dropped off that day.
Goodish review except with regard to the bird m365 and the lyfe m365 you may well have found the bird m365 better at braking than the lyfe or vis versa. The thing is it may just have been down to poor maintenance as to why the lyfe took so long to stop, but we will never know. I still use a kick scooter and that is very poor when it comes to stopping, it's also very poor on starting as well as my legs are not the fittest. But in an emergency at around 10 mph you brake hard and jump off at the last little bit, so you are not likely to hit anything unless you are not paying attention to what you are doing as you ride.
Towing capabilities
I live in a rural area and I still watched this whole video, very interesting to learn about these things.
Same, I got like 90% though completely entertained until I realized I’ll never use one lol watched the whole thing anyways
draginator6 yeah same here living in a shithole in the middle of nowhere. Couldnt even use my old skateboard
Great review but several bits of information are missing. Is it faster than a Ford Fiesta ST? What is it's breakover and departure angles? What's it payload capacity and trailer towing capacity? Come on guys. Lol
Todd Wright and where’s the rev battle?
As a verified line scooter charger, I have to say those scooters are heavy when I lifted them into my car.
I do love that they call you "juicers". Such a clever pun that the other brands can't use!
David Olson they dont fold !!!!!
Nathen and Andre do a drag race on the next episode
1. You’re wrong on the bird pricing
2. No mention of the razer’s crazy sensitive brakes?

5. Lyft has their scooters maintained by dedicated lyft employees unlike lime and bird

cheapo911 the pricing is different per area. In Downtown Tampa it’s 29 cents a minute
Chill hater
TROLL...
5:21 I would have launched it unmanned to see how far it would go 😂
Solid rubber wheels. Denver Officials were thoughtful when requiring this so when you ride down the Cherry Creek bike path "needle park" you can not get any flats from all the used needles.

Those razor e300 scooters are great for high power scooter mods, since the frame is built overly tough for their specs
You didn't talk about torque steer on the scooters with front-wheel drive 😂🤣
😂😂😂 no vtec either
I own the Xiaomi M365 (The scooter BIRD claimed to themselves) and it is great for short trips around town
I purchased a bird / m365 and its amazing. Loaded some custom firmware, unlocked some additional power. Easy to obtain replacement parts. The brake can be helped with the app, you can enable max regen / one pedal driving (real one pedal driving, no brake required)
Love the scooter reviews. Keep it up because there are lots of different types. Excellent show.
Never expected this kind of content on this channel lol
Don't worry it'll be split out into TFLSidewalk soon.
such a fun and light hearted video
thank you guys
What about the TFL Unfiltered Buddy Test? You, a buddy, a special guest, and a cameraman all team test each scooter. Just leave room for the hula girl.
I don't know if you already figured out or not, but the "sticky" throttle is because of the rubber handle grip is too tightly pressed on. If you move it with just a tiny bit, the throttle will move freely.
Do any of them have launch control
Great test... could you possibly test electric bikes some time?
If you can find any
NO!
maybe its only in Denver but in so cal for lime its 1 dollars to unlock 15 cents per min
Thanks for giving the deck to handle bar measurements, they were really useful. Couldn’t find them anywhere else.
I've got a whole bunch of these things in my shed. My neighbor just gave me 4 or 5 of these. At least I know people pay money to rent these things. On my way to being a millionaire.
My guess is that most stuff in the future will have electric engines in them, be it scooters or trucks
Keep riding a scooter if you enjoy it. Too many people these days are so worried about what people think that they don't even do things they enjoy. I respect that Tommy.
Now you guy's need to put a TFL Scooter patch on your jackets!😎
Great video! There is a lot of resistance to these due to safety concerns. After 10 uses the scooter companies should send a free helmet to the user. Introducing electric transportation in any form is very important.
Excellent idea adding this to your channel. Loved the side by side real world comparison.
Now i want one!

Love that y'all reviewed these! I was always curious about the different types of scooters. Thanks for doing this review!
It's kind of funny how scooters have disk brakes, yet some cars today still have drum brakes.
NoNegotiations fact 😂some car manufacturers are scabby cunts 😂
Great timing! Tried my first one the day before u posted this and now I want to try the others too!
I'm a big dude and was skeptical about riding these e-scooter. But I gotta be honest they are fun and time saving.
would love one once i escape PA. no sidewalks, no shoulders to the road, ppl who resent anyone not in a car . . .
take care. stay safe.☮

As silly as scooters are i so much prefer these to downtown being filled with those stupid bikes.
The review that everyone didn't know they needed.
I have the xiaomi m365 which is the same as the Lyft scooter and I love it I live were there is lime s scooters I also beat them lol but my scooter has a software update for better horsepower and topspeed.
This dude is my grandson and hes a lamo, but i love him. Asthma, and his allergies made him such a dork. I blame my smoking.
Never expected a video like this from TFL

