For those who actually followed the warriors from 2017-2019 it was obvious that steph curry was more valuable to the warriors. When Durant was out and it was just Curry and the warriors, they would continue winning at the same pace as the warriors wirh Kd. Case in point : KD got injured for 20 games in 2016-17. The warriors went 16-4 in those 20 games including a 13 game win streak without him. in 2017-18 this time Curry was the one that got injured and he was out for 31 games. The warriors went 18-13 in those games without him. 2018-19 was the season that proved it, Curry injured for 11 games Warriosr go 5-6 with Kd playing in all of those games, he was scoring big but he just doesnt have the same winning impact as curry does. And then in the playoffs when KD got injured, the warriors beat the rockets in game 6 at home and then SWEPT a 3rd seeded Portland team without him in which Curry had the greatest scoring series in a sweep ever.
Don’t leave out the Toronto series when they were begging KD to play bc they were down 3-1.
@@2cents250 and do you think Kd wouldve done any better if he was the one that was healthy and Curry was injured. No way in hell the warriors are sweeping the blazers if curry was the one that was out and kd was playing., the blazers wouldve probably beaten them.

The 3 playoff runs where KD outplayed Steph
You’re not adding any real context of those without KD or steph games. How many games without KD did everybody else play? Same question with Steph. Also, when in the season did both guys miss time? All these things matter than just plastering the record
@pandabear1576 roughly 80 games were played with curry and NO kd. 80% win rate. Roughly 80 games were played with KD and no curry. Roughly 54% win rate.

@GalileoGalilei1642 kd was open. Like I can outrun Usain Bolt if he was carrying a 100 lb backpack. Doesn't make me the faster, better runner 😂
People seem to forget that if harrison barnes doesn’t shoot 5-31 with no one guarding him the last 3 games of the finals against Cleveland, warriors win easily!
The amount of gravity and attention required to stop steph will give nba caliber players the best opportunity they will ever have!
The warriors didn’t need Durant, they needed a guy in place of Harrison Barnes who could shoot better than 5-31 with no one guarding them!
Hypothetical ass
So instead of KD they could have had 2 players instead and had the same result. That’s what I have always said
@@starfalcon2220 exactly. People forget that in games 5-7 against Cleveland, harrison Barnes shot 5-31 with no on guarding him! He was in a contract year and broke down mentally! If he shoots 12-31 on wide open shots the warriors win easily! You replace that guy with KD essentially! If you have to do all that to stop steph curry, then it is impossible to stop them if a guy like KD is either ignored or not the focus of the defense
Thank you for pointing this out. I swear casuals box score watch the tape shows barnes was wide open which allowed lebron to play free safety
If kyrie and love weren’t hurt Cavs win in 15 what’s your point?
I also thought it was the suspension or bogut getting hurt or the shot. Now it barns?
All I know is Steph has titles without Kd and also the warriors won more games without kd in the lineup than without steph
Steph was more impactful and more valuable to the Warriors than KD, no doubt about that. Only street ball mentality dudes think KD is the greater player because he has more skills and is a better scorer in terms of iso. KD was scoring on the Cavs in 2017 and 2018 because they had absolutely no defenders for him at all. The Cavs focused on Curry so much more to the point they were letting KD go for open dunks just so they wouldn't have to leave Steph and Klay open. Legit, JR as the last line of defense ran out to Curry instead of staying in front of a driving KD who got a breakaway dunk. LeBron's defense on KD was non-existent and pitiful, that was so embarrassing to watch. LeBron was legit scared to guard KD, dude was slippin and fallin out there 💀
Yea what they’re trying to say is that the GSW team was built around Steph and was a ball movement team and Steph had teammates with specific strengths that complimented Stephs specific strengths. and KD was more of an isolation player so it would make sense that Curry would be more impactful to that team. I think they’re saying if you were to put them on a team that was built around KDs ability and had players that more complimented KD then you would see KD as the more impactful player. I don’t really agree with this I think curry is just overall a better player, but I can understand and I would agree with the point that the main reason why we can easily say that hat curry was more valuable to that team was because it was built around him with player that benefited his strengths and the system relied on him. So I understand why KD would win less games when Steph didn’t play compared to how many games Steph won with KD out. If you put them on like a neutral team it would probably be closer and harder to say who’s more impactful to the team.
@@teal2913 The OKC Thunder put Russ, Harden, Ibaka, Martin, a series of good wing defenders around KD.... no titles. KD had Kyrie in 2022 against Celtics, got swept. KD is a great solo force that can get teams deep into the playoffs with his great individual scoring performances, but he doesn't amplify his teammates anywhere near the level of Steph Curry. A system ran around KD's abilities doesn't empower Draymond and Klay like Curry does. We saw when KD went down against Houston in 2019, Steph was still able to turn it on and beat the Rockets two games in a row to win the series. The Warriors in the 2018-19 season legit played better without KD because their roles were more defined without him. The Warriors would stop moving around and be memorized by KD's iso ability, KD would get his buckets, but they would lose still because the rest of them were disengaged. When Steph had it going and everyone was playing off his hot scoring games, the Warriors were at their best. That was the true impact difference between the two.
None of that matters in the argument. No one asked what they did without each other.

