I'm happy to have an independent woman as long as there's a good loving relationship together. It's good for both to work and earn as when a man only one works then the one not working maybe more attracted to the money you earn and neglect building a relationship on true love
To be honest, I would rather be in love with my equal, someone who has high standards and values as myself. As an independent woman, I wouldn't want to have someone in my life taking me 5-10 years backwards because they are trying to put their life together. I'm not criticising that some men nowadays are not positioning themselves in a way our fathers did. They were the head of the house, and our mothers were helpers like the bible states. No wonder men of today feel independent women are more masculine. Why not if there are no men to fit in.
You are absolutely right. Women continue to enjoy emancipation legally, socially, economically and politically. For this reason, modern men are having to get used to this new reality in which some women are actually achieving great things compared to women from our parents' generation. No man should feel intimidated by a powerful woman. Let her choose someone compatible with her status. However, status is a transitory reality. The BIG question is, will you and your chosen man be able to be there for each other when life happens, eg, when you lose your independence due to accidents or illnesses or changes in your work or business? A good number have been abandoned by their partners when they needed them the most. Ukabatwa cancer iwewe, muface iyeye hauchamuone futi coz he has many options you see. It's not his fault, it is what it is.
@PK74681 Yes, that's the reality of today's modern world. Women are stepping up and advancing in all areas. Now, the truth about love and dating struggles for independent black African women, when you're aboard, a lot of African men are already married with their wives ( I mean those from the age of 30/40years & upwards) and those that left their wives back home are the ones who tend to prey on the vulnerability of women by lying to them & stringing them on until they achieve their goals. However, if you find someone who is single and you get married, and then in the future something happens, like you mentioned, things like falling sick and perhaps even losing your job. Yes, that's noone's fault it's natural & it's bound to happen, but again that's like a test to see if this person loved you genuinely and unconditionally or they were one foot in & one foot out. It shouldn't be about having other options, that's why when two are married, "it's for better or worse and in sickness and in health." And not about having other options.

@@charitybanda4008You have good values. I appreciate and respect that. Most women are hard hearted these days.
