  • For the longest time I have wanted to visit the Hollywood Sikh Gurdwara but have never had the chance. However, the opportunity presented itself this Sunday, and I was able to go and observe their wonderful services and the delicious free meal they offer as well.
    When I first started working on paying off debt, I spent a lot of time at an Indian supply store because they sold beans, rice and spices in bulk. Along the way, I met some rather remarkable people.

    It is also said that 500 years ago when the japji sahib was being recited every morning by the Sikhs... People from other religions would laugh and mock and say that there cannot be more than one sun or more than one moon in the universe.. But NASA has now confirmed that there are over a trillion suns/stars and a moons... 4 ish moons are orbiting Jupiter alone...

      Steve Payne again with a FIRMAMENT over all of our heads we come to realize that the word Brahamand is the egg we live in on this plane of existence, the other Suns and Moons are contained within their respective Brahamand which isn't visible/obtainable/measurable by any NASA Computer Generated Images. Only Gurooji was revealed this information, never can NASA without CGI can produce anything that is outside of the FIRMAMENT. The Hebrew word for FIRMAMENT is Raqiya, and the Punjabi word for FIRMAMENT is Rakhia or Akaash. My Guroo is the Holy Teachings of Gurbani, NASA is a parasitic cancerous disease of the world's history ran by Freemasons and other Satanic orders. Do some research away from the evil eye of NASA if you are really wanting to obtain the Truth.

      Not exactly antennas, but they should be left alone as to follow god's will which was to either give u hair or not give u hair.

    • @ravsingh1766
      @ravsingh1766 6 лет назад

      GotNoName its necessary to grow hair compulsory in sikhism growing of hair is imposed by 10th grow to give sikhs a distinct look like islam hindus christian sikhs wear turban to cover the hair but our holybook not revolve on the hairs only it says be a good human from inside not outside, you can be a sikh with cut hair no problem half of the sikhs have trimmed hair

    • @soorma01
      @soorma01 6 лет назад +1

      Hair and 5 Ks are mandatory for Khalsa, not all sikhs. Although all sikhs should look forward to remaining in god's will, but hair are not needed right away. Sikhs could be the nanak panthis, followers of kabir ji, ravidas ji, etc

    The Sikh Temple where I live has festivals where they invite everyone from the community to visit their temple and share a meal with them. I like it that the people are so generous and focus on being decent, and hard working. I cannot help but notice how they strive to live good and moral lives.There are many berry farms near Bellingham that are owned by Sikhs. Sadly, there was a time when the Sikh community was run out of the the city, they erected a granite arch by the downtown Public Library as a gift to the people of Bellingham. Very noble of them to be so gracious after being treated so badly.

    Nanak talks about black holes which exist within the galaxies and NASA are now discovering all which was written 500 years ago...waheguru ji...amazing... The first thing created according to Nanak was hydrogen and then came water created by The Creator (wahe guru)

    • @sikhbhavikh3232
      @sikhbhavikh3232 6 лет назад +6

      Steve Payne never heard of black holes anywhere in Gurbani. Guroo Amardas Ji wrote; " He himself has set up his throne in the FIRMAMENT and the nether regions. By his Divine Ordinance is created the Earth, the place for righteous action." I know most people are still stuck in the false NASA paridyme of false outer space but after getting over cognitive dissonance some real spiritual warriors are able to see through the likes of the world's governments in hiding the existence of the FIRMAMENT of which a lot of us are fully aware of.

    Further Explanations -
    - The word Gurudwara ( Sikh Temple) is the combination of two words - Guru + Dwara (door). Guru helps you identify and opens the door to God, which is within you. It is not Guru's house but a door pathway...Guidance
    - Symbols - Five 'Ks':
    - Kara (Bangle) Made up of Steel to be worn on the WORKING hand. Purpose - will constant remind you to be faithful to God while WORKING. Faithful through honest living.
    - Kanga (Comb) - Keep clean and Looking after the body which God has created.
    - Kesh (Hair) - Adoption of a simple life, denial of pride and acceptance of God's gift as God intended it.
    - Kachara (Long Boxer shorts/underwear) - Chastity
    - Kirpan (a small ceremonial dagger) - Discipline, yield for Struggle (within you and outside)
    The current Guru = Guru Granth
    ** Book may not be the right word to use here ** Why? People start to equate it to a book. Bible wasn't written by Jesus. But Guru Granth contains the verses of Saints, along with musical references.
    Think of this way - You do not call a $100 bill just another piece of paper. Why? It has been stamped by the Govt. to be a BankNote. And you keep it with some care.
    Guru Granth is the $100 billion dollar Guidance bill.

    KARA generates a sound when it strikes on things when we use our arm for doing works. It is for reminding human of god thouout the day which he forgots after every few minutes through the sound generated. So traditional sikhs wear big & heavy kara. Some sikhs recommend wearing heavy & non sharp kara.
    Kirpan meaning is itself in its name. Kirpan mean "blessing coming" & blessings are always from god, so kirpan is sword of god not of humans. A sikh wearing 5 K's or kirpan have to worship & understand Gurbani three times a day. So he can never use kirpan unless its for blessings. Kirpan have very high sacred status in minds of sikhs because they bow to kirpan & give food to kirpan & convert the food to sacred food before eating it in gurudwara. Sikhs are told to be saint-soldiers by the guru, in this term before the soldier it is saint & sainthood (piri) is always kept higher then soldierhood (miri). So before putting the palm on kipan sikh have to be saint before soldier.
    & when the sword is in the hand of a saint he always use it for blessing or stopping tyrancy. Also our guru specifically told us to use ALL ways before raising sword. "But when all ways have failed its your duty to raise sword" 😀

    Dr. Radha Krishnan a great thinker, philosopher and the former President of India who was nominated for Nobel Prize, deeply studied the Sikh religion and commended it on many counts in the UNESCO publication on the Holy Guru Granth Sahib and the Sikh Gurus.
    He once met the Russian leader Stalin who asked him,
    "Dr. Radha Krishnan, how would you backfill the wide trench between the rich and poor in India?"
    He promptly replied, "In the same way as Guru Gobind Singh abolished the caste barriers and engulfed the wide split between Hindus and Muslims of India."

