It was like reading a good book, your imagination got to paint a picture without taking away from what you are reading (this case watching) because the main character is so gripping and unsurprisingly Jake acting is out of this world! You simply don’t realise your just watching a guy on the phone for two hours and that is down to Jakes phenomenal acting!
You missed a very important part, he also calls his Partner at the end, and tells him to tell the truth , Joe wants to come clean, and his partner is very emotional realizing joe will not be seeing his daughter for many years ..The news reports then show the conviction for manslaughter .. Kind of important because his partner did not have to lie for him , Joe just told him "tell the truth, promise me" ..
I felt a bunch of emotions from start to end, I personally couldn't take my eyes off this film although it wasn't perfect. It indeed was an awesome film and Jake my good sir was Fantastic, his performance was sooo good.

How Oliver was murderd is a lot darker than "he was stabbed" Remember the psychotic mother says "he was sick, and she needed to help him, he had snakes in him and she had to take them out" Thats why the cop that found him was screaming "OMG" and almost got sick. Because the "snakes" were his intestines. The mother ripped him open, and pulled his insides out. The first time I watched that scene, and heard her say "snakes" I knew immediately, ad visualized it right away. It made this movie so much darker, intense, and one crazy turn of events. The "snakes" was one thing, but it was the officers reaction that made it clear. Police see bullet wounds, and stab wounds.... but to make you almost puke and have to run out... you can imagine the scene he must have walked in on.

This film ties with “End of Watch” as one of his greatest, I just finished watching it on Netflix and it is the best thing I’ve ever seen, one of the few movies that almost made me cry and that’s impressive because not even titanic managed to do that to me.
Hard agree. I never cried at the movie but I was sweating and on the verge of tears when he realised the terrible mistake he had made, telling Emily to kill Michael because he deserved it.

The acting of whoever voiced Emily was fantastic, just by her voice and speech you could tell something was so off, and it really gives you shivers
I absolutely loved this film (I just finished watching it), but it bothered me SO MUCH that Joe never apologized to Henry. I did love the choice not to vilify Emily, though, that was not only refreshing but it also made the movie so much smarter, more impactful, and more real
Bro when the little girl was like "Daddy said I shouldn't wake him up" I was "Oh shit oh fuck" and then she went "Daddy had a knife" and I was like "OH GOD OH NOOOOOOOO" and then when you find out what really happened I was so goddamn shook I had to pause the movie. I really enjoyed this movie, usually I can't handle all the suspense and waiting to see what happens next but it had me gripped from start to finish and most of that was thanks to Jakes acting
@@jadex9733 It was Red Herring, when the girl say her dad had the knife the immediate assumption was that he hurt the son but in reality he had taken the knife from the wife and hadn't put it some place safe before making sure his daughter didn't see what ACTUALLY happened. It was poor timing more than anything
I thought the movie was great, didn't know it was a remake. And as for the concept of only seeing Jake, that just added suspense. If they cut to scenes in the van or scenes with the girl on the phone it wouldn't have been nearly as effective. I will admit I didn't think his cough mattered at all, and it would have been nicer to see more than the call in the stall. But as for the concent itself, it was very exciting to me.
I actually heard Bill Burr's voice as well. It was the call from a bar where there was a fight and a tremendous amount of background noise. Jake Gyllenhaal hands up on him because he insults him lol
Just to give a little insight it’s very emotional and physiological outlook i know someone very close to me a family member that is having a mental breakdown on a deeper feeling I felt this because this person I know use to be normal until she was diagnosed with depression and bipolar disorder and she became a completely different person at times it’s so sad because after the hospital she was not allowed to be alone with her kids so many of us tried to help but mental illness is a very sad condition she also tried to walk through traffic and was not herself we see her now and then and the sad part is the kids just think she has Covid that’s why she can’t be around or isint contacting them at their age it’s to early to tell them they went through a lot before we found out because we didn’t hear from them she stopped paying for their phones no internet nothing so we decided to go look for them to make sure everything was ok but when we got their the kids had no food they spent most of their time upstairs locked in their room it was so sad we saw her in a state where she was taking to herself and kept saying that she was dieng and kept referring herself as someone else she use to groom herself and was beautiful but that was the complete opposite and it was sad and scary we still have hope of her getting better but it’s been a while now and Emily reminds me of her because she is sweet but in her head are horrible thoughts so if you know anyone with a mental illness you will understand and be more engaged sorry for the spoiler but it’s a great movie not only on mental illness but also seems the protagonist is having depression and might also be going through a breakdown as she is so he connects with her she thought her baby was being hurt by snakes and he thought the guy he killed was hurting someone or he said he thinks so it’s like he saw himself as becoming like Emily
I agree...he saw himself becoming like her yet not enough in that he was still sane and he came close to being responsible for causing another death (Emily's) and he couldn't bear the thought of living with that. He came close tho.

In actually getting insured as she attempted to walk into traffic the first time it didn’t work she recently actually got hit by a car and injured herself it’s just sad because we all tried to help but I think this had a big message from mental illness people and his character was in going into that break stage as to Emily had already done it they both hurt people and he also didn’t know what really was going and walking her through hurting her husband because he thought he was helping but not really knowing the situation I think people that know people or have this condition can appreciate this movie more as to people that don’t really understand what causes a person to lose their sanity

Although this remake of the original was well-done, I preferred the Danish film. I've always liked watching foreign films with subtitles and retaining the spoken language, instead of overdubbed English. Jacob Cedergren's performance was riveting, building the tension to a phenomenal reveal. A tour de force!

I didn’t like this movie. It easy to make all in 1 setting. Acting was sorta cheesy and cmon now days not everyone turns themselves in. Can’t fix the past and use logic.
This was one of his worst movies after. Nocturnal animals. But usually. He makes great movies 🎥! I hope he makes more movies like night crawler