Jacob Pritchett hey I am in the Denver area too. I don’t recommend the es4 because if you google it, it has a headlight issue.
EDISONTECH Ha… Your timing is crazy. Mine just started having that this morning. Have to leave the light off now apparently or else I’ll lose speed.
@@EDISONTECH Ha… what timing. If you're talking about the headlight causing the scooter to slow down, mine started having that problem this morning. Please tell me they are not CVT scooters!!!! 😂
Oh my god!! 🤣
bouke Kalkwijk have you ever heard the word SARCASM! Sounds like you haven’t! SMH
😂😂😂😂 not even dsg lmao
I'd like to see the Razor on Gold Mine Hill.
the newer versions of the bird/lime have speedometers on them
I tried Lime and Dott back in Paris, really enjoyable..
Thanks for the review. i would have liked a breakdown and comparison of the over values as well. You mentioned prices throughout, but I would have liked some sort of comparison and or 'winner' from a price perspective.
Credit card info and DL scanned in to cell phone. What a great idea!!!
Which scooter holds up best in the garbage truck? That could be the topic of a review video. The garbage truck is an excellent test platform for scooters, furniture and appliances.
Forgot to add the Segway ES2 by spin
very dangerous considering the breaking distance. it's more dangerous for pedestrians than for the rider. They really need to improve the breaks or otherwise the city would definitely ban them
if youre paying for it, its not sharing
Based on what logic?
Sharing != Free.
Roommates share a house but they pay for it.
I aint paying to ride it at all 😂
Love this video!!
Ive only tried the lime and it always shows the battery percentage of all of them nearby. My city wants only pedestrians to walk on the sidewalk and scooters on the road like a bike. Also it is kinda scary going top speed, I thought I'd hit a pothole and topple over

Do a video on scooter charging contracts comparing which is the best to your wallet.
How can they not have identification if you need both a drivers license and a credit card to rent one !?!?
I like charts even though it may be a bore.
Test the power scooter's. So far electric scooter Guide is the only one doing tests. When you measure the deck only measure useable areas.
20 minute video and you weren't able to identify that 2 of 5 scooters are Xiaomi Mi M365 scooters, which are also the most popular personal/retail scooters on the market. There are multiple types of Lime scooters in Denver as well.
Was expecting more on the off road parts haha
perhaps it would have been interesting to compare braking numbers with each of you riding to see the difference.
5:40 seems insane that you can operate the throttle while not on board. There should be federal regulation and/or industry safety standard for this!
I was there in summer and i felt like i didn't even seen one around, did they just become popular?
I would love to see electric mopeds tested, inexpensive like ones. I am move afraid of these.
Just double check bc I thought I was tripping but Bird scooters are def NOT by mile and in fact are also .15 per min
so this is what the south park episode was talking about
I’ve ridden Lime Electric scooters they’re really fun
Tommy is the Doug DeMuro of scooters
I decided to go with a scooter with full suspension, front and rear brakes, and a top speed much faster than these (25mph). Check out the Zero 9.
Shouldn't this technically be TFL Offroad? ;) I'd love to see Stephen take on into his mud bog! LOL!
Lol..im 63,,and i rode a zero 10x..im 235 lbs and it flys me like im 135 lbs...amazing scooter.
I think there should be helmet sensors on these things, and the electric motor shouldn't kick in till you put your helmet on.
Tommy, I really respected you until you called yourself a scooter aficionado. So sad and I thought we were Jeep brothers forever.
You can be a jeep brother and still love scooters. The fun had on a lime speeding down the streets of LA is almost as fun as running through the sand in the desert in my Jeep
Should've nixed the Lyft scooter (since it's essentially a Bird) and reviewed a Spin scooter (also in Denver and just acquired by Ford)!
2018 E Scooter shootout. New and improved graphics.
yeah, because nobody could take a picture of the scooter all parked nice and neat, and then throw it in the river...
The Segways always have loose handlebars and, I think, are kinda junk. All the scooters tested, except the Razor, have front and rear breaks, they're just both controlled with one handle

Glad someone made this.
Great video!.. just a question though,., what brand is the lime scooter ? Is it Segway?
Goodish review except with regard to the bird m365 and the lyfe m365 you may well have found the bird m365 better at braking than the lyfe or vis versa.
The thing is it may just have been down to poor maintenance as to why the lyfe took so long to stop, but we will never know.
Also if doing a stop test it would make more sense to use the same speed for all scooters, so you would take the slowest and use that as the bench mark.
You also need to take into account weight.
Walking is a a great way to get around
Lol they got the interns to test scooters
good review....but gotta keep it brief. 20mins is too long when sitting at your computer to watch
In your opinion what would be a best buy for e scooter ,thanks
