    I'm 74, 2 artificial knees. 2 sets rods in back, 5 pinched nerves in neck, 42 surgeries. Still fish 1 - 2 times a month. Fish alone half the time when I can't get a partner. My drotto allows me to fish alone and is a big help when I have a partner. Highly Recommended!

    I've been researching this quite a bit... you're the only one who's suggested taking the handle off and showed hooking up the safety chain. That was really my only concern I wouldn't have room for it. Great video!

    Bought one two years ago it is a game changer. Not having to get feet wet in 40degree weather. I have a 22’ center console this latch irks better than expected. Love it!

    I installed one of these on my trailer with a 2012 Tracker 175 Pro Guide. It seems to be very finicky. It only latches some of the time. My eyelet is not a U-Bolt but a factory welded aluminum eyelet that is a bit bulky. Any tips or adjustments that could be made??

      Hello! Shoot us an email at support@drottoproducts.com and we'll send some tips your way, including some info on some new jaws that we have available that work better on thick aluminum bow eyes.

    Now the question is do I gotta put in a second hook at the front of the boat because of that latches how do I get the cable up there?

    • @officialdrotto
      @officialdrotto  3 месяца назад

      In most cases the winch strap and safety chain will still have enough room to connect into the bow eye alongside the latch jaws. But, if your winch hook is really big and won't fit, we suggest routing a smaller s-hook through the strap and using it instead. It's important to continue using the strap and chain! If you need help, email us at support@drottoproducts.com.

    One boat I operate is a Rinker 282 with a windlass. About 3 ton's. I like this system and don't have a problem with the price. Just not seeing any bigger heavier boat's in any of these video's. I know this is rated for 7K Lbs so I would be getting very close. Can this handle it? Anybody have any thoughts

    Bought this a month ago. Haven’t installed it yet but right out right out of the box, the jaws don’t open when I pull the handle. Almost like the springs are not strong enough to pull it open or the parts are binding. Any ideas? Should I disassemble and put marine grease on the surfaces that need to slide?

    • @officialdrotto
      @officialdrotto  Год назад

      Hi, Very odd and sorry to hear it. The jaws should open very quickly and easily when you pull the handle. Did you purchase it new from us at drottoproducts.com or through another retailer? Email you contact info, and a video of the issue if possible, to support@drottoproducts.com and we'll help you out. We can get a replacement to you if it's a defect.

    May seem like a silly question but, can this be installed (enough wiggle room) with the boat on the trailer? Also, looks like you had a 1875 Cross-over. What size fit the 1875 Crossover? Thanks for the informative video..

    • @officialdrotto
      @officialdrotto  Год назад +1

      Hello! The XD375 model fits the newer Crossovers, and any of the Shorelandr trailers with the larger Profile series winch stands. And yes the latch can be installed with the boat on the trailer!. If you have a railer troller, just keep the winch hook attached and carefully roll the boat back so that you have room to install the latch. If you have a bunk trailer and an adjustable winch stand, you can slide the entire winch stand forward to install, and slide it back into place and align with the bow eye. Email us at support@drottoproducts.com if you have any other questions!

    OK, I should you watch a video all the way but you should’ve showed us how the wind works and how it locks when you use the witch because you can be in a situation where there’s no water tablet. I’ve been voting for 30 years and it’s happened a whole bunch of times the tide goes out. A big windstorm comes in this thing and other things like it, but they work only when conditions are perfectly aligned. I hope you sell very nice. Build these questions I’d like to have answered.

    There's not enough clearance to attach both the Drotto and the old crank attachment to the attachment ring. There is enough to attach the safety chain... is this sufficient? Or do I need to install a bigger attachment ring??

    • @officialdrotto
      @officialdrotto  Год назад +1

      Hey Stephen, They make some of those winch hooks awful big, so it can definitely be a competition for space sometimes! If you can't fit the winch hook, we commend getting a new towing-rated locking S Hook (like this one www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/CURT/C81840.html ) and routing it through the winch strap or the hole at the base of the big winch hook. With that new s hook connected to the strap, you can winch your but up tight. And there's likely room for both of those smaller hooks to fit side-by-side in the bow eye. If there's only room for one, you can hook the chain hook to the strap too, just as a backup to grab everything. Email support@drottoproducts.com if you need any other help!

    Is it possible to release the latch before the boat floats, on the occasions it's preferable to float the boat off ? Seems it would be great while landing, but if not able to unlatch dry, then it means extra steps when launching alone. When fishing early or late season, when the docks are out, I need to be able to float the boat off while staying in the truck. I run bunks, so the boat sliding off early isn't an issue. Thanks

    • @officialdrotto
      @officialdrotto  Год назад +2

      Yes, the latch jaws can be opened on dry land as long as the bow eye isn't pressed up against the back of the jaws. However, as a safety precaution we only recommend unlocking the jaws once the boat is in water. You can also hook a rope or long dog lead to the end of the release handle and pull to release from the dock. Hope that answers your question!

    Can the boat still be winched up manually if it can not be powered on to the trailer?

    • @officialdrotto
      @officialdrotto  Год назад +2

      Hi Ehron. Yes it can still be manually winched into place and will lock into the jaws when the winch is tightened. We suggest getting enough moving speed when driving onto the trailer to use the boat's momentum to lock into the jaws, instead of powering hard up the trailer to latch.

    Is Drotto's the same as the Boat2Trailer latches or are they different?? Thanks!

    • @officialdrotto
      @officialdrotto  Год назад +2

      Hi Jay, They are very different. Drotto is the original designer and manufacturer of the Catch-N-Release boat latch, and Boat2Trailer is an online retailer who sells relabeled versions of another brand of latch. You can learn more at the last FAQ here: drottoproducts.com/pages/frequently-asked-questions
      And email us at support@drottoproducts.com if you have any specific questions about differences!

    I recently purchased one and installed it last night. I installed it with the boat on the trailer, winch mount is moveable on my shorlander trailer. After installed pushed it back to boat to latch. I noticed the winch mount was moved ahead maybe 2 inches. If I would of took boat off and installed the dtotto on winch mount where it was my boat would of hung off the back of the trailer. Shouldn’t the transom with a heavy motor on it be supported with the trailer under it? I use a transom saver as well. I was just wondering??

    • @officialdrotto
      @officialdrotto  Год назад +1

      Hi Gus! Yes, some boats might shift back about 2 inches on the trailer after the latch is installed. You did the right thing adjusting the winch stand to line up the latch with your bow eye while keeping your boat in the same position. For anyone who doesn't have an adjustable winch stand that might be concerned with the boat hanging too far back on their trailer, or just need the extra space for storage, we sell a forward bracket here: drottoproducts.com/products/forward-bracket-for-latch-adjustment Thanks for sharing your experience and tips!!

    No, how does this work? If you can’t power load you know most launches around the United States no power loading and what if I have a different size roller it doesn’t take a three-quarter.
