Nope, Sean Payton didn't want Russ as his QB. That was like obvious from the jump. It was more about his contract. He didn't like the idea of Russ making all that money. I guess Sean wanted to save the team money. He got rid of a lot of salary's.

@@Badger5280 His last season in Seattle he missed games due to injury and still had 26 td's. If Denver gave up the farm to get him, he must have not been garbage. The Broncos took a good QB and put him on a dysfunctional mess of a team. Inexperience head coach, weak oline, and a bunch of fragile injury prone teammates. Russ even played through 2 injuries. He did a lot better last season, but he was playing for a coach who didn't want him to be his QB. It's hard to be your best when your coach is your biggest opp. I think Russ is going to be just fine in Pittsburgh. Fields being there is going to make him go harder.

Either Tomlin is a genius or he’s a riverboat gambler. Time will tell. I watched Fields play in college and most his Bears games and I truly think given enough time he can learn how to play the position in the NFL at a high level. He will never be Tom Brady. You will always have to tailor your offense around him - he will never handle complicated offenses with lots of reads and options. You will need dedicated QB runs and draws, option plays and other ways to have fields exploit his athleticism and force the defense to account for him. He can have more success with more time, so sitting behind that candy azz Russel will be good for him.
