  • The one sample t-test compares the mean of a sample that you select to a population mean. We will do the one sample t-test in SPSS. Along the way, we refer to the five steps of hypothesis testing and Student's t table to learn how to interpret the findings. This example uses fictitious data about indoor gardening and a celebrity to illustrate the basic t test comparing a sample to a population.
This video teaches the following concepts and techniques:
How to set up and run a one-sample t test in SPSS
    IBM SPSS Statistics software
Link to a Google Drive folder with all of the files that I use in the videos including the Effect Size Calculator for t Tests and datasets. As I add new files, they will appear here, as well.

The best of statistics tutorials I've ever seen and learned from! SECOND TO NONE! Much much better than the instructor I took the course with at one of the top universities in the world!

Well, R (the statistical program) is a free download, the "RStats" in some of the videos is unrelated to R, just a place I used to work. Hope that answers

What do you type if you're given its 70%?

    • @ResearchByDesign

If you are examining the differences between proportions in populations, you would not use a t-test. It compares means. Instead use a Two-Sample Proportion Test. Good luck with your research.
