Chari, I share the same attitude about sewing, stitching, and crafting in general. I think they should be activities that are a source of pleasure or joy and not a source of stress. You do lovely work and a simple finish allows your stitching to shine.
The easiest way to explain is Aida you can see squares and holes, Lugana is an evenweave fabric so you have to count the threads of the fabric. The floss I have like Colour & Cotton, Weeks Dye Works, and Classic Colorworks are considered overdyed floss. They have variegation in the color, DMC does not. The Fat Quarter Shop actually did some Stitchy Talk videos not too long ago talking about fabric, they have an entire video on Aida, Evenweave, and Linen. They also have a video on floss. Here is a link to the playlist. I think watching these where Kimberly shows each item and explains it will be much more helpful than me trying to explain it here. ruclips.net/p/PLPwfsUojVe-cu-NL9TySCdoVAAxXx-thz
Chari, I am so enjoying your floss tube videos. I love to stitch smalls too and love to see what you are doing. Those little crochet dolls were just adorable. Your sister did an awesome job. Can’t wait for your next video. Keep them coming.
Great floss tube episode! Love the witch and pirate your sister made. Also - love the pumpkin jingle bells - so cute. Love all of your stitches. I just finished my Valentine Quaker and am so happy with it. Have a great week!
So glad I found your channel!! Love your projects ❤❤ And a weenie dog....yes!! We have one (not full blooded...dachshund/rat terrior mix) & we used to have Copper up until a couple years ago. I am stitching a memorial piece for him that I show on my channel. I'm in the process of getting all the weenie dog patterns by plum street done!! They are so fun! ❤
Oh yay! Love my weenie dog! I will have to go check out your memorial piece. Our first dog Penny passed away in August 2019. I never thought about stitching something for her but we have many drawings of her that we commissioned when going to a comic book convention for many years in Charlotte. I have one weenie dog pattern from plum street but have not yet stitched it.
Love your hoops!! I too display all my enamel pins but never thought to use hoops! Love being able to leave the backs on them!! You've inspired me to change my system!! Enjoying your videos and I'm trying to get caught up on your new flosstubes!!!! ❤
Thank You! Yes I love that the backs stay with the pins, it was a game changer for me. Thanks so much for watching! Lucky for you I don't have too many flosstube videos yet so you are sure to catch up quickly. 😁
I was wondering about the hoops, too. That is such a good way to store pins and needle minders. I'll have to make a couple for me and my son. There are so many cute finishes! I'll have to go check out the freebies. I'm always up for a small freebie! I can't wait to see finishing videos! I would like to try different ways of finishing. Happy stitching!
I joined in the SAL. That is where I found you. I really enjoyed your floss tube. I am doing my Primrose Valentines on magenta with white floss, both from Colour and Cotton.
Aww, we had a red smooth previously named Penny, she came to us when she was 4 and we had her for 10 years. Then it took us awhile to be ready for a new baby. Scout will be 2 in March. She is a bit more sassy than Penny was but still very sweet as well. ❤️
Hi Chari! 🤩 💜💜💜 the crochet witch!! She is so cute!!! Cute pirate!! She should sell them!! 😁 I love the SAL with Nichol, you n your friends! It's SO fun!! Cute top! 🩷
I know the witch was adorable!!! I'm so glad you are enjoying the SAL. My Heart sweater came from JCPenny, I just recently got it. I love it! I would share a link but it appears to be out of stock!
Just like your card videos, I'm enjoying your stitching videos......very well done. It's always fun to see what others are stitching (and buying). I really like the hoops where you display your pins.....very clever idea. Also, love your weenie dog needle minder. Where did you find it? I stitched a weenie dog pattern many many years ago, but would love to find more if they are out there.
Thank you so much! The weenie dog needle minder came from Caterpillar Cross Stitch. It's so cute! www.caterpillarcrossstitch.com/collections/needle-minders/products/needle-minder-sausage-dog-dachshund
Hi Chari I love you from Lawn Fawn for years I've been watching you do your paper crafting...I've been also enjoying learning about cross stitching from first Nichol Spohr who I absolutely love and I've learned from and enjoyed your videos too. I love your ideas your embroidery hop display.
Thank you! The hoops are fun and easy to make. If you are a beginner you can also check out Fat Quarter Shop Cross Stitch University. Nichol and I have both agreed that is the best place for lessons for newbies!
Love that you are doing Flosstube!! Love all of your stitching! We definitely have similar tastes! Your Valentine stitching is so cute. 🩷 I’ve been wanting to make some thread beds. Can you share a tutorial sometime of how you made yours? Happy Stitching!!! 😊🩷
I can certainly put that on my list of things to try and share. I had never made one before either and was looking for tutorials, everything I found seemed way more complicated than what I wanted which was just some felt that snapped shut! I tried two different methods, one I definitely liked more than the other. But I do have one more method I want to try before committing to my favorite.
I really like how the valentine Quaker looks on the juniper! I really appreciate you talking about your color conversions on things. I'm really trying to do more of that but I'm intimidated and don't like to pull stitches out! I'm enjoying all your videos!
I used to feel the same way about color conversions but charts with a small amount of colors is a great place to start. Then just do a floss toss of the colors on your fabric and go from there, you might find you need to change some things as you go.
Oh my it has been so long since I bought a kit! I know that Dimensions brand has small "learn a craft" kits that have a low count fabric (so big squares). I think you can even find these on Amazon. I have seen small kits at Michael's and Hobby Lobby as well. I would look for something that has the floss and fabric (14ct Aida fabric or lower number) as well as a needle, I think a lot of them also include a hoop. Other than that I think it is just finding a pattern that you like and want to stitch. You can find many freebie patterns online as well, or small patterns and basically create your own kit. 14 ct Aida fabric, wood hoops, and DMC floss is readily available at most all craft stores. I hope that is helpful. I would also suggest Fat Quarter Shop's Cross Stitch University if you are just getting started. ruclips.net/p/PLPwfsUojVe-fw2nPaBoTp-8XsycRykh7A
Okay now I want to learn to crochet!! And I’m in NC (Wilmington), too, so it’s fun to hear you reference places here. Do you know of any retreats in or around NC? I’m new to cross stitch and not great at it but love it and want to keep getting better. What do you use to FROG or pull out stitches? ❤
I am leaving the crochet to others, 😆 but I know she started with a Woobles kit and that is what got her going. They have instructional videos to go with the kits. I think she has a whole video showing her Woobles she made. I know Anabella's in Waynesville NC does retreats, but I only think they do one in NC in the fall. Other than that I am not sure of others. I have never been to a cross stitch retreat myself. To pull out my stitches I just use my needle. I have never had it bend like some people claim, I guess my stitches are loose enough, or I cut it out with some very small scissors. I do know other stitchers love the Un-stitcher by Lori Holt but I don't have one.
@@charimoss Thanks, Chari! I think I get a Insta post about Wooblea at least 10 x a day so maybe the universe is telling me to add one more craft to already too big list😜? Thanks for the info! I will keep my eyes out for a retreat on the coast.

