The whole concept of Angra-Holy Land album is about Brazil discovery by the portuguese. It was musically meant attract people that was not usually into more heavy stuff. As in Brazil heavy is not popular at all. It worked quite well.
More than one person has asked you to react to Carolina IV from this same album. I won't do it differently😂 Listen to this wonderful song, one of the most perfect creations of this band I love.
In the begining there's rly a berimbau and other instrument called chocalho (rattle). It's an indigenous origin instrument. Used in some indigenous rituals too.
That sound is actually from a capoeira berimbal. I would like sponsor another song from them, Carolina-IV, but first I gotta create a lyric video as I couldn't find any. It gotta be a lyric video because it is about sailing and you are an ex-marine, so.
Certainly the musical theme of Holy Land (whole album, but this song even more) is Brazilian rhythms. So you can bet that was a berimbau. And an uruá, and a pandeiro and much more, because Angra went "you know what, give me those traditional instruments... They'll make heavy metal now" and someone stupid probably said "no wait, that is for something like samba or coco or..." and they went "THEY MAKE METAL NOW" and pulled it off.
You are totally correct. There's a lot of unusual instruments on this song (in the entire album) Angra always put some Brazilian music elements on their songs. And this album is about the great navigations and the discovery of Brasil. So it has a lot of Brazilian instruments and also uses scales and harmonies that are present on Brazilian folk music.
Brazil is the holy land they are referring to... Holy land is a conceptual album about the europeans "discovering" America, particularly Brazil in this case.
Check out from Edu Falaschi era some remarkable songs like Nova Era, wishing well, heroes of sand, rebirth, arising Thunder, spread your fire (feat.kay Hansen) 👍
What up brother. I'm very impressed you know what a berimbau is, i'm even more impresssed you enunciated it correctly. Please react to angra - carry on. There are many versions, here's the one i find the better, it's the original band formation, good audio quality, and is also a compilation of shows so you get ot see a little of their performances. ruclips.net/video/LqaDmOLRhME/видео.html if you wanna get a more rockish style from this band i would also recomend Angra - shadow hunter, different band formation, a whole another vibe.

The strongest influence in this song is from traditional northeast Brazilian song.

Masterpiece and masterpiece album, one of the best bands in the world. WE WILL MISS YOU MASTER MATOS THANKS FOR YOUR MAGNIFICENT TALENT!! WE LOVE YOU!
This song and the whole album are about the discovering of Brazil, in 1500. It kinda explains the name of the album "Holy Land".
Andre also had another band called Shaman. They have the song For Tomorrow, which has this same vibe and remembers the Holy Land album.
Something different. One of my favourite albums of all time. Andre's voice is immaculate as always!!!
