God I love those ultra rare moments when you're the only one in the ride and you get that more personal experience from the cast member. One time me and my wife were the only ones on the Jungle Cruise and we got the "vip tour" where she just basically showed us all the secrets and how certain things functioned on the ride.

This probably has to be one of the saddest cases of defunct rides ever because I think Body Wars could've had so much potential! The concept of this ride is a unique and really cool idea for a motion simulator, and it looks much more intense than Star Tours which is something I'm interested in riding in. Unfortunately though I never got to ride this ride when I was younger.

I went to Epcot in the late 90s and rode Body Wars. I quite liked it (I was into simulators back then) but I remember it being quite rough, more bumps and bangs than in Star Tours. I think overall it was a bit underwhelming for people.
Regarding the low attendance issues, I think one of the main problems was the location. It was hidden away at the back of a pavilion, like it was some minor attraction. It must've been expensive to develop and build so they should've made for effort to promote it and show it off. A lot of the people visiting Epcot probably had no idea it was even there.

Personally as a Bio-Major, would've loved a ride like this. It's a shame the Wonders of Life was closed by the time I finally convinced my parents to go to Disney World.
Honestly they should consider reopening it, maybe with maybe a Big Hero 6 theme (after all Baymax was a nursing robot). If I had to set the story, it'd be this: On the anniversary of Tadashi's death they open up the Tadashi Hamada Medical Research Center dedicated to the pioneering of new medical technology and education. Hiro, Baymax and the rest of the team show up to pay their respects, tour the facilities and unveil some of the new advancements some of the students there had been working on to the public and potential future students who want to apply.
Otherwise now that Body Wars is extinct and Honey I Shrunk the Kids is now just about an extinct property, I'd love for them to try to explore an Ant-man themed ride similar to the one they're building in Hong Kong...that is if they can ever get whatever mess they have going on with IOA sorted out.

I must have ridden this in the early 2000's, I guess on its decline. I was with a friend, and the simulator we were in was maybe about 3/4 full. The attraction started normally but maybe 2/3 into it, the projection stopped. And we stopped. We waited for some announcement telling us not to move - but none came. Waited for Cast Member to come in. Nothing. We were belted in to our seats so no one could get up. After about five minutes, someone noticed an "Emergency" button on one of the walls. However, we were all belted in - except for a little five year-old girl who easily slipped out from her seatbelt. Everyone was telling her to go press the button. She was scared to, though. She walked slowly to it, went to push the button. Everyone's saying, Yes! Go! Press it!" And she does and a LOUD siren goes off - so she stops and the siren stops. So we start yelling at her that she was right, she did good - and to press it again but this time hold it. She did. The alarm only sounded for a short time. A Cast Member walked and and, as if nothing had happened, said, "Thank you for riding Body Wars; please exit..." Blah blah blah.... So, we all just walked out. It was so bizarre.

I rode Body Wars, once in March 1994 (when it was crowded and there was around a half-hour wait) and again in December 2004 when the attraction was demoted to seasonal status, when the wait was just several minutes, which was big for its time since it was the week between Christmas and New Year's. The first time felt very frightening, but when I came back as a young adult, the sting had really lessened.

That's what happens when you let a splinter fester untreated, a slow painful death. Body Wars was always a personal favorite of mine. I actually enjoyed it more than the original incarnation of Star Tours. I found the movements to be more realistic and loved the heartbeat scene! With all the emphasis on nostalgia these days, I can't believe there or no nod, mentions or Easter eggs of this attraction anywhere or how few people have even heard of it before.

For some reason, I understood that we had been shrunk and entered a human body.

The whole pavilion was also extremely crowded at the time from what I remember. This was before Test Track opened which became Epcot's #1 ride which probably contributed towards Wonders of Life closing.

When I went in the 90s and early 2000s, there were usually solid lines for it, especially in busy seasons. Not hours long, but 30-45 minutes.
It was also a great Epcot-themed technology world ride. I hope Disney gets a biology-themed area up soon in Epcot, with a good ride in it.

Speaking of the effect... I was SO RELIEVED whenever I learned about this ride maybe 2 months ago. I used to go to Disneyworld very often whenever I was like between the ages of 4 and 6 or so, maybe 7? My grandma drove a bus for Disney so she was able to get in 4 people free; if I remember correctly. I have so many vivid memories of these times. I'd split off with my aunt and uncle, who are only 13 and 15 years older than me respectively. And one time while I'm off with them I have this gapped memory of buying one of those multi color flashlights that extend like lightsaber outside of a ride (I actually picture a gray pyramid without a point) and then next I'm in a seat next to my aunt and uncle and the ride has us in a vein removing a splinter. I think it couldn't get pulled or whatever so I believe they had to try to break it down?
Growing up I always had all these memories from Disney and never knew if this was a real memory cause I never saw this ride again nor had any possible clue of what it could possibly be.
Sometimes while talking with friends, maybe childhood stories or we'll be talking about our trips to theme parks and I'll bring up this memory and how I have absolutely no idea what ride it could possibly be and absolu-tely nobody had ever seen nor heard about this ride. I was honest to god beginning to believe this was a false memory! And my parents always told me growing up that they're astonished with my memory and my ability to remember some of the most random minute things in memories that would always reassure them that it's an authentic memory and not me parroting back some story they've told..
And then I came across this video... Lol I was so happy to find out it was real. It felt crazy finally having a support for that memory

We all liked it, but yeah, it was a bit intense. I remember we went on it again in 1997 and 1999, and liked it better than Star Tours (as a family, we weren't interested in Star Wars, but we liked the ride and the air conditioning break). These days, I love Star Tours (and Star Wars), but I would really love to ride this again for the nostalgia factor.