    I have to correct you , the kirpan/dagger symbolizes self defence and protect other people from injustice . Back in the day when the Mughal empire ruled India Sikh’s became the worrier tribe so it also symbolizes that to fight for freedom of religion , all the five k’s make it easier to identify a Sikh because back then when u saw a Sikh u could feel safe knowing they will protect you

    Kanga means selfcare or keep clean yourself, kara is a handcuff for sikh means it’s reminder to sikh that you can’t do any bad thing with these hands bcz you are a Sikh and Kara helped in war as well , kesh means uncut hair it shows a Sikh is a saperete race and belong to guru, kirpan means kirpa+ aan so kirpa means mercy so a Sikh use it just for help the people not offence or just for self defence, kachaira mean a special underwear wich lace so its a symble of a Sikh’s character, when a tie down lace of kachiara it’s remind him a Sikh should good in his or her character , a Sikh can sleep wich his wife or her hubby .

    From what I know, religious practising Sikhs cannot eat meat, fish or eggs.
    Sikhs who are not religious, therefore, not practising Sikhs, they can do what they like but if they visit the temple, they cannot be intoxicated or drink alcohol on the premises. Same with smoking. Also, no meat, fish or eggs on the premises.

      No, sikhs can eat fish,eggs,meat if they like.They are forbidden to cut hair,eat muslim cut meat halal, any intoxication and are also forbidden to have extramarital affairs or physical affairs before marriage.The khalsa or orthodox sikh is supposed to be pure.Whosoever sikh breaks these 4 rules is a sinner in eyes of God.Some sikhs don't follow these 4 rules as these are very difficult to follow but most do.These rules come under Sikh moral code of conduct Sikh Rehat Maryada

    @2:06 India did not exist when Sikhi was founded. The Punjab, historic land of the Sikhs is currently divided between Pakistan and India. Guru Nanak, founder of the Sikh faith and nation was born at Nanakana Sahib (present day Punjab, Pakistan) and resided at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur (present day Punjab, Pakistan). He traveled Europe, the Middle East and Asia. So really, Sikhi was not founded in one particular place or region, especially not at one that was founded in 1947 about 500 years after the establishment of the Sikh faith and nation.

    Sikhs are told by the Gurus (prophet/god) to be a saint soldier and hence kirpa means blessings from which kirpan is derived when means someone or something who gives blessing and protects... It is an order to keep it with us all times not just to protect ourselves but even if we see someone else in trouble, it is our duty to save them.

    Wow! Great video. As far as my understanding, the Guru Granth Sahib teachings helps you to connect with the conscience. You look at the history of Sikhism keeping the “Conscience” part in mind & I believe that will help in further understanding.
    What a great video. Thank you for sharing!

      While I am not a Sikh, I have enjoyed learning about the faith a feel a deep connection to many of the teachings. For me, as a non Sikh, the music, poems and prayers seem like a stream that is carrying us back to the source. I love the idea of going within, back to the heart, to get closer to God. Thanks for your kind words.

      The sign said Sikh Temple and the title here is Gurdwara. I think you should write the L.A Temple and have them change the sign. :-)

    Dear Mam, a Kirpan is a short dagger that is correct...but if we see the literal meaning...the word kirpan originates from kirpa, meaning "mercy", "compassion" or "kindness"; and anaa, meaning "honor". It is weared so that Sikhs always remember that they are expected to embody the qualities of a Sant Sipahi or "saint-soldier" of God and seek strength and courage to defend the rights of all who are wrongfully oppressed or persecuted irrespective of their colour, caste, or creed. It is not for hurting someone but has a symbolic meaning that as humans each one of us should stand to protect humanity and human rights of oppressed. The tradition was started by Gurus in 16th century when there was extreme oppression and intolerance in the society. It is considered a sin in Sikhism to use the kirpan to harm someone for personal reason or enmity.
    With regards
    Dr A D Singh

    I really appreciate your effort. The Sikhs themselves beside just a few don't know the religion thoroughly and give wrong explanation to non Sikhs about their religion. The 10th Guru never ever said that from now on after my death you worship the SGGS as a living Guru. He said to take guidance, advice and leadership from it when some Sikhs asked him whom to look for as a Guru after him. Dasam Granth is a fraud and fake Granth perpetuated on the Sikhs by the British with help from the Brahmins, Nirmalas, Udasis and Mahants to dilute the teachings of our Gurus and create confusion among the Sikh masses about the 10th Guru that he can write vulgars things about women as in the Dasam Granth and he is a worshipper of Devi/ Devtas. The only Granth is SGGS and the only Nitnem is Japji Sahib, Rehras Sahib and Sohila Sahib which are in the SGGS from Page 1 - 13. Jaap Sahib and Chaupai Sahib are fake and not Nitnem. The British along with the Brahmins wanted to defeat the concept of " Ek Panth Ek Granth" meaning One Community One Book.
