I remember recording this video and the “When I Close My Eyes” video and learning all of the choreography! I use to rewind play pause for hooooouuuuurs!!! Thanks for the great memories!
Love the funk, sassy , r/b flavor this song brings to the table. I didn’t noticed the dancing as a child back in the day, but I appreciate it now. I do remember the vid tho
Shanice girl u are one my top artists! This song takes me back when I was 10 years old singing every song and not missing any dance steps lol. You are one of my idols! Blessings in everything you do girl!!!!
I remember this playing on BET. That club scene is everything. I wish there were clubs that looked like this and that played this kind of 🎵. I would be going every week I'm telling you.
This video takes me back to the summer of 1994 and watching Video Soul Top 20 countdown. I also bought the album 21 Ways to Grow cd with my allowance...great time in music :-)
Awww, that's really sad. Shanice is a mad vocalist/singer and deserve as much success as these untalented autotune tarts I see topping the Billboard Charts now
The 4-Track Remix CD Single of "Somewhere" was the lead single her album "21... Ways To Grow" and it was also released on May 17, 1994 three days after she turned 21-years-old.
Motown didn't know what to do with her. Inner Child should have made her mainstream. I didn't care for 21 Ways To Grow.. very much but it had potential. The Laface albumw as a perfect album from start to finish and they didn't promote it at all. Shanice should have been up there with Toni, Mariah and Whitney she had the vocal ability and look!
@@mauricesantinomfBro you are wrong. This song was on 21 Ways to Grow. She was 21 years old. Her debut album dropped when she was 14! All ur facts wrong 😂
Wow I'm just hearing this song now. The instrumentation in the hook works well. However, you can tell some parts of this song are a bit unpolished. In particular, when the clavinet starts to get all weird in the background and doesn't exactly follow the song. For the breakdown, after "the true definition is" lyric I'd cut to the "somewhere" background vocal. Then continue the song until the end of the chorus and either echo the "baby" lyric or fade out the song at that point. The gospel-y ending was unnecessary. The rest is just the vocals audio quality which can probably be cleaned up with a remaster.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Shanice take time off away from the biz to pursue college/raise a family? Not knocking her for it but it can explain it in terms of her being out of sight out of mind
that sax sample is soo 90's love it!
Solid, old school song from back in the days.
What a voice! Beautiful and fione!
Rather Shanice, is sangin' ballads or dancin' to funky beats like this one, she is always the Bomb!!!!!
