That Supertramp breakfast in America album is amazing as well!! And fun fact they recorded that album in the same studio and at the same time that Fleetwood Mac recorded Tusk, the album after Rumours. At the Village Recorder studios in Los Angeles in 1978/1979.

If you enjoyed "Breakfast in America," I would suggest that you listen to an earlier album of theirs: "Crime of the Century." It has much more of a rock vibe, less commercial -- a totally different sound. The keyboard intro to "Bloody Well Right" is particularly something not to be missed.

I loved watching you react to this album. Fleetwood Mac is one of my all time favorite groups. I was born in 1972 and grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac and great 70's and 80's music. I'm subscribed to your channel, but I'm handicapped and have a very limited income so I'm not in a position to contribute money to reaction channels, but I do love watching reaction videos. Watching how much joy this album brought you, really made my day. And considering how much you said you love acoustic guitar (and how much you love 70's music), I have a great album for you to react to that I think you'll absolutely love. It's Steve Miller band's greatest hits 74- 78. Here's a RUclips link to it, please give it a listen(and do a reaction to it), I guarantee you'll love it.

You have a very odd definition of it if you think everyone thinks of him as an all time great drummer. OTOH, as a bassist who knows LOTS of drummers, I hear his name and some other names you wouldn't normally hear as top 10 all time drummers (Steve Gadd, Bernard Purdie, Liberty DeVito to name a few).
I think lots of people think of him as a "very good drummer," but I think it's rare, outside of drummers and bassists, you hear Fleetwood mentioned in a top 10 all time list.

Unlike most bands which have an easily recognizable sound in every song, Fleetwood Mac had so many individual talents that they could make an album like Rumours...a tapestry of songs with different lead singers, different songwriters, different blending of voices... the overall impression when we heard the album back in the 70s was to love the songs individually, but even more...to be blown away by the variety of styles & sounds within one album. It's part of the reason this album has not lost any popularity almost 50 years later.

Mick Fleetwood’s drumming on Dreams is so “in the pocket” - the snare drum strikes are a tiny fraction BEHIND the beats of each measure, which helps give the song its dreamy, drowsy quality.
Fleetwood isn’t a fancy drummer, but his “feel” on this song shows that he knows EXACTLY what he’s doing. Same for John McVie on bass. They ALL did.
Five seasoned pros, 3 great songwriters, 3 unique voices, a totally pro rhythm section, and the guitar wizardry of Lindsay Buckingham. We’re so lucky to have a record (literally) of their amazing collaboration.

Rumours is one of those rare albums that I consider to be perfect. Like The Beatles' Abbey Road and The Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers. There are plenty of albums that don't have any bad or weak songs, but these go way beyond that.
This album was recorded during a time personal turmoil for everyone in the band. vocalist Stevie Nicks and vocalist/guitarist Lindsay Buckingham were at the end of a long standing relationship, vocalist/keyboardist Christine McVie and bassist John McVie were in the middle of a divorce. drummer Mick Fleetwood was also going through a divorce AND was having an affair with Stevie Nicks. This album documents all that with some of the most honest and emotional songwriting I've ever heard.
Their previous album, simply titled Fleetwood Mac (theit second album to have that name) features great songs as well.
I'm enjoying your reactions, so please keep them coming.

I love your enthusiasm in Music of all kinds, you are clearly a fan of K-pop but unlike many others who love that genre you are not afraid to step out of it and explore the wider world of rock music and you really seem to be enjoying the experience. For those of us who listened to these albums when they were first released it is such a delight to see that they still stand up with a younger audience. Its a validation for us that they were as good as we have always thought they were. Hopefully you are also reaching some people of your own age too and are able to spread the word about great music that must never be allowed to fade away. Another thing to note while reading the lyrics to these songs: Every person in the group were in relationships which were breaking apart during the making of this album. So you get lines like _Players only love you when they're playing_ and _You can go your own way._ Those lyrics are literally one song-writer throwing snide remarks at someone else in the band. It's pretty amazing that they finished the album and the tour after it.
Although the song _"Songbird"_ is Christie McVie writing and singing to her new boyfriend - while that's her ex-husband over there playing the bass guitar. Two great women singers in one band.

Here in the 2020's it's hard to convey just how big albums like _"Rumours"_ and _"Hotel California"_ were back in the 1970's. They would stay in the top-10 selling albums for *months,* and that's while they're up against serious competition. The people on the cover are Mick Fleetwood (drummer) and Stevie Nicks (who is writer and singer of the song _"Dreams"_ ). The "Mac" the the group's name is from John McVie, who is the bass player. Everyone in this band was massively talented, and they put a major amount of detailed work into making this album.
You may have also heard _"Dreams"_ because of a popular meme back in 2020 where there's the guy taking a selfie of himself skateboarding to work and mime-singing to the song while drinking a bottle of cranberry juice. Look for youtube videos that match "Guy Skateboarding Fleetwood Mac cranberry". That was also huge, but for just a few weeks... 🙂

Smooth bangers. Every song tastefully crafted and executed. They get in the pocket and stay in the pocket each and every time. It's funny that the backstory behind each song is almost as sensational as the music itself. Drugs, affairs, breakups, scandals galore, and they made one of the best selling masterpieces of all time in the midst of it all. And they lived to tell about it.

Part 2 will start with a track that, if you've ever watched the British coverage of Formula 1 racing, you will instantly recognise. There's a reason why this is Fleetwood Mac's best selling album to date, it's packed with absolute gems and for a band that was living on cocaine, fumes and varying mutual animosities, the song writing is visceral, emotionally raw and totally compelling, that it turned out so good is testament to the individuals and their dedication to the whole over the one. In the soft rock genre, this is the touchstone that everyone else has to meet and, so far, no-one else has, it is quite simply a masterpiece of musical and lyrical majesty.

in the summer of '84 I drove from CA to Orcas Island and back. I had this tape in the player for the great majority of the trip and never got tired of hearing it. I still am not tired of hearing it. As each song comes on they grab me and I have to start bopping!

At about the 37 minute mark - I had the exact same experience in high school (late 70s, early 80s) when I first started listening to The Beatles, and realized how many of the amazing songs I'd loved my entire life all came from this one band.
It's incredible to see someone else have that same experience.

Thanks, Verdy, you make me feel like I'm hearing this album for the first time. It is partly to do with the fact that I always concentrate on the lyrics for the verbal poetry and the song's meaning. But you respond to the sound of the instruments and orchestration, Verdy. That is your gift to me and everyone else who is tuning in...
