that's easier to say than to do ! and people who step out can be left completly isolated from the rest of the community and soon foind themselves ressourcesless having lost their very reasons for living ! I started reading Fabrice Nidal's book on Trungpa , who says that though he never met him , he finds in a group run by his students better ways to connect directly with the essence of buddhism teachings as not a religion but a way of living and bing authentic , than when he goes tu some traditionnal " Dharma centers " ...and I can understand that very well in the situation where i find myself ! because as soon as a westerners says he or she can't credit a " lama " 's attitude , than one is told that one is ignorant and grasp at self and phenomena : whereas You can discuss on children 's education and what's wrong with the world without having me telling You You grasp at phenomena . Nidal write : " a great spiritual teacher abandon all conventions and does not need any recognition . he is ready du take any risk to help his students realise awakeness . he challenges constantly his students to ge beyond their limited perceptions " ....and to say the truth , I dont know why i have problem with my own teacher who is from that type, beyond conventions and beyond wish of recognition .....just because we both are connected to one very traditional lama who once told me " You should think of" my position" ! and an other one who rather embroided his own stories and memoires , than face the reality of his condition " : and i refuse to credit both of them . What other problem do i have with my lama our different cultural backgrounds and perception of them braught plenty of misunderstandings , but that's it : i just refuse to believe that those two ways can neither lead them nor anyone following them in their mistakes can lead them nor anyone to liberation . Period ! I remember years bck finding myself in USA and writing to Trungpa rinpoche to tell him I was a student of these two teachers , before my real teacher , and i got a message back that he would be interested to see a person who was a student the combiantion of these two teachers : I had not understood why at the time because my perception of them was different then , than when i came to see them leaving more closely and could step back long enough to have better perception of the reality of what the perceiver I was was perceiving ! So there is a gap between stepping out of a path leading no where ...and connecting with a teacher such as " mine " who is always challenging and searching what's wrong with his students .....while enjoying the company of fools abusing others ! the relative " i " exists in the values we stick to .