I’d say it’s KD they gas up Curry playmaking like he’s John Stockton averaging 11 assists. Here’s some of the stats from 16-19 for KD and Steph. KD averaged 25.8 PTS, 7.1TRB, 5.4AST, 1.5BLK. Curry averaged 26.3PTS, 4.9TRB, 6.0AST, 1.6STL. The assist differential is 0.6 yet Curry is just so much better at playmaking than KD. My thoughs on the situation is that KD was the better individual basketball player, but Steph was more important, dangerous and his impact on winning was higher than KD. There's a great video from thinking basketball that showed that KD would get easy cuts to the basket because teams were so focused on trying to contain Steph. Like KD all around was really good, but Steph was so great at what he does, that it just broke all the rules. A good comparison I think is Wilt and Bill Russel. Wilt had all the crazy stats, and on paper was the better player, but Bill Russel's style of play was better for winning

Where was Steph’s dangerous impact in those rockets series when they played him 1 on 1? The “gravity” excuse is getting tiresome 🥱
@@NothingElseMattersJMyou mean the series where he averaged a combined 28/6/6 ? I think he did pretty well.
From this video, I'm realizing the difference between KD and Steph. KD's game pulls two players towards him, Steph's game makes everyone play man to man. I think that KD is the better individual player because his presence automatically pulls two players or changes the defensive scheme. Steph makes teams play man to man, which is a very strong ability paired with KD's game bringing two players towards him. Steph allows KD to not get double teamed, but the real power comes from KD bringing a double team to begin with, making him individually better. Steph is very important for the system to work.

That was the only system that could make him share the ball and trust his teammates, and even then he rebelled against it early on after winning titles using it. Kobe never could play with ball dominant PGs, he was never used to that. That's why spot up shooting PGs were the most ideal teammates for Kobe like a Derek Fisher, Steve Blake, Lindsey Hunter, Tyron Lue, and even Smush Parker. They were relegated to just shooting the ball and sometimes initiating the offense.
@@QuestionEverything562 The same could be said about Michael Jordan but I digress..
@@QuestionEverything562 The Lakers were a top 10 offense in 2012-13 and a top 5 offense with Nash and Kobe on the floor…
@@NothingElseMattersJM So? Was that good enough? Shouldn't they have been even better with Kobe, Nash, D-12, and Gasol within offensive guru Mike Dantoni's up tempo offense? Dantoni's offense is almost always top 5 when actually fully utilized and comprehended. Kobe didn't want to play up tempo and he also had no patience for any offense outside of the Triangle Offense at that advanced age. He wanted half court sets where he could be the primary playmaker, Nash couldn't be fully utilized in the way Dantoni wanted. Kobe wanted Dantoni there, let's not forget he also had Mike Brown's Princeton offense that same season, and he didn't care for that either. Go look up that season, is that a typical Dantoni ran offense? No, because old schooled ball stoppers like Kobe and Melo liked a slower pace. This was 34 yr old Kobe, he was used to a certain offense for like 13 years of his career, he felt he had no time playing out these new offensive schemes and losing.
Now you can come up with Nash was old and hobbled, D-12 wasn't fully healthy, and Gasol was hurt excuses, but I'm just telling you from how I saw that team execute as a team when they had their best horses. It was a team that never meshed together offensively. I am not here to blame Kobe for hijacking the offense because it seemed like he had to do it just to get his team into the playoffs, I am just simply saying it was an offense helmed by Kobe more so than any of his coaches that season. New head coach Dantoni was powerless against a Lakers legend.
@@marlowstanfield6815 But did MJ ever have a great offensive guru PG like a Steve Nash at any point? He didn't, but I also think that MJ wouldn't want a John Stocktonesque or Steve Nashesque ball dominant PG anyway. The triangle system best utilized his own scoring and passing, that was an equal ball sharing system that made no player the overwhelming ball handler, which was perfect for MJ once he trusted it. Kobe had that same triangle system, but it took him much longer to fully trust it as the head honcho of the Lakers. Kobe really didn't understand leadership and how to trust his team and the triangle system fully until the 2007-08 season. Phil and Shaq's dominance forced Kobe to trust the triangle, but once they left, Kobe always reverted to iso Kobe. MJ only had Phil Jackson and Tex Winters as his main coaches for two seasons before he understood how to trust his teammates and trust the triangle to maximize success. MJ's and Kobe's mental game evolutions are very different. Kobe was a player that could understand any system, but he wasn't a player that necessarily was going to play within that system.

