Cumbria Way Day 5
The final day, and some decent weather. Some say this is a boring day, and some of it is, but there is some nice scenery in parts. After doing no training at all for this walk, I was pleased to complete it, and ended up walking just over 80 miles.

It was great to be back out in the mountains at last. My Plantar Fascilitis has cleared up, no issues with it on this walk for the first time in months. It was very windy on top, so apologies for the audio quality at times.

First time out for months, with a change of plan due to the weather. Instead of a scramble, we headed to Dinorwic quarry. With Koos, the scrambling dutchman. Check out his channel... Clogs on the mountain.

A really tough day in the mountains. After not sleeping very well and getting up at 5.20am, I was sitting in the car thinking about a nice full english breakfast. Which made the following even harder, one of those days where I just wasn't feeling it. Awful weather, wet conditions made the ascent of Milestone gully a tough start to the day. North ridge and North tower and a descent of West gully...

Back in the Ogwen valley after far too long. A really tricky scramble up the north ridge in icy conditions. Great to see the first snow of winter. Excuse the camera action at times, clunky gloves get in the way!

A full (wet!) circuit of Derwent Water, taking in Catbells. A great walk while on holiday in Keswick. Stunning views from the summit.
Cnicht
Просмотров 469Год назад
The Cnicht horseshoe is a great walk, not too difficult, with fantastic views. Known as the Welsh matterhorn due to it's shape when viewed from the SW, at 689m/2260ft, it's not the highest in the area. But a great little scramble at the top makes it a fun walk. A mixed bag weatherwise, but it was great to get out.

This is a great half day walk, taking in Carnedd Y Filiast (821m), Mynydd Perfedd (812m), Elidir Fawr (924m) and Elidir Fach (787m). It is not too difficult, and there is minimal scrambling, but best done in good visibility.

Day 2 of my Scottish adventure. A long day and a monster scramble up Carn Mor Dearg (1220m/4000ft), and then along the arete to Ben Nevis (1345m/4411ft). Fantastic views at the summit. This is the link for koos video, which shows more of the arête. ruclips.net/video/sR1vs9m5aUw/видео.html

You tube in their infinite wisdom de-subscribed me from your chanel. I wasn’t aware of this so naturally assumed you had fallen arse over tit down some Welsh mountain or other. I have spent the last year or so searching for your remains, to no avail. I thought I’d found your foot the other day along with your climbing boot but it turns out it belonged to someone else called Sandy I believe. Glad to see you’re still alive and kicking, now having watched this video I will have to search for the rest of them to bring me up to date.

I went up crib goch 30 years ago when I was a free solo climber of not great quality ( v1 max ) and had no fear. I did it again yesterday at 66 and life is more precious and fear more real and less balance and flexibility (knees especially) so I went left and traversed. I didn’t feel a wimp I felt sensible and comfortable and protected and confidence grew. Don’t ever watch others and think they set an example. It is your life and it is precious. So protect it. If you want to dance along the ridge and catch a toe or lose your balance you are dead. Brown bread. Bravado kaput. Be safe and live to tell how scary it was. Be proud of fear. It kept you alive.
