Guys. The clapping is so weak because they don't have a house mic (audience mic). The only mic is the pair you can see right in front of them, pointing at them, not the audience. These mics are designed to not catch as much sound behinds them as in front, so the audience will sound weak as oppose to TV shows or other larger production where they bother to put audience mics.
It made me so angry when Jake pronounced Bach wrong. Then it turned out to be a joke. And then it turned out the piece was actually by Vivaldi. This was an emotional rollercoaster.

Beth Belle How do I explain to the people walking by in the street that no, I'm not going insane in my kitchen, I'm just laughing maniacally at a tenor in a barbershop quartet making whale noises for a solid minute?
I joined the society in 1971 and have seen all the great quartet but these guys are diff and exciting . the chords are outlandish but new. the BHS IS IN good hands for the future
What a delight! These gentlemen created the sounds of a big band orchestra combined with the fun of a circus. Great energy, great songs, and a great vocal combination.
i don't know whats funnier, jake talking to joey while hes doing his emotional bit or watching ryan try not to laugh while its going on. also ryan's solo line at 30:22 is absolutely the highlight of this number
The piece "by Bach" is actually an arrangement of Concerto in D minor by Vivaldi for organ, and as it has been re-arranged it, it's effectively an arrangement of Vivaldi, harder to make a gag out of Vivaldi's name though
Pretty certain the mispronunciation and the miscrediting was a part of the 'I got my degree in performance music, I think I know what I'm talking about' gag.
2:44 cool overtone moment!!! they're singing D, F#, B, E from low to high, so the root, maj3rd, add6, and add9, but there's a very strong A overtone in the MIDDLE of the chord, so the A overtone is actually sitting between the F# and B, because it's specifically the 2nd overtone over the root D being brought out by the rest. Also lots of other overtone goodness that's harder to explain but boils down to the effectiveness of a stacked 4ths voicing like the F#-B-E in that chord
We did the best we could with what we had. The mics themselves were fine, but the guys at the sound board had them just a bit too hot so they peaked at the loudest volumes. Then the battery died on my good camera and I had to switch to the backup camera which we were using for streaming but was only SD. Sorry!
AS long they sing and have Ryan,,,,,,he is is a great baritone .....and let's face it he is pretty hot....as are Jax, Jake & Joey...but Ryan is hot and does the taxes!!
I as a German citizen have to say that hot dog does not equal bratwurst. We eat hot dogs too any they are the same. Bratwurst is something different. I can't even tell you the difference between the hot dog sausage and the bratwurst sausage but it's different. Bratwurst comes usually with a typical German brötchen and not with this sweet tasting white bread that you use when making hot dogs. And you only put ketchup, mustard or even both on top of the bratwurst. Nothing like pickles or stuff like that. The sausage from a hot dog is much thinner than a bratwurst. And that are all the differences I can thing of right now. Thanks for coming to my TED talk about the differences between a hot dog and a bratwurst.
It feels like joeys stuttering and stamering is a little too real. Like in other shows he is more comedic in the timing but something feels off with it. That being said thes guys rock i am so glad they were my intro to the bhs scene
There were 3 cameras, a Panasonic 1080i handycam from the late 2010s, a Gopro Hero session, and the backup camera was a Sony Handycam with only DVD resolution. Unfortuntely the SD card of the Panasonic filled up or the battery died 2/3 of the way through, which is why the quality dips when going to the Sony. These were my personal camera and I'm not a filming professional, I was also singing in the Statesmen and was not paid for AV services, so I was doing this all on my own. Thankful I was able to get what I could. Sorry it wasn't up to par but its all I had.
idk if it's the mics or what but their dynamics in this show feel kinda weak? especially compared to some other recordings from around this time. I think it might be the venue? But idk it bothered me a bit. It kinda made the whole show feel a bit low energy? Idk i love these guys so I watched the whole set regardless but,, yeah thought that was weird
It is indeed Concerto in D minor by Vivaldi (RV 565, Op. 3, No. 11), starting from the Allegro section partway through the first movement. ruclips.net/video/Qe-dimakSco/видео.html
sorry dude - this was recorded at a high school auditorium with their own equipment and my mics. the mix is clean but I was not running the board - it was school tech staff. There was also no house mic.
That explains a lot actually, I was a little harsh lol. My main gripe is the clipping, that always ruins a great performance’s recording. Not having a house mic hurts too. Adding in some of that room sound for both the crowd and the quartet is subtle but it makes a huge difference. Love NF4

The fact that Jake was trying to button his suit all the show is cracking me up.

I agree entirely. Judges seem to be a bit skeptical though. I personally can't get enough of these guys.
Aaaah! I need more barbershop renditions of baroque pieces! (I never thought I'd ever say those words)
Look up The Swingle Singers. It’s not strictly barbershop, but it is baroque and classical a cappella.
23:07 "only shooting stars..." the change up hit me right in the feels
Hit you right in the feels didn't it?

honestly my favorite quartet

What a pretentious douche XD
I wouldn't be surprised if that's a part of the joke
Pretty certain the mispronunciation and the miscrediting was a part of the 'I got my degree in performance music, I think I know what I'm talking about' gag.
I stg every time I listen to these guys they put the biggest smile on my face! They are so good!
I can watch this all day.
God 45 minutes.....That made my day!
Should I be thankful for the quarantine because I found this?
Very jazzy and syncopated..rangy too.. very skilled!
I'm so excited to come across this recording of the fugue--saw them do it live last summer and have been wanting to listen again ever since.
Love these guys so much
The tiny violins for the Bach Sebastian Batch piece XD
Just great harmonies!!!😊

Ri-right, sure, sure, but um, what? 😂
The only reason this video doesn't have enough views is due to technical limitations (some cameras and mics are inadequate).
We did the best we could with what we had. The mics themselves were fine, but the guys at the sound board had them just a bit too hot so they peaked at the loudest volumes. Then the battery died on my good camera and I had to switch to the backup camera which we were using for streaming but was only SD. Sorry!
In some ways the limitations make it more endearing, reminds me of old film recordings of quartets from the 60s or 70s.
thank you so much for uploading this. i love them so much
I love these here boys
"Ryan's the one who does our taxes"
I’m a big fan of Ryan. Great voice, very good dancer, so comfortable with himself on stage.❤

29 minutes, that Storm Front reference!
23:57 for a WHALE of a joke Joey made
He’s flexing on us lmao
They deserve a better crowd than that XD Pretty cold throughout.
U G H right?
I laughed and clapped louder alone at home than the entire audience put together... Kind of sad.
I thought the exact same thing.
Nah, there just wasn't a house mic so you couldn't hear 'em.
Exactly My thoughts. :'(
36:40 . that scream. That is meme potential. Someone make that a thing.

The whale sounds make my cats run I don't think they like that
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think anything would run, hide, or swim very fast, if faced by a drunken whale telling a bad Joke! 😁
I thought it was a good joke, but am very impressed with all the sounds Joey can make! Great little addition for the quartet.
Nice video!
That low note at 3:58 though
And even a semitone lower at 33:00
Bragtime man really said semitone lol

19:45 The one time that transition doesn't land.

The fisheye lense is irritating.
Its a Gopro mounted on the front row.
Jackson is definitely the cute one!
Tough crowd huh
Anyone know which specific fugue by Bach they sang?
If you look up above in the notes you will see that it’s actually an arrangement of Concerto in D minor by Vivaldi, for organ.

Right. The mics were just a tad hot at the board and clipped at peak volumes. Sorry!
