To anyone who want the advice but falls asleep before the end: 1. Making decisions is not taking action. 2. Be careful about who you let give you advice. 3. Learn to define, understand and describe your emotions. 4. Self-improvement is an addiction and there is an overdose. 5. Respect is everybody's least favorite word and most important asset. 6. Therapy is a microcosm. (it means that the way you behave in therapy is a reflection of the way you behave in other areas of your life). 7. Create more than you consume and you will be a happier person. 8. The goal is peace, not happiness. 9. There is no on like you. (it means that nobody can understand/relate to/empathize with you). 10. There is nothing more comforting than someone who is willing to listen to you wholeheartedly.
you’re right about all this stuff, especially i like part about respect. i realised it was so true, when my mom always tells me to treat myself the way i want others to treat me. ofc it may not work every time, but prioritising and keeping your own boundaries will never betray you, u’ll just feel more powerful and confident next time. thank you for telling such smart things,it’s always so interesting to watch,i feel like really participating too
The respect thing has been extremely difficult for me. I hate conflict and confrontation so I usually kinda just give in to what will make the other person happy. But you're right, having boundaries is so underrated and has made me much happier these past few months. And it makes me so happy to hear that you wanna participate, all I want these videos to do is spark conversation, so i really appreciate you sharing your thoughts
This was extremely insightful thank you so much I really needed the information about making a decision is not taking action i actually feel like that is eye opening
hello jacob thank you for uploading!! your videos are honestly some of my favorite,, I always enjoy listening what you have to say in every upload as you express yourself clearly and every piece of advice or stories from your experiences has enlightened me and helped me see certain things differently so once again thank you for having this channel 🙏🙏
Jacob, don’t take this the wrong way, but your videos have become my therapy. I’ve never trusted therapists after one broke the “confidentiality” rule back when I was 15. I’m so glad that I found your channel when I did. I found your channel when I felt like my life was FUCKED. And your videos have helped me more than you know! I always watch them the first time to listen closely and the second time to fall asleep to 😂
You are too sweet thank you so much. I love sharing what I've experienced and hearing that it's helped you in any capacity is so so amazing. I appreciate you always sharing your thoughts on my videos too, it seriously means a lot
Is peace not an aspect happiness? It’s kinda like telling someone to take the biggest slice on a pizza. Which is ironic because that in itself is like a slice of happiness.
You remind me of my best friend, I sometimes tend to take my fantasies too far and forget the actual reality of things to escape… and my best friend says it to me straight. I don’t need someone checking me, but it’s nice to have someone who’s not scared to be real.
That sounds like a great friend, my best friend is the same way and it’s made me more practical. But I’d be lying if I said I don’t enjoy letting my imagination run

I came across this video by choosing an ASMR video with my eyes closed under my recommended lol and im really glad i did. The topic of respect really resonated with me, as someone who is mexican, growing up i was taught that respect is extremely important. especially towards your parents/elders. But i was also taught to take the disrespect sitting down, from those same people, mind you. So self respect is something i had to teach myself, it was hard and im still learning what that means to me and those around me but the main take aways ive learned have been “Self respect is a form of self love” and “Respect and realism go hand in hand” but anyways, thank you for the wonderful video
Yeah that’s still my biggest struggle rn, I hate confrontation and I will do almost anything to avoid it. But every time I’ve made myself have those uncomfortable conversations I’ve felt so much better about myself afterwards. It’s so night and day
I just found this video and your channel and wow, maybe it comes naturally to you but either way, you are able to articulate your thoughts so well and it’s so very refreshing to listen to!! thank you for this video

A reminder for people who feel like they're stuck in the self improvement loop he mentioned, Gratitude is the most important thing. You can strive for better and be grateful for what it's taken you to get this far. You can also be grateful that you have things to improve about yourself because no one is 100% perfect. We are all learning about ourselves about others and about the world everyday so be grateful. acknowledge where you are accept who you are and be grateful of where you are today even if you don't think you deserve it
Thanks I really needed this. I used to be in therapy when I was younger and not doing well, now I'm doing way better but I'm so sad every time I get into a fight with my boyfriend or have a really bad anxious ADHD day and I just wish I had an outside perspective and some professional support. I reached out to a few people and got ghosted, but it's time to try again!

That's probably the hardest part of therapy, finding a good therapist who you click with and will really help you. I think it stops a lot of people from going, especially if the first time doesn't work out
Sometimes I am asked by folks “Should I leave this person I am involved with?” I used to attempt giving them an answer. Many years ago… Now after many years of guiding and helping others in a thing called recovery, I say, “I have no right to tell you what to do about such an important part of your life”. I explain to them to contemplate how the relationship is helping them or hindering them. Is it helping you improve your life or is it holding you back from improvement? I encourage them to take time to reflect and write about it. Of course, many times, I would like to say, “Get rid of the bum!” 😂 But alas, it is not my place.
It is soooo hard to try and be objective with somebody you can see is in a bad relationship. I used to try to give my two cents too, but after I went through my first breakup I kinda realized that I had to go through that experience and really make all the dumb mistakes I did in order to truly learn the lessons. So sometimes I feel like I’m being unhelpful when people ask for my opinion now but I think it’s better to be hands off
@@jacobdreamsasmr We are being super helpful and kind and showing respect by letting our acquaintance know that we have no right to advise on such a huge decision but we will be there in an indirect fashion. Listening, comforting, sharing our experience in such matters. I share a story about how someone gave me such advice and I had a resentment for following said advice. Never a dull moment when humans are involved. 😝
Listening to this has made me come to terms that I’m not some normal person like everyone makes me out to be. I have flaws, and it makes me sad realizing this. Maybe I got too caught up in others opinion about myself because it’s who I want to be.
I have along way to go! That is my life. Always another fish to fry. Happiness is fleeting. Inner peace and joy is where it is at. I am perpetually striving for perfection, and that is unattainable. But I do a mental exercise, envisioning a river and a raft docked at the river’s edge. I put my flawed thinking and any kooky behaviour on the raft and anyone who was affected by it. A gentle nudge by my foot and it floats away from me down the river. I pray that I completely release it and give it a wave goodbye. Visual stuff works for me. Often an amends is in order, frequently to my husband. TY for your reflections. I relate. Terri Jo from BC Canada
That’s a beautiful metaphor, I felt like I was really there w you on that dock. I’m working on letting go of stuff too, mostly just the day to day anxiety about being perfect myself
The truthful answer is having the ability to discuss aspects of your life in-depth with a fresh perspective, someone who isn’t a friend or whose thoughts aren’t directly influenced by your actions . They also have further techniques and methods they can utilize which can’t really be monitored/accurately carried out by someone who isn’t trained in that area.

I feel soooo far from wise, but with sharing my thoughts it's just practice. I mentioned writing in the video, that's helped a lot, but also having these kinds of conversations with my therapist or my friends, too. Also, reading, seeing the different ways people express ideas in books has helped me adopt some new ways of speaking and writing
I've been to therapy but it was a waste for me. If you are relationship oriented it might work for you since the relationship you build with the therapist is a crucial factor to its success.
Sir, I'm married and don't want him, but I was simply giving a compliment. I do it with gorgeous females and males just because I feel like it. You don't even know me to presume such a thing.
