    • @ettaetta439
      @ettaetta439 3 месяца назад +22

      @@UoooooooooooohIt's kind of both. He would've likely preferred to have been a grieving husband in his circles rather than a divorcing one, because of people of faith tend to look down on divorce.
      In faith circles, murder may be looked down upon but the husband's ownership and power over the wife is revered. Despite the obvious contradiction, his emphasis on his faith makes sense in terms of how women are viewed as property in the Bible. People of faith like him tend to believe that since the husband has complete authority over his wife, that also includes her very life. I see this sentiment a lot in Catholic circles governed by abusive people.
      We also can't deny it was about his reputation. Who wants to be the guy who had an affair and got a divorce? So, it was likely a potpurry of reasons.

      Religious guilt and shame is a hell of a drug my dude. There are a lot of stories that are just as wild as this because the deeper you go into religion, the harder it is imagine yourself *not* being part of that community. I read/listened to one story of a girl who was thrown by her hyper religious family into a literal blizzard in her pajamas because she got outed as LGBT by her little brother. If she hadn't had a burner phone on her person at the time she'd have frozen to death under her family's porch. Those parents were so toked up on their standing and image in the church that they couldn't fathom losing an ounce of that position for having a 'sinful child' that they didn't bother to think of what everyone around them ( including that church ) would think of actual child murder.

    • @tangentartists6876
      @tangentartists6876 3 месяца назад

      Its a cult. You can't lose face in a cult, because if they don't close ranks to protect you, you are persona non grata in the community. You've only ever KNOWN this community because you were told all your life that outsiders are BAD and should be shunned (unless you're recruiting them). Now your boss, your coworkers, your kids teacher, your bartender, and even your family and friends are not talking to you and hinting you should leave town. You're the outsider and without any of the supports you received because you were a big dog in cultland. To narcissists (who always like to shit where they eat) murder seems like an awfully easy workaround in comparison to owning up and facing the consequences.

Hearing about suicide in a video is not necessarily going to drive anyone else to do it, and even if it would bleeping the word certainly isn't going to stop it. Meanwhile, isn't there evidence that mass violence does actually lead to more mass violence in the form of copy cats etc? So either way, it sounds like we should censor both or neither and I come down on neither because censorship is bad -- especially when we know its just to please corporate advertisers.

    The amount of times I've heard "deeply religious" or "went to church" as a way of trying to paint a murderer or rapist as a good person on the outside is beyond count at this point. Not only is it obviously completely meaningless as to what kind of person someone is, but when you consider how religious behaviour and religions all work, it's really MORE of a sign of being unstable, not less.