And if you take into account non obvious things such as his gravity, affect on the game, impact. Curry 28ppg 6 reb 7 ast on 40% from the floor and 42% from 3pt
KD 29ppg 11 reb 8 ast on 53% from the field and 41% from 3pt
If you think back there was never a conversation if anyone on GS was going to win finals MVP other than KD.
@Avery B. you ignore that we have alpt of videos on those finals showing kd got wide open dunks because the cavs put two players on curry leaving kd open for dunks. Curry literally created open looks for kd and not the other way around. Notice kd has never shot the percentages he shot on the warriors anytime outside of golden state but Currys numbers remained the same with or without kd
@@stanleywarren129 exactly. Folks just look at box scores and not the actual games.
People act like KD wasn’t a 4 time scoring champion before he went to the Warriors. Steph ain’t the reason he was a prolific scorer. Check the stats. He is a great scorer before and after Steph. Averages more points in the playoffs and his overall career.
4x scoring champion and 0x NBA champ. And Steph is the reason KD is an NBA champion, not the other way around. Check the record. Prolific scoring isn't enough to make you a greater player.
Not trying to be a Steph hater but he got very lucky with great management. Klay Thompson, iggy and green were perfect for curry. Not only that but the warriors got extremely lucky in 2015 when kyrie got hurt. Replace curry with Durant in 2016 and the warriors beat the cavs
That's way more than luck wtf lol everyone they drafted wasn't even highly touted prospects and it took them a few years to develop into the beast they became so wtf you mean luck?
@@SosukeTYBW that’s the definition of luck. Curry is LUCKY he was drafted to a team with a competent front office. Put curry on the kings and how many rings he got????
@@tommartyn524 competent? At the time curry was drafted warriors was a dumbsterfire of a organization that was still at the bottom of the league for the next 4-5 years after they drafted curry, they then traded monte which the fans hated them for cause curry was still a young and injury prone PG then the following years drafted klay at like 13th pick and Draymond at the very last pick of the first round which Draymond didn't even start for the next following years until they let go of mark Jackson and hired Steve kerr who seen value in someone like draymond
@@SosukeTYBW and all that was luck. He was lucky that he got drafted there. He was lucky they got klay. He was lucky kyrie got hurt in 2015. He goes to any other team and he doesn’t have 4 rings. It’s luck.
@@tommartyn524 you obviously don't know wtf the word luck even means lmao
Curry makes everyone better made KD better
Drymond better
Iggy
And Wiggins
Steph wasn’t better until KD joined him to the masses.

@@StoneCold2k57 I’m saying before KD joined him no one thought that bro. Literally but I get the argument now.
@@tayluc777 funny thing is even when Curry had Durant for the two finals wins Durant carried him so hard. I remember Curry would have games where he couldn’t do anything. Curry couldn’t even beat the Raptors without KD 😂.
@@timratliff5646 he needed him for Bron and Kyrie for sure.
@@tayluc777 I think people just have recency bias for Curry. Because back in 2017 if you said Curry was better than Durant you’d get roasted 😂
Bro the warriors won 73 games and went to b2b finals and came a free throw away from winning both, KD can’t even make the finals this a no brainer to anybody but KD stans
It's impossible to say that steph was better when Steph begged the man to come to his team KD did not reach out to the warriors to join them 😂
If Curry thought he was better he wouldn't ask kd and run it back but obviously he had doubts of him being the best player on a team to beat lebron
You've been watching too much Undisputed 🤣 Steph didn't beg anyone. He simply did what he was expected to do for the team. You do know Cavs were also trying to get KD even after winning in 2016, right?
@@SLiCeDx so going to someone house is not begging 😂 I get it you have to defend curry legacy like the media does for him
@itonlycanbe1663 So everyone that goes to your house to speak with you is begging? You see how foolish you sound? And given that the Cavs were fighting to get KD even after they won, LeBron was begging too, right?
@@SLiCeDx yes if they asking me something to help them with
When I didn't offer any help
Your asking me at my house for my assistance and it has to urgent because we could have talked on the phone 😂🤣 or not just ask him at all since y'all team beat his team and won 73 games so it should look weak on curry part for begging but he gets a pass from fans and media but kd get attacked that doesn't make sense when they won together not apart
Your going out of your way by coming to his house to ask him to join
Bron lost came back same team
Curry lost and begged for Kd didn't come back same team
@@SLiCeDx yes lebron James asked kd but the difference lebron texted him to join him in 2019 he didn't set up a meeting at the Lakers facility or at his house or kd house to convince him to come
Curry went to KD house to ask him not a text 🤣
This is documented sir 😂
So which one is going out of your way which is basically begging
Asking me in
A text or coming to my house to talk to me personally
When I saw JR Smith leave KD to have a clear run to the rim just to cover a potential Steph 3, that's when I knew he was *HIM*
That’s when I knew the Cavs were a bottom 10 defense
Quite frankly I'm tired of the Kobe nut hugging thinking there's nothing anyone can do to surpass him on all-time rank and all this is new cause I remember vividly how when he was alive the disrespect he was getting with damn near every year his rank would get lower and lower, I remember him being ranked top 5 before then it went down to lower top 10 so around 7-10 then it went to people ranking him outside of tye top 10 and calling him a shock chucker and ball hog. But since his unfortunate passing now I'm seeing a overcorrection and a denial of any current player outside of lebron since people been had lebron ahead of him even when he was alive, that no current player no matter what they do can surpass Kobe, idc what nobody say I already got Kobe and curry close on my all-time rank and if curry end up getting 5 at any point before he retire I'm putting him over Kobe all-time, it is what it is.
