  • The Cnicht horseshoe is a great walk, not too difficult, with fantastic views. Known as the Welsh matterhorn due to it's shape when viewed from the SW, at 689m/2260ft, it's not the highest in the area. But a great little scramble at the top makes it a fun walk. A mixed bag weatherwise, but it was great to get out.

I was up there 2 days ago!!! Great to see you putting up some great footage. Full of flying ants when I got there!!! Plus all the Duke of Edinburgh were up too! Super film! Paul

I absolutely loved this video, for 3 reasons - 1. Cnicht is an amazing mountain, often quiet with wild feel and remote feel, excellent views..
    2. Great remote/ off the tourist path solo climb with all the problems that come with it - foot ended up in bog, ‘I ended up in the middle of nowhere’ , let’s go that way and see what happens!
    3. Shared frustrations of my local stomping ground of the Brecon Beacons- ‘coat on coat off ‘ and ‘ narrow single track lane, basically praying after driving over half a mile with no passing places that you don’t meet anyone! 😂
Love it and can relate to it all!
Cool views and nice wild walk, weather gives added atmosphere too 👌

Cheers Adam, it is such an underrated mountain. I always try to give an honest opinion, and not hide what I’ve done wrong, as I think it is much more helpful to others doing the walks. I think a lot of the problems that mountain rescue have to deal with, is down to social media posts making out out everything is easy. So thanks for your comments, appreciate it. 👍

@@OutandaboutwithSpencer That’s an interesting theory and got to agree, so many social media videos make things look so easy and often in perfect weather conditions. I’ve made 2 real balls ups so far in my time walking, both in the Brecon Beacons, which compared to north wales in many respects is easier terrain (albeit different) and that’s making mistakes with reasonable experience behind me! Interestingly both mistakes actually resulted from complacency and over confidence! Anyway take care , have a good week

Cheers guys, the route is a lot quieter than doing it from Croesor. I didn’t see anyone until approaching the summit, and I had forgotten how good the views are. 👍
