    Thanks so much Ben! I’ve been surfing years and always had fair but inconsistent duck dives. The piece about going back a bit with your hands I had never heard anyone mention before this was such a game changer! 🎉

      Hey Mike!! Stoked it was helpful, and yeah 100% as I was learning when I was younger I struggled and this cue I felt just made sense to get your body over the tail, appreciate it!!! 🙏🙏🤙

    Thanks man! Watching this after the abrupt realization of the fact that my duck dive skills are terrible. Big south swell in Newport Beach last week nearly washed me straight into the jetty. I’m glad I came out safe and sound but was a super close call as I took 5 8 ft waves on the head and ended up within 10 ft of the end of the jetty and inhaled quite a bit of white wash foam. Going to just paddle and duck dive until I feel I belong out there in the bigger swells where you can’t survive without the endurance and fundamentals 🤙❤️

    I appreciate the tips to shorten my learning curve. I could scoop the nose under, but managing the tail was a problem before this. You mentioned the rearward weight shift in an earlier vid, help a lot!

    Yes, the duck dive is tricky on big waves, but the big waves are even trickier for me on my 9’4”! In any case, I’m learning my abilities and limits, and this is still easier for me than a turtle roll. Thanks for this, Ben, and Happy New Year!🏄‍♂️🤙🎉

    • @BenConsidine
      @BenConsidine 6 месяцев назад +1

      100% , I would so in most scenarios where the waves get really big for longboarding the turtle roll is most suitable, I can still only get my longboard down a certain depth and if I try it on a wave too big a get rolled pretty good 😂
      Happy New Year!!!

      No worries at all! I hope it’s been able to help - yeah it can definitely be tricky getting the bigger boards under, these techniques I’ve found can help, but some boards may also be just a bit too much to get down haha

    Hi Ben, thanks so much for the tips. I really appreciate your approach to showing what you personally have found works rather than following the cookie cutter duck dive tutorials out there, I have searched long and hard to try to find out what I may be doing wrong with mine and the chest over knee tip is the first time I have ever heard someone explaining the movement this way, which makes way more sense! Will you be doing any shortboard tutorials in the future? Turns, Carves etc? I think there would be a huge following if so!

    • @BenConsidine
      @BenConsidine 5 месяцев назад

      Hey! So stoked you found it helpful, and I can definitely relate! I struggled when I was a kid with duckdiving heaps because everyone would just say press into the tail but it wasn't working haha, then when I finally got it right I knew my chest was coming over the knee and I couldn't understand why noone had told me that, so thats what I teach people now haha!
      I'd love to do some more shortboard/midlength content - my specialty is definitely longboarding but enjoy riding everything! Really appreciate your support, and if you did have any further questions at all or wanted more depth/clarity on anything please don't hesitate to message - email is longboardcoaching@outlook.com if you did :) yewww!

    Still unable to duck dive a bigger board like a mid or longboard
    Can’t seem to be able to push them, and one side before the other seems unnatural 😅
    Must try harder

    • @BenConsidine
      @BenConsidine 5 месяцев назад

      Its a weird one to learn, oftentimes I feel like people may try to push the board down too far and force it, so potentially try and see how it goes if its less deep?
      I hope it is able to help your surfing - If you have any further questions at all or wanted more depth/clarity on anything please don't hesitate to message - email is longboardcoaching@outlook.com if you did :)

    Great vid What do you think of the side scoop on a longboard ive heard a few people say sink one rail as far as it can go then side scoop to push the other under

      @BenConsidine 5 месяцев назад

      Hey! From what I can understand I think that would work also, maybe similar mechanics to what I'm talking about but I could be misunderstanding a bit there, if you've found something that works though go for it :))if you have any other questions at all or wanted more depth/clarity on anything please don't hesitate to message - email is longboardcoaching@outlook.com if you did :) yeww cheers cara!

    i'm 56kg (123lbs) and my soft top is 40 litters, after many hours of trying I almost did a successful duckdive ONCE ! it took alot of energy and my forearms were burning, but I'm wondering if it's even possible due to my weight/board ratio, should I keep trying and improve or just give up and get a new board ?
