Thanks. Looking to buy a Tundra soon. Never had a 4x4 before and wanted to see how to properly shift. Just to double check and ensure the 4H & 4L engage without issues 👍
Thank you for a very informative, but also short video. Much easier to watch and reference back in case I missed anything, like being able to engage 2wd to 4h under 62mph.
Thanks so much for the clear instructions, i have been looking and couldn't find a video on why my Sequoia beeps when i put it into 4L. Thanks a bunch!
I watched a lot of explanation videos before watching this one. Yours was the best by far. Have you ever heard a loud clunk noise when switching from 4H back into 2WD??
Thanks for the video! I was trying to engage 4x4 on my truck it worked fine but when I was fixing to put it back on 2wd it kinda locked the wheels and I thought that was weird so I looked up and saw this video and idk if I did it wrong at first
I have a 2019 Tundra 1794.. i followed that procedure to a T.. however, going from 4wd low back into 4wd high, i experienced some very loud gears grinding and a click back into 4wd high. I waited a couple days and tried it again with the same result. Is still under factory warranty, contacting my dealer soon.
My 2017 Tundra has had issues with the four-wheel-drive since I had it brand new. My truck has 59,750 miles on it right now roughly 250 miles from running out of warranty. I hope they can fix it under warranty otherwise it does not like to go in and out of four-wheel-drive high or low and back to drive again. Sometimes it even grinds almost like there’s gear spinning and going against teeth or something.
I have an appointment with the dealer today for them to look at it. They said it would take a couple hours. Hopefully it’s one of those things that could get fixed with a part that they have in stock
Similar problem with my 2015 Tundra with 58k miles. 4HI wont engage unless I turn off and on the vehicle with on 4HI mode. Same process with the 4LO, but in neutral when turning off and on. From switching to 4LO to 2WD it disengages fine. I need a new battery hopefully that fixes before switching that solenoid.
Thank you for the no nonsense info! Fine point. I think After you switch to 4hi while driving UNDER 62. You can then go faster than 62. You just can’t change from 2 to 4 or 4 to 2 when driving higher than 62. Is that right? The manual isn’t perfectly clear.
I heard your not supposed to use 4 wheel drive on dry paved roads. Only slippery roads or roads with loose gravel etc. but I also heard you can run into issues if you don’t use your 4 wheel drive at least a little bit a few times a year. I live in Texas though and we only get slippery roads maybe twice a year.
As long as you are on a nice long stretch of straight road, switching in to 4H won't hurt anything. Just as long as you are straight and not turning. I have a stretch of road I do this on to engage the system during the dry months if I am not off road or in snow.👍 I do it about once a month or so.
Thanks so much ! my car wash shop turned it on by accident and I couldn’t figure out how to turn it off. I appreciate you recording this video.

Peace and Blessings Bruh. I recently bought a used TSS. It's my first 4x4. Thanks for explanation!

This is somewhat correct, to go from 2wd to 4hi the vehicle should be in motion under 62, Toyota cautions against switching to 4hi while stationary.
Nice thanks. Bought a 2021 sequoia. Basically same as tundra and you just saved me an hour from reading the manual.
Very good video. Just bought my Tundra Trail Edition. Thank you
Thank you, simplicity to the finest. I definitely needed this info, because I took a dumb pill today, lol
Thank you for making this short, sweet and to the point.
Short and straight to the point thank you!
Thanks man I was wondering why it was beeping lol... Just pick this Toyota up today

4L is used at very low speeds. Like a crawl.

Figured if I went this long with it broke and I can go longer but I’m just worried about the warranty running out due to mileage.
@@montanaplease What ended up being the problem with your 4 wheel drive?
Some Solenoid thing.
About $1000 if it hadn’t have been under warranty at the time

Thank you for the explanation! This help a lot!

Does your tundra make a humming noise when you put it into 4 LO?
thank u, very helpful
Perfect Video 👌
Thank you brother.
You are welcome
Appreciate it!
Does 4Low locks rear differential??? What is the difference between 4L and 4H? Thanks
Thanks video was helpful
thank you!
You should make a video on how fast you can drive on low
Trucks are expensive these days. I’m not going to take a chance on breaking it 😂
@@weldingandstuff lol good answer

Good question. Says to switch under 62 but once on 4H, if you can drive over 62 or not!
Can you make small turns at a crawl speed in 4L? Or is 4L straight lines only even off-road?
Very helpful. Thank you
You saved me
short n simple
Good video
Thank you man
You're welcome!
Thank you
Great video
Thanks!!
Thank you! Helped
What if your light just keeps blinking?
Muchas gracias 🙂

Thank you sir, 👍
My 2010 Tundra has a Flashing 4H/4L light blinking on the dash. Can’t get it to go into 4H.
Any one able to trouble shoot with me on this?
Have you tried putting in 2W and start driving about 20mph and then switch it into 4H while driving
Thanks man🙏🏼👍😊
Perfect and THANKS for this. Now, could you teach the rest of the world how to make a clear video like this? lol
Awesome
So there's no minimum speed to change from 2H to 4H and back?
No; only maximum speed
It kept blinking even after driving
Helpful, thank you.
Thank you
Good video