I totally agree! Thank you so much!
Can you please explain the difference in the Aida and Lugana and the difference in the flosses? ❤. Loved all of your shares. Thank you. 💜💜💜

Thank you so much. That makes sense but seems really hard lol. I will watch that video. 💜💜💜
Thank you for sharing your stitching and the crochet dolls. Love it!
Thank you! 😊

Love watching! Your color choices from stash are great. Wish I could get on the color and cotton list.
Thanks so much! Yes I had to sign up for notification and waited for awhile before getting on the thread club.
Love your hoops!! I too display all my enamel pins but never thought to use hoops! Love being able to leave the backs on them!! You've inspired me to change my system!! Enjoying your videos and I'm trying to get caught up on your new flosstubes!!!! ❤

The crochet figures are so adorable! You are lucky to have a sister to share your love of stitching. You sure are organized! TFS.
I know she did an amazing job on them. I would not have that kind of patience. 🤣

Yes the hoops are fantastic! I hope that was helpful and you are able to make some. They are pretty easy to do. Thanks so much for watching!
I turned my pins into needle minders!
That's a fun idea!

Awesome! That sounds so pretty, I hope you share pictures in Nichol's Facebook group!
I love the Love Notes too, haven’t jumped on that one yet. Waiting on the market releases.
Well I may have to sit Love Notes to the side until next year. But I don't mind collecting things 😉
Nice show, well organized….see you tomorrow at SAL.
Thank You! Can't wait!
Beautiful work.
Thank you!
I had a smooth coat dapple, Olivia. She was with me just shy of 17 years.
Aww, we had a red smooth previously named Penny, she came to us when she was 4 and we had her for 10 years. Then it took us awhile to be ready for a new baby. Scout will be 2 in March. She is a bit more sassy than Penny was but still very sweet as well. ❤️
Thanks for sharing Chari. I love seeing all your stitches! ❤
Thanks for watching!
Lots of fun ❤ tfs
Thanks for watching!
I have the dachshund needle minder too ❤❤❤
I actually have 2! I bought one and was gifted one as well. ❤️
Love your videos so much! ❤️
Thank you so much!!

Hi Chari!!! New subscriber to your channel, thanks to Nichol Spohr!! 😊
Awesome! I'm so glad you are here!
The pumpkin jingle bells are adorable! Where did you get them?
There is a link to the etsy listing in the description below the video.

Thanks Chari, this was a great video. On your 28, do you do 1over 1?
On 28 I do 2 over 2 so it is the equivalent of a 14 ct Aida.
Never keep track of expenses… then they know. 😂
🤣🤣🤣 So true! I don't want to know either! 🤣
Thank you for the great video. I’m a card maker and I do sew. I would like to start stitching can you suggest a kit to get started.
