Interesting about the "giving direction." I tend to build a rapport with people before I shoot.. I have great convos before we shoot. So that when I do shoot, we are already on the same page, already have a vibe, and I don't have to give that much direction. Subtle movements of my own, an occasional finger point, re-enact a pose for them, usually does the trick. I tend to say less on set, and just let them / their body do what's natural. Everybody is different lol, for sure. Whatever works ! lol. Anyway, nice video man.
Wanted to support your channel so I bought your Portra 400 preset yesterday and now I even got JT edition as well 🙂 Keep up the great work 🙏 Greetings from Sweden!
Thanks! Threw the presets on two headshots from the studio. These are one-click, no modifiers. www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/l84jk837gh0cmx7kids1f/AA0PyFjyn1dSR4f7TLVGodY?rlkey=kg8q1dm86m9rm6k5jokupxu7n&dl=0
@@davidherring Oh wow thanks, that was fast! That's pretty impressive! I've never had any preset work on studio work without a tonne of tweaking to the point where I may as well have started from scratch!! Is this the JT Porter or the standard Porter?
The initial landscape images shot with film look a bit oversaturated to me. It could also just be a contrast adjustment giving the perception of more saturation. All lovely images.
This one is really good. I've been chasing this warm/green portra look for a long time.
Thanks man! Super stoked to get it out there!
I love this collaboration! I love Jake's work. Can't wait to pick these up soon to test on my Nikon ZF.
Heck yeah!

Thank you so much! Hope you enjoy them!
Love the look of these, would be interesting to see how they perform in a studio scenario but these look the best I've seen in a very long time!

Sorry autocorrect!! PORTRA!
@brianrolfe8128 JT! The one featured in this video.
@@davidherring I figured but thought I'd double check 😁
The fact that you, Jason (grainydays), Evanranft, and grainychecks I think is her Yt is motivated me to work with Fujifilm and fall in love with it.
Love that!
Jake is the best person in the world!!
Agreed!
Very nice! Bought it straight away.
Thanks for the support!
I’m ready for some Very Good Luts
For reals!
Ha, if I was confident in my ability to make LUTs I’d do it!
So good Dave and Jake!!
Thanks bro!
Loved it!!
Thanks!
Great work and info 🎉
Thank you!
I just bought Vision3 so I am too poor right now but I will get it when I can it looks so awesome!
Yeah, usually I don't release presets so close together. But both Vision3 and this pack were collaborations and we wanted to get them out!
The initial landscape images shot with film look a bit oversaturated to me. It could also just be a contrast adjustment giving the perception of more saturation. All lovely images.
Those scans are Jake’s scan preferences and style!
Very good presets is very good
No you are
Will the borders work in lightroom as well?
Yep they work in LR with no problem!
Hey, I want to buy a preset but I was wondering what is the difference between Portra 400: Jake Tovar Edition and just the portra 400?
The standard Portra 400 is your normal lab-scan style preset. The JT edition is inspired by how he styles it with his lab.
@@davidherring okay thank you! So they are both different?
@@MrSolidair Yep! Completely different.
@@davidherring okay! Thanks for the reply!
Where are you getting your film developed and scanned in CA?
Jake gets his film scanned at www.negativelab.co/
@@davidherring THANKS. Do you have an all presets bundle?
purchased these presents and they essentially can be done on your own by over exposing your photo by a few stops
A lot goes into these presets but thanks for your feedback.
Do you have these for capture one? Id buy if so

@@davidherring sad
whats the next preset coming 👀👀👀
🤷🏻♂️😉
@@davidherring trx??? tmax???
Sigh, not so soon after the 500T pack. lol
I thought it was ironic that your discount code for a digital preset is “shoot film”.
It is April Fools Day after all! Yes, these collaborations were fairly close together. Things *unfortunately* slow down after this one.
Capture One pleeease 😎

What does it mean, look like film? -- grainy and blurry with poor dynamic range and bad colors?
Sure.
Ah damn man, so sorry thats been ur experience shooting film. 😢 Youll get there with practice tho. 👍🏾
